    texas roads

everybody that lives in the hill country of texas knows these roads, they are called the three sisters, 335, 336, 337, people drive down from colorado to drive on these three roads. ( imagine that ) not only are they great roads, lots of twists and turns, but some great biker friendly places to eat. some great swimming holes. great changes in elevation and a motorcycle museum run by a guy from new zealand. ( talk about getting lost ) during the week you can ride these and never see a soul, car nor motorcycle. on week ends you meet some great riders from all over i highly recommend the ride
  2. www.mecum.com sign in with email address to view. or channel nbcsp next week
  3. Tomorrow morning Eileen and I are off for a week in tropical Wisconsin. Going to the company resort for a week. HOPING to do some snowmobiling but I'm not sure the snow is going to show up. We'll see. Anyway, we will be spending a week at the company resort near Hayward, WI on Round Lake. I will have internet service but won't be on as much as I usually am. Hopefully any issues that come up will wait until I return next weekend.
  4. Looking for suggestions on "must see/do" things for northern Texas for last week of February-first week of March. On average, what kind of weather should we expect??
  5. Returning from the Hell's Canyon Motorcycle Rally, Baker City, OR, this past Sunday I may have overpacked a saddlebag and now I am unable to open the saddlebag. Perhaps some material is in the way of the latching mechanism. After a couple of days trying to place pressure at various points and having helping hands depress the "open" button I am exhausted. My research so far suggest the OEM latch mechanism has some history of sticking and remedies have ranged from cutting off the hinges (trashing the bag) to getting one latch unlocked and insert a 14 inch rod to open the second latch. Once opened, then to lube the latch. A call to my dealer, RMC, resulting in them being willing to look at it but not sure if they can help. But the next opening in the schedule is a week or more away. A journey electrician and all around mechanic friend is going to look at it today for me. He's pretty handy and has a great mechanical attitude. I am looking for any experience and advice from this forum. Thank you in advance.
  6. Seems like everytime I grab one of those tasty little morsels I always get the one with the nasty tasting stuff in the middle. Well this week I got one with the creamy caramel centers. After 5 months of unemployment, during which time I attended and passed a CDL course on Tuesday, not ten minutes before I was to jump into the truck to take my road test i recieved a phone call from another company( not trucking related) that I applied to to come in on thursday for my second interview. Had my first interview the week before, didn't think it went well. So I go back to the trucking company where the school is that I attended and am told to fill out a application with them. Next day I get a call back from them saying I can start as a trainee sometime in the next couple of weeks...What to do, what to do? Well, I went to the interview with the other company ( big box retail company) this morning. The HR manager hands me a slip of paper with a hourly pay rate and ask me if this amount is ok with me. After picking myself up off the floor and pushing my mouth shut , I said I guess it will do. It was way more then I ever expected to be offered. Again, what to do,what to do? So I told her that I just got my CDL And she says, that's great we can use you as a back up delivery driver and a dept. manager.... Now I ask you, what do you think I did?......I start next week with the big box company.
  7. Are there any sprint car fans out there? I have a buddy trying to talk me into going to Tulsa for the Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Nationals the second week of January. I've never been, but I've heard that it's a pretty crazy week of indoor midget sprint car raciing. Before I commit, I would like to get a real idea of whether i should plunk down the funding for ticket and hotel. Has anyone attended before?
  8. Three weeks ago, I only rode 3 times. Two weeks ago, I rode twice. Last week, I only rode once. This week, no chance. This weather on our area is driving me nuts. Snow is in the forecast for tomorrow. Highway crews salted the roads yesterday. Tomorrow, I may have to plug in the battery on the trickle charger.
  9. Thanks to my company downsizing, effective last week, 10/31 I officially joined the ranks of the retired. I always wondered how you knew when you had saved enough to retire. Now I know. At first I was a little pissed but after it set in and I ran through all of the numbers I realized I was ready to retire and should. I've not worked for the last couple of months and I'm really getting used to the time off. I've been catching up on a few household chores and taking a few weekday rides. I'll probably soon get bored enough that I'll get into something a couple of days a week. It's sure nice not to have to worry about solving problems every day. If I can offer a word of advice to those of you still working, SAVE! Dennis
  10. One Sunday, in counting the money in the weekly offering, the pastor of a small church found a pink envelope containing $1,000. It happened again the next week! The following Sunday, he watched as the offering was collected and saw an elderly woman put the distinctive pink envelope on the plate. This went on for weeks until the pastor, overcome by curiosity, approached her. "Ma'am, I couldn't help but notice that you put $1,000 a week in the collection plate," he stated. Why, yes," she replied, "every week my son sends me money, and I give some of it to the church." The pastor replied, "That's wonderful. But $1,000 is a lot; are you sure you can afford this? How much does he send you?" The elderly woman answered, "$10,000 a week." The pastor was amazed. "Your son is very successful; what does he do for a living? "He is a veterinarian," she answered. "That's an honorable profession, but I had no idea they made that much money," the pastor said.. "Where does he practice?" The woman answered proudly, "In Nevada ... He has two cat houses, one in Las Vegas and one in Reno"
  11. I ordered a new " ClearView" windshield for the new 08 RSTD. Supposed to be here Friday this week. 2 inch wider, each side, and more lower, wind protection. Will take photos of the conversion, and post, if anybody is interested in that modification for an RSTD. Been waiting about 2 weeks for delivery, no problem, its been raining in Seattle again. Also have Heated grips on the way, so will be busy with modifications next week !!
  12. This time of year I watch the weather looking for a nice day to plan a trip on the 1st Gen. And week after week I am consistently disappointed with the weather but more importantly, the timing of the weather. I am noticing (and I'm sure many of you have as well) that the weather during the week will have one or two days of sunshine while the weekend is always wet and miserable. I propose we reset the week. We need to pause the week so that the weather comes into alignment with the days of the week and that will give us sunny weekends. So here's what we do. Wednesday October 31 will be the start of the reset. The next day will be Wednesday November 01, and the third day will be Wednesday November 02. Then we carry on as usual. We have now reset the week. Now the days that used to be sunny in the middle of the week are now the weekend and we can ALL appreciate more sunny days on the weekends. If this doesn't work, I'm moving to Texas. They always seem to have sunny weekends. Thomas
  13. Hate to do this but just posted my Venture trike for sale in the classifieds.Health reasons and for some reason there has been a rash of Cagers running over us riders. The one last was a close friend"s brother.A man driving a car driffed into the other lane and hit the Goldwing. Needless to say his left boot and leg was still on the bike.He lived just a few hours after the wreck and another one last week was one a man had sold his bike. Was going to take one last ride and someone ran stop sign,he was DOA at the sight.I would for some one in the club to get this bike it is in excellent condition.
  14. As the title says, I'm Back. Can't really go into much details due to contract, other than to say BEER24/7 retires in about 3 weeks and 60 days of on-call. Myself will have a 1200 hr/1 year(which ever comes first), 40 hr. a week or LESS commitment...... It's been too long. With that said, Be prepared to be tortured, flogged, laugh and CRY! You've been fore-warned!!!! :stirthepot: BEER30
  15. Doing the Tail probably Monday of next week and also the Moonshine 28. Are there any must see areas around there? Going with my in-laws, basically no plans other than those two rides but we have the whole week to play around. Any suggestions?
  16. Anybody know where I can get an antenna and bracket? Mine broke las t week while doing a 400 mile run thru Michigan. Thanks
  17. I am feeling rather foolish to have to ask this -- but I don't have a Clymers manual for my 85 Royale as of yet... I need to check the trany fluid level -- and my feeble brain can't figure it out. I had noticed some leakage about a week and a half ago after bringing the bike up to where I am staying during the week. It was on the right side dripping off the exhaust pipe -- which was strange since it was leaning left on the kick stand. It did not leak directly after parking it, but a few days later after having sat without being run. It has since stopped the leaking... I do have it on the center stand now and the engine oil is very near the top line in the sight glass so I don't think it was engine oil unless that had been over filled. The coolant is where it should be (don't think it was coolant anyway) so the only thing left is the transmission... Would someone point a quasi weekend mechanic in the right direction? Thanks Scott
  18. It would help a few of us borderline Alzheimer cases to put a lasting name to a face if you could post a picture of yourselve(s) with names. Met a bunch of friends this week, but I forgot your names!!! Attached is myself and wife Nancy Gary

  20. When my husband and I were newlyweds, we rode 2 up on a KZ1000. Unfortunately, that bike was stolen 29 years ago. I had always promised him he could get a new bike when the time was right, and this is what we ended up with last week. It has a lot of miles on it but it was well taken care of.

When speaking to them on the phone they come off as phony. If you can make it over there PM me and ill send you my order #. Thanks, Jeff
