FROG MAN Posted July 13, 2010 Share #1 Posted July 13, 2010 Most of you never have this problem as you wear tires out before they age. I don't get to ride much and when I do my time is shared between 2-3 scoots. The 89 had new tires installed in July of 06 with only 5500 miles on them now. They still look new but I'm going to do a close inspection for cracks and dry rot.I'll check the date codes as the tires may have been 1-2 years old sitting on a shelf somewhere. If the tires are 5-6 years old should I be concerned about the age if I can not see any signs of cracking or dry rot?
Yammer Dan Posted July 14, 2010 Share #2 Posted July 14, 2010 If no cracks or anything I don't know how long I would trust them. Mine don't get that old before the thread starts to hang out.
MiCarl Posted July 14, 2010 Share #3 Posted July 14, 2010 They'd probably be fine. Which means the tread probably won't come off on the inside of a curve causing a painful slide into oncoming traffic. Personally, I don't ride on probably.
