  1. I would like for those of you who use the chat rooms to give me an evaluation of the two solutions that I have installed at this time. The old one is pretty slick and has some nice features but doesn't work from all devices. The new one isn't as slick but seems to work just as well and is easier to get into and out of I think. It will be your call. If you choose the new one called "Shoutbox" at the top of the page then I will update it to the pro version. That won't make it any slicker looking but will add a few features such as allowing you to detach and run it in a separate window, turn the notification sounds on or off, things like that. Like I said, it is your call. From a money stand point, it's not a big deal. I would have to pay for the pro version of the new one but I also pay a yearly hosting fee separately for the old one so for the short term at least, it's pretty much a wash. So lets hear it. What do you want? The other option is that I could keep both but not upgrade the new one to the pro version. Just leave it as it is. I really don't think that we need two chat rooms though.
  2. I have basically been off of the forum for a while over the holidays and stuff so I suppose a lot of changes have been made but I keep getting logged out about every half hour? Another change is that if I have more than one window for the group open one window isn't aware that the other is logged on. I used to never log out and the site would just pick where I left off when I would load the web site. I was preparing a post with photos earlier and the site logged me out before I could get the photos uploaded with my post. I looked around the profile setting to see if there was a parameter I could change but didn't find anything. Does anyone have any ideas about this? It's becoming a PITA.
  3. I am currently using a tablet and the search window covers up my chat room tab. Am I the only one with this problem? I assume it is because of my tablet?
  4. I got an extra trunk for my '99 from the p.o. and I've got a question. Has anyone though of, or attempted to put speakers in the lower sides of the trunk? I've been trying to come up with a way to get some bigger speakers with a little more umph without putting them in the saddlebag lids, I'm thinking just behind the armrests. Haven't done any exact measurements yet, but I think I might be able to get a 6 1/4" in there. My Chevy Equinox has 6 1/4's w/seperate tweeters and I think that setup would give me about what I'm looking for, no window breaking bass, but just a little more thump. I'd probably lose about 4" on each side inside the trunk, but better there than in the bags. Been spending too much time at night thumbing thru Baggers Magazine I guess.
  5. at 5:00 Dogs were going wild...so I went to investigate. a bear came and tried to get into our garbage box. The first bear was standing on top of the garbage box right outside my window! I could have reached out and touched it! But he couldn't figure out how to get into the box. I tried to get some pictures thru the window but all I got was blurry screen. 6:00 another one came by...by now I was awake enough to figure out how to use the camera. This must just be a cub because .this one is MUCH smaller than the first. The big one just sort of looked at me and couldn't care less. The pics of the smaller one are just below the deck on the ground....no more than 10 feet away from where I was standing taking the pictures.
  6. HOW TO IDENTIFY WHERE A DRIVER IS FROM One hand on wheel, one hand on horn: Chicago One hand on wheel, one finger out window: New York One hand on wheel, one hand on newspaper, foot solidly on accelerator: Boston One hand on wheel, cradling cell phone, brick on accelerator: California. With gun in lap: L.A. Both hands on wheel, eyes shut, both feet on brake, quivering in terror: Ohio, but driving in California. Both hands in air, gesturing, both feet on accelerator, head turned to talk to someone in back seat: Italy One hand on latte, one knee on wheel, cradling cell phone, foot on brake, mind on game: Seattle One hand on wheel, one hand on hunting rifle, alternating between both feet being on the accelerator and both on the brake, throwing a McDonalds bag out the window: Texas Four wheel drive pickup truck, shotgun mounted in rear window, beer cans on floor, squirrel tails attached to antenna: West Virginia Two hands gripping wheel, blue hair barely visible above window level, driving 35 on the interstate in the left lane with the left blinker on: Florida
  7. Update: saw the oncologist and he is optimistic that this can be controlled if not cured, IF the radiation "window" can reach from the lymph nodes under the collar bones down to the tumor on top of the stomach. It is a large "port" as they call it but it will be up to the radiation doctor. SO, PRAY PRAY PRAY that the window is big enough!!! He will have chemo weekly for 12 weeks and radiation daily for at least 6 weeks. The radiation will be the toughest because it will effect his swallowing, which will improve after treatments are finished. They will do gamma knife radiation to the brain lesion somewhere in all this. I am fully trusting in the power of prayer because it has gotten us this far!! this is from his daughter.....

  9. I was in my back yard trying to launch a kite. I threw the kite up in the air, the wind would catch it for a few seconds, then it would come crashing back down to earth. I tried this a few more times with no success. All the while, my wife is watching from the kitchen window, muttering to herself how men need to be told how to do everything. She opens the window and yelled to me, 'You need a piece of tail.' I turned with a confused look on my face and said, 'Make up your mind. Last night, you told me to go fly a kite.
  10. ok before I ask I already feel really stupid..... When checking the engine oil onmy 06 thru the little sight window should the oil level be between the lines when it is leaning on the stand or when the bike is straight up and down ? I am going to assume until one of you guys enlighten me that it is while on the stand...since you can't hold the darn thing up whilst standing on your head to see the window hidden behind the frame tube. Thanks for the help....more dumb questions to come. Kenny
  11. He is one lucky fellow. A piece of leaf spring off of a truck went through his windshield and missed his left ear before going out the back window of his van. We talked to him on the phone last night and tonight and he seems fine. Here's the news paper article and picture. http://www.windsorstar.com/news/Windsor+almost+decapitated+steel+spring+Like+Bomb/6005134/story.html
  12. Hello. I still am trying to get a loan on a RSV so yes...I still dont have one. I need to know what the distance is between the idiot light panels next to the cassette door. I am thinking of modifying the cassette hole and need a measurement from the right edge of the left window to the left edge of the right window. i am thinking of installing a FUSION MS-RA200 marine radio in the cassette hole and eliminating all the Clarion electronics. Please let me know if you can. Thank you.
  13. Steve, if your up in the area can you see if the US-1 restaurant (the old sly fox) in S. Daytona is still open? A friend tried going there Friday night and it was closed. He said it didnt look abandoned but had a closed sign in the window. Kinda unusual for a Fri night. Dont make a special trip but if you just happen to head north, please check it out. Thanks, Jeff:smile5:
  14. I have changed my oil regularly since i have owned my bike (4 years). The problem is, i cant see through the oilcheck window. How do i check my oil? How do i clean the window? http://venturers.org/Forum/download/file.php?avatar=11210_1269700717.jpg
  15. Am in Moline,Illinois at the motel 6 right off of 74/280.... Gonna trailer it the whole way as its hotter than hades out there 105 to 115! Rolled the window down and damn it was HOT! Didn't do that again...LOL
  16. Yesterday afternoon I had to deliver a big pile of my grandsons outgrown yard toys to a friend for his grandson. I load up the back of my truck and the wife and off we go. There is a popular ice cream joint a couple miles from the house and as we go by I spot a pretty Gen1 in the parking lot with its owner and daughter near by. I immediately yell out "Hey Karl". Karl never even bothered to look up, and as I getting ready to yell again the wife wonders out loud if he might hear me a little better with the window rolled down. Doh! So, the question is, should I have pulled in so we could get ice cream too, or should I feel foolish for yelling thru a closed window?
  17. Well, I decided it has been over a year since my last mid-life crisis, so I had better get on it. I haven't had a nice vehicle (other than motorcycles) for myself in MANY years. The wife always seems to get the new car and I get the hand me down. So I decided my F-250 was burning too much diesel at $4.00 a gallon. Although this car doesn't get a ton more mileage, it does get a little more and the gas is cheaper. It's a 2006 Ford Mustang with 38,000 miles. Just the standard v6 model but a good compromise between the look I wanted and the better gas mileage I wanted. Looks brand new inside and out. I added window tint and a new radio so far...but this thing is like when you start adding to our bikes...there just isn't any end in sight to the accessories I could add. Some things in the future that might be added: hood scoop, window louvers, rims, chin and rear spoilers...It's a fun car. I don't drive it hard (never been a speed demon) but it can get up and go when needed. I'm a happy boy with a new toy!
  18. I got a call at work from my GF that she needs help with the dog. The dog wen thru the front window and got cut up and is bleeding all over the place. So I leave work and beat feet home, made the 45 minute drive in 30. The dog has several lacerations to her front leg and there is a hole in the front window. It turns out that some strange guy was trying to break in the front door and the dog was going ballistic trying to get him to stop. She was in full blown protect mode of the GF and house. The guy beat feet as soon as the front window broke and the dogs head came out, about 3 feet from the door. Fortunately the dogs injuries are not bad. Once I got all of the hair trimmed away from the cuts I decided that there was no serious internal damage and it was just some shallow cuts in the skin so there was no vet bill to deal with. I'll check it again when I get back home from work to be sure but am not expecting any issues. So is she a good dog for chasing away the bad guy and protecting the GF, or a bad dog for going thru the window and bleeding all over the living room carpet???? On the bright side, I am a design engineer for a place that makes commercial carpet cleaning equipment, so I have access to the latest and greatest technology in carpet cleaning, blood is not an issue to get out of off white carpet (don't ask how I know this:whistling:). AAAArrrrrggggg........ I really had plans other than cleaning the carpet tonight.
  19. So there I wuz on Satiddy scooting my way over to Squid's in Conroe,Texas.....Rolling through Sour Lake Texas when all H*LL broke loose on the bike! The darn pygmies had spotted the Dairy Queen and wanted ice cream. Being in a hurry to get to Squid's I was forced to stop and beat the little runts back into the saddlebags..... One of em got away and I saw him leap right through the DQ Service window....when the wimmen in there started screaming I rolled on the throttle and got the heck out of there. Boomer....who sez the friendship and hospitality of Squid and Lonna:bighug: is well worth the price of losing a pygmie or two.
  20. With the motor cold, on its side stand, what should the Oil level be in the Glass window?
  21. I just finished talking with my friend in Bozeman, Montana He said that since early this morning the snow has been waist high and is still falling.... His wife has done nothing but look through the kitchen window. He says that if it gets much worse, he may have to let her in... :rotf:
  22. I've just heard from a friend in Scotland, he says it has been snowing heavily for three days now. His wife has done nothing but stare through the window, if it doesn't stop soon he'll probably have to let her in.
  23. Is it just my PC or is everyone having the same issue. When I click on a thumbnail picture it used to open up a mini window that "floated" above the post I was watching and I could navigate to the next pic. Now it seems the only way I can open a picture is by doubleclicking on it and it opens one at a time in a new window. The pictures are larger that way...but much slower to see them all! any suggestions on what might have happened?
  24. Grandma is eighty-eight years old and still drives her own car. She writes: Dear daughter, The other day I went up to our local Christian book store and saw a 'Honk if you love Jesus' bumper sticker .. I was feeling particularly sassy that day because I had just come from a thrilling choir performance, followed by a thunderous prayer meeting. So, I bought the sticker and put it on my bumper. Boy, am I glad I did; what an uplifting experience that followed. I was stopped at a red light at a busy intersection, just lost in thought about the Lord and how good he is, and I didn't notice that the light had changed. It is a good thing someone else loves Jesus because if he hadn't honked, I'd never have noticed. I found that lots of people love Jesus! While I was sitting there, the guy behind started honking like crazy, and then he leaned out of his window and screamed, 'For the love of God!' 'Go! Go! Go! Jesus Christ, GO!' What an exuberant cheerleader he was for Jesus! Everyone started honking! I just leaned out my window and started waving and smiling at all those loving people. I even honked my horn a few times to share in the love! There must have been a man from Florida back there because I heard him yelling something about a sunny beach. I saw another guy waving in a funny way with only his middle finger stuck up in the air. I asked my young teenage grandson in the back seat what that meant. He said it was a Hawaiian good luck sign. Well, I have never met anyone from Hawaii , so I leaned out the window and gave him the good luck sign right back. My grandson burst out laughing. Why even he was enjoying this religious experience!! A couple of the people were so caught up in the joy of the moment that they got out of their cars and started walking towards me. I bet they wanted to pray or ask what church I attended, but this is when I noticed the light had changed. So, grinning, I waved at all my brothers and sisters, and drove on through the intersection. I noticed that I was the only car that got through the intersection before the light changed again and felt kind of sad that I had to leave them after all the love we had shared. So I slowed the car down, leaned out the window and gave them all the Hawaiian good luck sign one last time as I drove away. Praise the Lord for such wonderful folks!! Will write again soon, Love, Grandma
  25. Here's a head scratcher.... Pre-oil change, my oil level was right to the top of the window with very little bubble. I got it nice and warm, got the bike to level on my lift, removed the fill cap, popped the drain bolt and pulled the old filter. I let everything drain for a good 30 minutes until the dripping all but stopped, and then put exactly 3.5 qts of new oil in it, including a little bit in the new filter as all good little mechanics do. After I fired it up for about 5 minutes and then let it sit, the window again showed that the oil was right to the top of the window when the bike was again level - virtually no bubble visible . Is it possible that even after all I did, that some old oil is still in the engine? If so, how do you get it fully drained? The old oil filled 3 of the empty quart containers and about 6oz. of a 4th. Not quite 3 1/2 quarts. Can't think of anything I did wrong, but this one's got me stumped.
