  1. I need a little info ASAP. As above, has 6500KM (4038 miles) in as new condition. The owner has no idea if it has CB or Intercom. Owner never rode two up and never had a head set. Serious health problems reason for selling. I don't care about CB, but do want intercom. Was intercom standard equipment in 2007? I want to purchase this evening. Don't come along like this very often. Robby
  2. I'm having a serious case of the screammin meamies. I am on vacation! Plans for the week included buying a 1T portable hard drive to back up my laptop onto. Hard drive was bought but said plans got put off due to other things getting in the way as in one of my mares doing her best to make my vet rich. The "fun" began when said laptop locked up while I was online. Tried activating the Task Manager to shut it down and restart the puter but the program would not come up so I just turned it off. Apparently that has corrupted my hard drive and the puter will not load into Windows. Fortunately I have 2 laptops so I was able to access Gateway's website and find out what I needed to do to get it back up and running. Gateway said to pull the hard drive, copy it so I would not lose all of my data and set the puter back to factory specs which would erase any data on the hard drive. I went down to Best Buy to have the Geek Squad check it and according to them, the data on the hard drive cannot be accessed so I've had to buy a new hard drive. Not a biggie except for one minor detail. . . . All of the stuff I have loaded on said hard drive, pics, a ton of bookmarks, a semi serious collection of eBooks [Kindle!] and an equally semi serious collection of audio books! OUCH! To top it off, the Geek Squad informed me that a MINIMUM charge of $250, which could go as high as $2500, would be needed to send the old hard drive off for data recovery. And that is not including the cost of another portable hard drive to copy the data onto. OUCH!! The HELP! is this: Is there anyone out there that can do the data recovery without it costing me the proverbial arm and a leg ? Any recomendations for someone who could?? I can redownload the ebooks and the audiobooks but considering how slow my internet connection can be, that could take forever. Also the pics, bookmarks and assorted other goodies, for the most part, cannot be replaced. HELP!!!
  3. Last Friday my friend Terry went down. No one knows how or why yet. It appears that a very experienced long term rider simply veered off the road and crashed hard. (we do live in serious deer territory) He has a broken leg and collar bone as well as a ruptured spleen and serious kidney damage. He is being kept in a medically induced coma for now. Please folks, be safe out there. As was so rightly pointed out, prayers are better.
  4. I am sure there is a thread on this - I want to mount a serious horn on my 1st Gen - any instructions on this? Ken
  5. Can any CD player be used in 1st Gens? Just wondering cuz of the position it has to be installed in. Those of you who have them...any serious skipping issues or is that a thing of the past with newer automotive players?
  6. I live out in the country just off US Hwy 290. It's not uncommon, especially with this lovely bike riding weather we're having, to see lots of bikes on the road. Seeing one pulling a trailer is also not that uncommon. The doubletake was the one this morning who was not only pulling one of the mini camping trailers but also the canoe/kayak he had tied to the top of it!!! It had to be a one person craft. Anything bigger and he'd either being hitting the rear of the bike, or himself, in the back!! I'm in serious riding withdrawl. Between work and stuff going on at home [a visit from the Mum!], I've only gotten in a "quick" 40 mile run during the BIG MD just a couple weeks ago. Here's hoping I can get out this weekend and blow out some serious cobwebs!!
  7. So, if its nudity you want, well then its nudity that you will get........enter chat at your own risk!!! (really, you thought we'd look good nude?? Are you serious??)
  8. NO SEX Since 1955 A crusty old Marine Sergeant Major found himself at a gala event hosted by a local liberal arts college. There was no shortage of extremely young idealistic ladies in attendance, one of whom approached the Sergeant Major for conversation. "Excuse me, Sergeant Major, but you seem to be a very serious man. Is something bothering you?" "Negative, ma'am. Just serious by nature." The young lady looked at his awards and decorations and said, "It looks like you have seen a lot of action." "Yes, ma'am, a lot of action." The young lady, tiring of trying to start up a conversation, said, "You know, you should lighten up. Relax and enjoy yourself." The Sergeant Major just stared at her in his serious manner. Finally the young lady said, "You know, I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but when is the last time you had sex?" "1955, ma'am." "Well, there you are. No wonder you're so serious. You really need to chill out! I mean, no sex since 1955! She took his hand and led him to a private room where she proceeded to "relax" him several times. Afterwards, panting for breath, she leaned against his bare chest and said, "Wow, you sure didn't forget much since 1955." The Sergeant Major said, after glancing at his watch, "I hope not; it's only 2130 now." (Gotta love military time) Andy
  9. I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes about 35 years ago and quite honestly did a poor job of controlling it. I took the pills prescribed, but my eating habits were terrible and was about 80 pounds overweight. I eventually ended up on insulin, but that did not help as my A1C numbers were from high 9's to about 11. When it became obvious that I was going to be dealing with a divorce after a 41 year marriage, I started getting serious about myself. I ended up loosing about 50 pounds and went off insulin and my last two A1C numbers were 6.7 and 6.4 which are very good. But, the problem with diabetes and poor control of it is damage done over the years just don't go away whenever you decide to do better. So, I am sitting here right now trying to type with one eye and hoping I will get some good vision out of the eye when it heals up. The hemorrhage I had was as bad or worse than any of the examples shown on the website about these things. About two years ago I was really happy with the results from my cataract surgery. Now I am being told that I have a lot of damage in both eyes and it will get worse. The reason I am writing this is I know I am not the only one in this bunch with type 2 diabetes and I hope some of you will start taking diabetes a lot more serious than I did, so maybe you can keep some of the damage to a minimum. It is a beautiful day outside and to be almost 80 degrees and I would love to be going for a ride. RandyA

This is pretty good. Watch till the end and you'll see it in slow motion. At the very least, he saved her some serious hurt and maybe even her life. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tMujgAAyH-I]YouTube - ‪Evan Longoria's Crazy Bare Hand Catch‬‏[/ame]
  11. Figured that would get the attention. Anybody on here a serious or semi serious jogger. I may be in the minority given the quantity of meet and eats that get mentioned on here. I am trying to keep the taX man from collecting those inheritance taxes as long as possible, or making sure thereon be anything left for them to collect. I have became more serious exercising after having somebody I thought was significantly older than me and much heavier finish ahead of me in a 5k only to find out we were in same age bracket, Ouch. Plan on dusting him next month. Besides being in shape has to help for the long rides. Bob Marshall, il
  12. If you think people can't see you on your bike, then watch this. They can't even see the lights or large objects in front of them. People driving must be either daydreaming, on the cell, sleeping, on drugs, or something serious enough to distract them from the obvious. Sorry, if this has already been posted before. http://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v=-qvXbIenivk
  13. This is a MUST watch !!! What you think you see is NOT what you actually get! Serious health watch!. http://naturalnews.tv/v.asp?v=7EC06D27B1A945BE85E7DA8483025962
  14. Hopefully it's not too serious somebody try to post to the thread help a new guy - it shows 3 pages NOT http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?threadid=56484
  15. For those of you that are doing some major repairs on your 83, such as transmission repairs or whatever, I suggest you think about doing what I did as a frame repair, even though you have not experienced a frame breakage as I did 4 1/2 years and probably 35,000 miles ago. Even though I don't feel it is a common problem of frame breakage, I do feel that if you are serious about keeping your bike on the road and having the structural integrity it needs, this is something I think you should seriously consider. 17. Hello out there. i'm new to the site and new to postings and would like your feedback/advice. I'm planning my first serious road trip from the rio grande valley (southern tip of texas) to south bend indiana in june. please shoot me some advice on how to prepare for this trip.
  18. leads to grief... I got distracted by a pedestrian who I thought was going to fall into the roadway when I looked back the car in front of me had stopped! There was a car to my left and I had no where to go. I have practiced emergency stops on this bike a lot since I got it but the rear locked up twice and at the end of the second lock up (this is in 2 seconds...) it caught and threw me. It's my first high side! I can remember thinking "this is stupid" as I got launched onto the road and rolled onto my back. There are some serious scratches on the fairing and I bent the right crash bar so my cowling doesn't look right but overall it's not bad considering the bike almost went right over. I can still hear the sound of the bike hitting the pavement. They are not very pretty upside down... My left ankle is sore and I have a scratch on my right wrist. Not even a scratch on my helmet. Glad I had leather on though... It could have been worse...
  19. On Monday July 7 2008, in Brantford Ontario a very good man I used to work with was riding with his wife...at about 3:30 pm their motorcycle met head-on with a pickup truck... Both Gary("tapper") and his wife perished instantly..., the truck driver is still in serious condition himself... Tapper was such a nice guy, only retired for 3 years... He will be missed...

    New Bike

I am considering Buying a 2008 Royal Star Venture from My Dad and would like to hear from some of you on how you like your Bikes and any Problems/Issues with them. I read about the Rear End Problems/Noises. Any of you dealing with this and how serious is it. I currently Ride a 05 Roadstar and would like to go to a Touring Bike but My Bike Runs great and I have no problems or issues at all with it. This would be my only concern.
  21. Just thought I would let everyone know that we made it to, and past the required 100 shirts to get the order in....we ordered 108 shirts. Anyone with questions regarding the shirt orders, please be patient...Al Johnson was looking after that for us and he is now in the hospital with some sort of growth on his neck being diagnosed....hopefully it's nothing too serious. The point is I am checking his shirt ordering email site while he is unable. 3 WEEKS UNTIL THE 2008 INTERNATIONAL VENTURERIDERRALLY IN KITCHENER, ONTARIO, CANADA......eh.
  22. :rotfl:For those of you who are sick of getting emails that tell you to forward it to at least X number of people in the next 15 minutes so that wonderful things and miracles will happen if you do, or there will be serious consequences if you don't, then you will enjoy this. Make sure your volume is on, this is great. This is hilarious! (and it's ABOUT TIME someone did this!) http://info.org.il/irrelevant/may02-smilepop-soapbox4.swf :rotfl:
