  1. "Good Looks" catch the eye! But a "Good Personality" catches the Heart! Many people walk in and out of your life, but only "True Friends" will leave footprints in your Heart!
  2. Found this poem on Facebook, thought everyone would enjoy it......... When an old man died in the geriatric ward of a nursing home in an Australian country town, it was believed that he had nothing left of any value. Later, when the nurses were going through his meagre possessions, They found this poem. Its quality and content so impressed the staff that copies were made and distributed to every nurse in the hospital. One nurse took her copy to Melbourne. The old man's sole bequest to posterity has since appeared in the Christmas editions of magazines around the country and appearing in mags for Mental Health. A slide presentation has also been made based on his simple, but eloquent, poem. And this old man, with nothing left to give to the world, is now the author of this 'anonymous' poem winging across the Internet. Cranky Old Man What do you see nurses? . . .. . .What do you see? What are you thinking .. . when you're looking at me? A cranky old man, . . . . . .not very wise, Uncertain of habit .. . . . . . . .. with faraway eyes? Who dribbles his food .. . ... . . and makes no reply. When you say in a loud voice . .'I do wish you'd try!' Who seems not to notice . . .the things that you do. And forever is losing . . . . . .. . . A sock or shoe? Who, resisting or not . . . ... lets you do as you will, With bathing and feeding . . . .The long day to fill? Is that what you're thinking?. .Is that what you see? Then open your eyes, nurse .you're not looking at me. I'll tell you who I am . . . . .. As I sit here so still, As I do at your bidding, .. . . . as I eat at your will. I'm a small child of Ten . .with a father and mother, Brothers and sisters .. . . .. . who love one another A young boy of Sixteen . . . .. with wings on his feet Dreaming that soon now . . .. . . a lover he'll meet. A groom soon at Twenty . . . ..my heart gives a leap. Remembering, the vows .. .. .that I promised to keep. At Twenty-Five, now . . . . .I have young of my own. Who need me to guide . . . And a secure happy home. A man of Thirty . .. . . . . My young now grown fast, Bound to each other . . .. With ties that should last. At Forty, my young sons .. .have grown and are gone, But my woman is beside me . . to see I don't mourn. At Fifty, once more, .. ...Babies play 'round my knee, Again, we know children . . . . My loved one and me. Dark days are upon me . . . . My wife is now dead. I look at the future ... . . . . I shudder with dread. For my young are all rearing .. . . young of their own. And I think of the years . . . And the love that I've known. I'm now an old man . . . . . . .. and nature is cruel. It's jest to make old age . . . . . . . look like a fool. The body, it crumbles .. .. . grace and vigour, depart. There is now a stone . . . where I once had a heart. But inside this old carcass . A young man still dwells, And now and again . . . . . my battered heart swells I remember the joys . . . . .. . I remember the pain. And I'm loving and living . . . . . . . life over again. I think of the years, all too few . . .. gone too fast. And accept the stark fact . . . that nothing can last. So open your eyes, people .. . . . .. . . open and see. Not a cranky old man . Look closer . . . . see .. .. . .. .... . ME!! Remember this poem when you next meet an older person who you might brush aside without looking at the young soul within. We will all, one day, be there, too!
  3. Started riding again 2yrs ago at 53 after a heart attack (figured if i was going to die it was not going to be walking down the hall at 3 am ). Smoked 12 cigars aday , 50lbs over weight , and diabetic ( 3 strikes your out ) . Quit smoking the day of my heart attack , now manage my diabeties , lost 50lbs. Now get up 7 days aweek at 4:30 am and go 1 mile on treadmill . 6:pm another mile on treadmill (everyday) . Use bowflex 30 mi 3 days a week . Before heart attack could not walk 100 ft without hips and feet killing me . Would not have been able to manage such a heavy bike as the venture . Point being i think we all should be spending more time devoted to our own well being and not worrying how to change our bikes to fill our laxing life styles. ( ps dont mean to preach but i fell great , hips and feet don"t hurt and hope to be riding this bike another 15yrs )

  5. I had my annual heart check up today at the Columbia Heart Clinic, when the Mechanic came and said there was a 07 Blue and Black venture on a trailer in the parking lot with Florida tags. Don't know if it was someone here, but I can see why he was at the heart clinic if he is tailoring a venture. :rotf:

  7. I have only popped in every once in awhile. It all started back in Aug when I finally got a clean bill of health from my Doc on my Bi-femurial Aorta bypass and was released to pursue all activities. My Mom calls and informs me she has stage 4 lung cancer and will not take any treatments to extend her life. I went to CA right away and got to spend the last 2 months of her life with her. She never had any pain and had great Hospice care. She passed in her sleep Oct 27. Since then there has been 6 more deaths in my family with the last being the hardest to take. My 19 yr old nephew who has lived with me for the last 6 yrs died from heart arrhythmia of unknown cause. I just returned from CA today from my 3rd trip out. Finished up with Mom's estate and put her house up for sell and had a offer in 3 days from a couple in Canada which was accepted and if all goes well will close June 7th. Then I will be ready for some riding.
  8. I have a close friend that is having open heart surgery this Thursday, they are going to remove his heart, repair the aorta and replace it. Please keep my friend in your thoughts and prayers.
  9. sad news today. davey jones age 66 of the monkeys passed away from a heart attack. RIP davey
  10. Merry Christmas To All ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- “Are you ready for Christmas?” “Ready for Christmas,” she said with a sigh As she gave a last touch to the gifts piled high… Then wearily sat for a moment and read, Til soon, very soon, she was nodding her head. Then quietly spoke a voice in her dream, “Ready for Christmas, what do you mean?” She woke with a start and a cry of despair. “There’s so little time and I’ve still to prepare. Oh, Father! Forgive me, I see what You mean! To be ready means more than a house swept clean. Yes, more than the giving of gifts and a tree. It’s the heart swept clean that He wanted to see, A heart that is free from bitterness and sin.” So be ready for Christmas - and ready for Him.
  11. :Happy Birthday: Honey, I love you with all my heart. Happy Birthday :Crazy_139:
  12. I don't post here to often lately, but I need your help! Lat night I received a call from my 93 year old Mom. She lives alone in northern Wisconsin and got a call from her doctor saying she needs a bypass. I live in georgia and can't be there all the time, but she called in a panic. When I talked to her she was in shock and didn't ask the Doc any quesions of consequences or options so I'm waiting for a call from him this morning. Please pray for her health and peace of mind and heart!

  16. Well, I now have my bike up in Massachusetts, going to be here till September, looking forward to riding here in the North-East, Trailered the bike up here from Fla, two trucks and two u-hauls, left on Fri, couldn't stand it today, let my deckhand drive my vehicle, so took it off the trailer and rode it the last 200 miles, my buddies truck was pooping out, and it was just a beautiful day, TILL- some a*#hole alomost ran me into the wall on the inside on 195N in New Bedford, Mass., came across three lanes, talking on his cellphone, never even saw me, yep, nothing like a rush of adrenalin, and your heart pumping to make you feel alive, reminds you why you have to stay on the ball constantly when riding, if I had been daydreaming it would have been all over. So now, here I am in Wareham, MA, getting excited about the summer to come, and LIFE is good.:cool10::cool10:

  19. I love this Doctor! Q: Doctor, I've heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life. Is this true? A: Your heart only good for so many beats, and that it... Don't waste on exercise. Everything wear out eventually.. Speeding up heart not make you live longer; it like saying you extend life of car by driving faster. Want to live longer? Take nap. Q: Should I reduce my alcohol intake? A: No, not at all. Wine made from fruit. Brandy is distilled wine, that mean they take water out of fruity bit so you get even more of goodness that way. Beer also made of grain. Bottom up! Q: How can I calculate my body/fat ratio? A: Well, if you have body and you have fat, your ratio one to one. If you have two bodies, your ratio two to one, etc. Q: What are some of the advantages of participating in a regular exercise program? A: Can't think of single one, sorry. My philosophy is: No pain...good! Q: Aren't fried foods bad for you? A: YOU NO LISTEN! Food are fried these day in vegetable oil. In fact, they permeated by it. How could getting more vegetable be bad for you?!? Q : Will sit-ups help prevent me from getting a little soft around the middle? A: Definitely not! When you exercise muscle, it get bigger. You should only be doing sit-up if you want bigger stomach. Q: Is chocolate bad for me? A: Are you crazy?!? HEL-LO-O!! Cocoa bean! Another vegetable! It best feel-good food around! Q: Is swimming good for your figure? A: If swimming good for your figure, explain whale to me.. Q: Is getting in shape important for my lifestyle? A: Hey! 'Round' is shape! Well... I hope this has cleared up any misconceptions you may have had about food and diets. And remember: Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming " YEE-HAW, what a ride!!" AND..... For those of you who watch what you eat, here's the final word on nutrition and health. It's a relief to know the truth after all those conflicting nutritional studies. 1. The Japanese eat very little fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans. 2. The Mexicans eat a lot of fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans. 3. The Chinese drink very little red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans. 4. The Italians drink a lot of red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans. 5. The Germans drink a lot of beer and eat lots of sausages and fats and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.. CONCLUSION: Eat and drink what you like. Speaking English is apparently what kills you
  20. It is not the easiest thing I have ever done. Hopefully will be the first and last time. On Monday evening I responded to a very well known address, CPR in progress, possibly heart attack. With all the effort, all the meds, all we had in us we poured into this code patient. Now with a deeply hurting heart tomorrow I say goodbye for the last time to one of our own. Our emergency services director who has built our E911 system to what it is, helped neighboring communities do the same, and she lived for nothing more then to serve the community through our emergency communication facility. I was assigned to assembling the line up of emergency apparatus for the funeral procession. I have detailed our units until I cannot clean no more, have units coming from 6 neighboring communities consisting of fire, police, and ambluance, as well as NE Missouri emergency managment and Air Evac lifeflight lifeteam. No matter if its fire, police, emt, dispatcher, or director, to me we are one of the same. I think I did all I could to make this as fitting as possible to honor her career. I hope it all works out good. Their will be 2 TV stations there as well so I will post some footage of the procession when available. This is a tough assignment and I just hope I completed it to the families satisfaction.
  21. 1st Lady: Hi, I'm Wanda! 2nd Lady: Hi, I'm Sylvia, how'd you die? Wanda: I froze to death. Sylvia: How horrible! Wanda: It wasn't too bad. After I quit shaking from the cold, I began to get warm and sleepy and finally died a peaceful death. What about you? Sylvia: I died of a massive heart ataack. I suspected that my husband was cheating, so I came home early to catch him in the act. But, instead, I found him all by himself in the den watching TV. Wanda: So what happened? Silvia: I was so sure there was another woman there that I dashed running all over the house looking. I ran up into the attic and searched, and then down into the basement. Then I went through every closet and checked under all the beds. I kept this up until I'd looked everywhere, and finally became so exhausted that I just keeled over with a heart attack and died. Wanda: Too bad you didn't look in the freezer.....We'd both still be alive today!
  22. Doing the left eye first! And of course with the oily environment at work, I'm forced to take the next 2 weeks off on DB! Breaks my heart...

  24. To all of you, Haylie and I want to say Merry Christmas and thank you! So many of you sent me notes and helped us out I just couldn’t answer everyone and thank everyone. You all brought a smile to my face along with tears and I will never forget! My brother does a lot of traveling and he used some of his frequent flyer miles to book Haylie and I a trip home to my family in Ohio for Christmas. Tho we are getting excited about it, its bitter sweet in a way : ( Even tho my future is kind of “unknown” at this time, I am doing whatever I have to for us as best I can. It is starting to slowly get a little easier settling into being alone but all the emotional trash is still raw. I am having to make some tough decisions as I go along because of some bad choices someone else is making. My heart truly aches for him because he is blinded to how it will all end up coming back to hurt him some day. Please keep him in your prayers. I am truly trying to forgive and treat him as best I can, but believe me some days I lose my temper. Legalities are started and we will see where that goes after the 1st of the year : ( Thanks to you all Christmas will be better than I anticipated for Haylie, I didn’t want it to be any worse for her than it had to be. The way I see it, the past cpl years have been pretty tough for us and they can only get better now. I owe a lot to God and my faith, He has never failed me thru it all I hope all of you have a wonderful Christmas full of love and family and blessings! You all have a special place in my heart!
