They are more like a floorboard and are comfortable. They adjust in two directions too. They also fold up for to allow you to get in close places. There cheap compared to other foot rest. I have had them for two yrs now and they work and look great. Not covered in rust as I first thought they would be. I ride in rain and wash my bike with water and then blow it off with a $25.00 electric leaf blower from Wally World. Update : I called JC Whittney and talked to customer service specialist. She looked up all the product Sku # difference in the two and they are exactly the same. So why is the price difference I said. Her answer is that the price changed with another factory order and they never changed or updated it on the Webb site. But I added picture anyway, because I know we have rules around here. They look kinda cheap, not really chrome look, but kinda aluminum like. I would have done the same thing and I am 47 yrs old. I just did not even think of pictures with bike. My imagination and assuming things has gotten me in trouble several times. If you do not believe me, then ask my wife. My wife seems to think that everyone can understand her with only bits and pieces of the puzzle. Once set back down,there is a stopping point and they do not move past that point. They do not spin in any way after tightening them down. You may adjust them to suit your fancy. I have mine set so that my feet and heels sit flat on the boards. They have never moved once after I got them adjusted. You would want to adjust them while you where wearing your riding boots. I found this out the hard way because I first adjusted mine with my work boots on. I had to readjust for my harness riding boots. These boards are made of some sort of aluminum alloy. I had a set of these that were used on another bike when I bought the Venture. I temporarily used them (I thought) on the Venture while the Kuryakyn Longhorns were being shipped. After adjusting the "new" longhorns a dozen times trying to fnd the comfort zone----I decided "Purty" is not always comfortable. The J C Whitney boards are back on to stay! I did change the clamp that mounts the boards to the engine guard because there was no clearance between the big clamp that came with the boards and the lower flaring. It works great, part of a full speaker kit that I put on my bike. This is the only place I could find room for it and also keeps it dry. It is vell-croed in place there.
