Mike G in SC Posted September 16, 2011 Share #1 Posted September 16, 2011 I picked up a screw in my rear tire (original Michelin Commander). I really like that tire, lots of miles left, can't find this tire anymore. I have plugged a roofing nail before on another tire, no problems. But this was a fair sized screw, dead center of tread, straight in. Tire is not torn but I don't trust a plug to keep air. Simple question,, is it safe to put a tube in the rear tire? Stache Posted September 16, 2011 Share #2 Posted September 16, 2011 Plug, clip and sand the inside really smooth. Put a tube patch over the plug (on the inside). Tube it. Ride it.
