Saddle bag racks

Recommended Posts

Where do those who have saddle bag racks get them?? It is hard in the UK to source good parts & so far can't find any. Was hoping for tubular ones to match the rack on the trunk. Thanks if you can assist.

Try an Ebay search for "yamaha venture saddlebag lid rails".

Done that, only comes up with trim rails. Maybe there aren't any for the Venture...If anyone has any for other bikes, I'd apreciate advice. Thanks so far.

Ok, I guess I don't understand what you're looking for. Those are the Yamaha rails that sit up off of the lid, can have bungies tied to them to hold stuff, and look good when they don't have stuff tied to them.

I have looked for the "top rails" off and on for awhile now. I looked on e-bay for them and only find like one supplier. I looked at some on http://www.mutazu.com/index.html and found some I think may work. The rails fit these bags. http://www.mutazu.com/images/extras/HL%20Top%20Rails/thumbs/th_IMG_1238.JPG

Heres another set that fits a slightly different bag. All considerable less expensive than the $200+ for the ones I have seen on e-bay. http://www.mutazu.com/images/extras/jm_toprack/thumbs/th_JM%20top%20racks.JPG

What has to be done to the HD rack to make them fit? Do they look decent once done?

Thanks, that's exactly what I was trying to find. Not a bad price either. Much apreciated.

Look up the bags they go on from thier site. The one there I think the first is a rather narrow bag. Then it would kind of depend on the arc of the bag that they are suposed to fit. But Someone said the HD ones fit and they have little to no arc. I researched it a little before and I think the first one is what I came up with fitting OK. Also I think Kawaski Nomad top racks look to be close to same shape.

JC Whitney is a good source and they have an online catalogue. Also try Drag Specialties and Big Bike Parts. As I remember i think the Harley racks for the Ultra fit but need spacers under them and I think the ones for the Valkirie fit as well. Also Goldwing 1200 series work.Kawasaki Nomad ones look great but have too much curve in them IMHO.

How about a PN for the JC Whitney ones? The ones I came up with didnt sy they were specific to the RSV/TD and were in the $45 range I think. Single outside rail. The first pic of the ones I posted are 13"x6" and best I could measure on mine that should work OK. I like some rails inthe middle so if you do put something on there it dont lay on the bag lid.
