regardless of how some of these 'urban legends' pop up, it's good to know some people out there know the difference and can edumacate us lesser drolls..

And to confound you even more... ... The only TRUE synthetic on the market is Redline...and maybe certain AMSoils.

 

Mobil 1, "Synthetic" Rotella, et al are actually made from good old oil pumped out of the ground. Group III basestocks, IIRC.

This is just not true and we've been through it here several times. I looked up all the data on Mobil 1 at one time but am not going to take the time to do it again. Mobil 1 IS a true synthetic though.

I don't care what Rotella is or is not made of. All I know is it works great for me.
