Chaharly Posted January 19, 2012 Share #1 Posted January 19, 2012 I want to remove the carb from my 83 because the jets are plugged. I cant get the lines loose on it because its cold out, and i dont want to ruin any of the rubber hoses. Whats a good way to get the hoses off without tearing them? I was thinking about some penetrating oil, WD 40, or a hair drier. What are some suggestions that you guys have that could possibly help me. Any help would be appreciated. I can see thr hoses not bending easily but if they are not coming off they may be stuck sure to previous heat. A scribe to lift a small edge enough to fit a straw of a spray lube should help. Marcarl Posted January 19, 2012 Share #4 Posted January 19, 2012 Make sure you push them off with a screwdriver, don't try to pull them, they'll just get tighter. As Eck said, use a hair dryer to warm them, and then push on the end of the hose to remove with a flat screw driver. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
CaptainJoe Posted January 19, 2012 Share #5 Posted January 19, 2012 (edited) Just make sure you have the gas petcock turned off and a fire estinguisher close by... probably not much danger doing it with a hair dryer but I'm thinkng some well placed hot water(say from a tea kettle) would be a lot safer. OR My wife bought this little steamer deal for under $20... and would definately warm up a cold hose....
