Well I made a list and posted it below. Got me to thinking what all you people were planning over this down time to keep yourselves busy without going totally nuts. Well here is my list....... where is yours? :banana: WINTER VENTURE PROJECT Speed bleeders (4) front brakes, rear brakes, and clutch [*]Change brake fluid in front and rear brakes [*]Reflectors add on to saddle bag guards [*]Knee wind deflectors (from BuddyRich) on lower leg fairings [*]LED lights to illuminate wording in license plate (RED) [*]LED light under tank (BLUE) [*]LED taillight from Strobes& More 21 pattern flashing LEDs (RED) [*]Chrome accent strip on top of saddle bag lid [*]Paint (black) clear wind deflectors on fairing [*]Dress up right and left hand air boxes [*]Oil rear shock with fork oil to stop squeaking [*]Add HD hooded visors to passing lights [*]Spark plugs [*]change oil and filter Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

oldgoat Posted December 5, 2009 Share #4 Posted December 5, 2009 my list. repair book. pull tires off take to a place to get my new ones installed while there off put the new rotors on all 3. new brake pads and bleed the brakes. install the radio i bought from a member . take apart the tape player it quit about 2 weeks ago? figure out how to remove the old gages? and replace with the nice ones i got from a member. old ones worked but had a crack on the cover and filled up with water? firgure out how to pull the carbs if thats the cause. i put sea foam in and maybe too much? so start with new plugs. check on the cable updates i heard about on this site for the starter drag when it sits for about a week. i got a gel battery just 2 weeks ago. and have to figure out how to shut off the sensor on the monitor? no hole in the new battery. oil change. and then figure out why PO put a fan switch on the bike? im thinking the bike thermo dont work right. or it got hot at one time? i did notice at 44,000 miles there is a record and proof the PO had second gear done. then just clean the bike up. and latter decide how to remove fairing as i might get it painted. ahoutzer Posted December 5, 2009 Share #8 Posted December 5, 2009 Continue working two full-time jobs, riding Venture to work each day Continue raising three kids, including Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts Put gas in bike every couple of days as needed Continue work as treasurer of local fund to help people with heating & power bills Change oil again in late Jan or early February Hope for the chance to take some rides on Saturdays Clean crud off the bike every ten days or so Check and adjust tire and shock pressures every ten days or so May ride to Florida to visit parents with remaining vacation days Probably will need new rear brake pads during this time That about does it. While you can be enjoying much warmer weather in your neck of the woods, we in the great white North now have time to do those things we put off. Get those projects posted so we can all see what others are doing and encourage others to do the same, help out with parts, or give some help or just some friendly advice. I am not looking forward to the long Winter but at least I have my 1 stall garage/ workshop with a hanging natural gas heater to go hide out in when I hear the lonely call of my scoot wanting to be pampered. So ifin your riding good on you, ifin your wrenching lets hear what your up to. If you ain't got a list you won't get to it. WOW who does that sound like, gotta go the warden is coming. LOL Bubber. I have to install a Buckeye stator in a buddy's Venture (contrary to some thoughts-it is the same as Ricks Motorsports since I have installed both). Blue Giant Posted December 6, 2009 Share #22 Posted December 6, 2009 In the new year I hope to; Remove and completely clean the carbs Replace front a rear tire Properly grease the drive shaft Replace front wheel bearings Grease and re-torque steering head bearings Replace the fork fluid Install progressive fork springs Upgrade fork brace Change brake fluid, final drive fluid and oil and filter Give it a good cleaning and polishing and wait for spring (probably in the hot tub with a beverage and cigar while I contemplate attending the 2010 Venture Rally) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
