  1. http://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL1484/9583596/23709647/402965067.jpgHi all. New to the forum..been a guest for awhile..joined today. Here is my "baby" It is a 2009 RSV with a Tri-Wing kit, Steerite steering kit, and Carbon-One passenger rests. Had to put something on for GF..she kept falling asleep! I haven't rode in 25 years due to balance issues from a spinal cord injury.Got the itch again when I started seeing trikes. Got a great deal on this one..was a new 09 that hadn't sold..then he triked it and put it on sale when fall came..great for me! Not a lot of triked RSV around.New to Yamaha..but will have to say it is a step up from my last bike,,a 1977 honda 750! Dean
  2. Hello from Mechanicsburg, Ohio!! I just bought an 87' Royale, and recently found this board, and reading all I can about the bike. I'm really enjoying riding the Venture, I had an 86' Honda Shadow that I rebuilt, and had a blast with, but it was a bit small for me so I sold it and got the Venture. Here are a couple of pics... http://i868.photobucket.com/albums/ab243/BriRit/3975d084.jpg http://i868.photobucket.com/albums/ab243/BriRit/f6bafb2b.jpg I got a good deal on the bike, but it does need some TLC and cleaning, some plastic is cracked or broken and I already repaired the CLASS. I've racked up $700 in new parts and have been slowly putting them on and checking the bike mechanicly as well. I haven't started to clean it up yet as all of my time has been spent wrenching, but it should clean up nicely. It runs really strong, and the previous owner had a bunch of maintenance items done before he sold it. I'm sure I will have tons of questions, and hopefully contribute a bit as well. Later, Briley.
  3. I was sold these as going on a MKII 1st Gen bike and since I have a MKI as well I can verify it goes to neither... any help out there with finding their proper use? http://www.bergall.org/temp/venture/floorboards/mc1.jpg http://www.bergall.org/temp/venture/floorboards/mc1a.jpg http://www.bergall.org/temp/venture/floorboards/mc2.jpg
  4. After being in the used bike business for over 40 years my wife and I sold out.. It had taken me a few years to come to the conclusion that the economy, at least here in Michigan, had probably gone beyond that point of probable recovery within the working years I have left.. I discovered, much to my disadvantage, that even waiting the 6 years to do this cost us thousands of dollars in lost revenue. Instead of the .75 on the dollar we could have gotten on inventory 6 years ago we ended up at about .30 on the dollar.. Dont misunderstand though, even though I do have real mixed emotions about seeing all my bikes and inventory go I still am thankful that it sold.. This last season was a real eye opener for us.. Couple of quick examples, Had a complete 2003 anniversary Harley motor and trans - less than 4k miles on it, TC88, started at 2400 a year ago, went to 1800, 1500 (lots of offers to sell at 500) finally sold to a custom shop for 900. Another one was a good old 1986 Honda XR350 that was street legalized (pre 9/11 we sold a number of these converted XR's and never under 2), it was a gorgeous bike!! Started out at 1700, early summer dropped to 14, late summer dropped to 9 (I had almost that in parts in a complete top end - lots of lookers and people wanting to trade for cameras and boats and lawnmowers and on and on).. Finally a guy drove all the way from Wisconsin to get it for 600 bucks.. I am still gonna spin wrenches and buy and sell (wife says I have two stroke oil for blood) BUT at an extremely downsized rate.. So here is a question for you folks, I still struggle with the idea that this Michigan recession is really that bad across our country.. If we moved out of our beloved state and headed for a warmer, dryer (low humidity) climate - is there anywhere in the country that still seems to be economically desirable for bike resale - off road, on road dont matter.. Have you folks who live in these climates noticed a slow down on sales of motorcycles (or quads) you have seen sitting in peoples front yards? Are there any of you who have attended live auctions thru the years and noticed a steep decline in local auction prices for bikes and related stuff or is does your area seem to be holding steady? I welcome any input on the subject matter!! Thanks Scott
  5. PLEASE CHECK CLASSIFIED FOR ANY UP DATES. I WILL POST WHAT IS SOLD AS I HERE FROM MEMBERS AND THEY CONFIRM. FOR SOME REASON I EDIT THE POST ON WHAT IS SOLD AND IT STARTS A NEW THREAD :confused24: HELP ME OUT DON??
  6. Well, my Venture found a new owner in New York. I've bought and sold bikes, trucks, riding mowers, motorcycles etc. all my life and never felt remorse for doing it until I followed my Venture down the road. Never seen the rear end going down the highway before and realizing it wasn't coming back was reminiscent of when we had to put our dog to sleep after 18 years of friendship and never questioning love. I guess I finally understand why some of you guys talk so affectionately of your bike -
  7. Hate to do this but just posted my Venture trike for sale in the classifieds.Health reasons and for some reason there has been a rash of Cagers running over us riders. The one last was a close friend"s brother.A man driving a car driffed into the other lane and hit the Goldwing. Needless to say his left boot and leg was still on the bike.He lived just a few hours after the wreck and another one last week was one a man had sold his bike. Was going to take one last ride and someone ran stop sign,he was DOA at the sight.I would for some one in the club to get this bike it is in excellent condition.
  8. The 89 is " Sold " as of yesterday.
  9. Kind of sad today. Sold my 98 Magna V45 today to an 18 yr old kid. Hope he can handle it. Really liked that bike as it was fun to ride. It handled great and ate up Harleys. I bought my RSTD in June because it was a lot more comfortable riding two up. I have a thing for the V-4. Don't have time or room for both so the Magna lost out. Now I have more money to buy shiny things for new bike
  10. Sold the RSTD today. Actually traded it for a 2012 Kawasaki Vulcan 1700 Voyager. I've been waiting for Yamaha to hang a new fuel injected v4 on the Venture and maybe update the technology to add ABS. Alas, the old RSTD needed a bunch of maintenance all at once so I gave in and bought the new tech from Kawasaki. Picked her up tonight with zero miles and put her away with 36 miles. Have to give her the standard break in for the next 964 miles, then I'm hitting the road for Colorado. So, anybody want to buy some barely used slash cut RSTD pipes? I hung them in the shed 7 years ago and they are still there. Also found the stock seat. Make me an offer if you're interested. Warmest regards,
  11. My red 84 is finally sold and gone, he also wants me to build a new trailer hitch for her and will buy my trailer also!!! Thank GOODNESS it finally happened! She left the house about an hour ago, I feel a little bit sad because of all I've been thru, done to and did with her But that's alright, 'cause now I can start putting all the goodies on the 08!!!
  12. Found just what we were looking for,,, still some work to be done,,,,,OH crap!!! it's sold!!!
  13. I picked up a set of Dunlop E3's for my 08 RSV. Front - 150/80-16 , the Rear I was sold was a MV85/B15. My manual says 150/90-15. Is the MV85/B15 the same as what is required, under a different part number? I want to make sure before I have them installed.
  14. Just rolled 100,000 on the Hondapotamus today. Starting to match the mileage on my R60 (132K) and R100RT (123K). Great bike, GF's favorite. The guy I sold my 87 Venture to has rolled it to 90K. Getting our money's worth for sure.
  15. Steamer and RocknRobin "sold it, sold it, sold it" and we "bought it, bought it, bought it." It was a bit of a sloppy, snowy 13 hour day, but when all was said and done we really didn't give hoot about what the weather had been. We got home with two new additions; one a bike the other a friend. What more could you ask for? However the next time we do a trip thata way, it will be sunny and on just 2 wheels. Let the Ventures begin....
  16. Well my '08 Lowrider is sold. I pick up a new ride this week. Let the farklein' begin! http://i521.photobucket.com/albums/w337/Owen064/b7a117ce7d07a16e57c8_1.jpg
  17. Just got back from seeing Rain. They were on Broadway and now they are touring. They do a fantastic Beatles show, starting from the beginning to their final moments together. If you like the Beatles you owe it to yourself to see this show if they are passing through your town. The place was sold out here on a Wednesday night no less. Sure did bring back some great memories (flashbacks?).
  18. I sold my 2006 GL1800 to a guy that flew in from Wichita KS to Atlanta and rode it home. I rode it for 2 yrs and put 24k miles on it and sold it for $700 less than I paid for it. Not a bad deal! I still have the '97 RSTC and I might be looking for a sport touring bike like a Kawi Concours 14 in the future.
  19. We don't have a local dealer any more so I have to drive about 40 miles to Bob's Motor sports in Chatham ON (http://www.bobsmotorsport.com/) to buy parts etc. I stopped in this week to see if they had a new shifter bolt to replace the one I lost. They don't stock that part but one was available at the warehouse in Toronto. Rather then make me have to go back to pick it up they removed the one from the RSV in the showroom and sold it to me. It was a small gesture but it was very much appreciated. I've always been very impressed with these folks. It's a small, family owned business that always seems to go above and beyond for the customer.
  20. I saw this on WOOT.Com this morning and though some of you campers might be interested in this air matress. Ida jumped on it but already own one.... It'll only last a day or until sold out.
  21. I've been here for a bit and finely got around to posting some pics of my '83 Roayle. She was a non runner when I got her in March. I got the important systems up and running, like the radio. Still more to do. This is my second Venture. The first one was an '83 standard which I sold about 6-7 years ago, still can't figure out why I sold her. Left faring Right faring Left saddle bag Right saddle bag Trunk Mud flap, With brake applied His eyes flash also Windsheld (not my style)
  22. OK folks, due to continuing issues with our classifieds section, I am going to see how it works by doing away with the separate classifieds area and creating forum areas for our classifieds. I have already created the new forums and you'll see them if you scroll down on the home page of the forum. There are positives and negatives to moving them to the forum. Positives: Possibly more exposure for the ads. Better integration with the forum software. Will put an end to headaches that the present system is causing me with ads mysteriously going away, being marked sold, etc. Negatives: No integrated "buy now" button. PayPal and/or payment info will have to be worked out through contact with the seller. No option to "renew" an ad. They are set to expire in 60 days and then if your item hasn't sold, you will just have to replace your ad. No "miles from me" indication but most complained that the feature didn't work anyway. So, we'll see how it works out and go from there. I will leave the current classifieds open for a few days. If you have items or an item for sale in the classifieds, please take the time to add it to the new area as your existing add will be gone in a few days.
  23. My 83 venture I just got on the 4th missed and did not run smooth. Two cans of seafoam got it running great. My wife dont always run smooth. I wonder? I am sold on sea foam. I will put a 1/4 of a can in every fill up. Have a good day:backinmyday:
  24. The kids filed back into class Monday morning. They were very excited. Their weekend assignment was to sell something, then give a talk on productive salesmanship. Little Sally led off: "I sold girl scout cookies and I made $30," she said proudly, "My sales approach was to appeal to the customer's civil spirit and I credit that approach for my obvious success." "Very good," said the teacher. Little Jenny was next: "I sold magazines," she said, "I made $45 and I explained to everyone that magazines would keep them up on current events." "Very good, Jenny," said the teacher.. Eventually, it was Little Johnny's turn. The teacher held her breath ... Little Johnny walked to the front of the classroom and dumped a box full of cash on the teacher's desk. "$2,467," he said. "$2,467!" cried the teacher, "What in the world were you selling" "Toothbrushes," said Little Johnny. "Toothbrushes," echoed the teacher, "How could you possibly sell enough tooth brushes to make that much money?" "I found the busiest corner in town," said Little Johnny, "I set up a Dip & Chip stand, I gave everybody who walked by a free sample." They all said the same thing, "Hey, this tastes like dog crap!" Then I would say,"It is dog crap. Wanna buy a toothbrush?" "I used the governmental approach of giving you something crappy that they say is good, and then making you pay to get the crappy taste out of your mouth." The teacher was speechless. . . . . . . .
  25. At last I took the plunge and followed the good advice offered here and replaced the diodes in the TCI unit. All I can say is that its is worth doing and easier then I thought. The bike now definitely runs better and as you will see from the photos I think I did this just in time!!! First I got ready for a long and tedious amount of work! Coffee!!!! Then I went and took skydoc's advice and soldered everything I could solder including the CMU. The rest of the images show the damaged diodes and the work I did. For anyone wondering what failing diodes look like I think I may have found the proof!! When I touched then, they just fell apart. I hope this encourages anyone thinking about this to do it. All you need is a soldering iron with a fine point and the diodes sold at The Source (Radio Shack) Item # 2761653. This is an assortment of 25 diodes and there are 10 diodes in there that will replace the old ones. (1N4001). They fit easily into the existing holes left by the old diodes. I will be looking for another one to fix and have as a spare for sure.
