  1. Yeah ... I know ... personal preference and all... I am looking to get some for engine lights and ground effects, and I am just looking for opinions on a color choice. I have a Black Cherry '06 RSV and I was going to go with green, but am now thinking it might look muddy. What do you guys think? I am open to all suggestions ... nothing wrong with white ... red? purple?? I just have a feeling that buying a single color set might be better quality than a multi color set...? Oopinions on that? Thanks all!
  2. Angelo

    Battery

So I keep getting punished for teasing everyone about the wonderful weather we are having here. My battery capped out on my bike, fortunately in my garage and not somewhere away from home, but still ruined a nice day for a ride even if it was to work. Before I go and buy a battery to replace mine I've learned to bounce things off you guys so here it goes again. Any batteries out there that is a benefit over the stock ones in these bikes? Can't imagine there are too many options out there but I figure I should check just in case.
  3. Hey guys! I need to replace my carb intake manifolds because they are cracked. I believe i have found the part, but im stupid with part numbers and all of that, so is this correct? 4XY-13586-01-00 YAMAHA JOINT, CARBURETOR 1
  4. Hey guys! Getting ready to do the valve job and carb clean and I see I've got cracks in my intakes. I know they don't leak and aren't known for failing but I'm thinking about putting some of that spray on rubber sealant just for good measure. You guys think this will be an effective fix or will I just be wasting my time/money?
  5. So I just renewed my membership for year #4 after 3 years of ownership. You guys helped me decide on the original purchase, helped figure out what I actually purchased, helped me extensively through many repairs including the whole scary front end/fork seal/ triple tree bearing repair and most importantly getting it all put back together. Since the original 89 purchase, I have bought two 1984 parts bikes, a 1987 Venture Royale, and helped my son-in-law purchase his 1986 Venture Royale (thanks 1Rooster). I did have to stop my bike form reading the forum since she decided to develop many symptoms that others were posting about regarding their bike. So for Year #4...thanks guys and gals !!!! Just found my original Purchase pictures: Now those of you that lost the pool on whether I would last or get kicked off of here....pay up !!
  6. Just paid my yearly fee, best $12 bucks I ever spent on a motorcycle,, Thank guys, this is a great site
  7. Starting to get some slipping in 5th gear. The bike has 42,500 miles and it feels like I am riding into a heavy wind. Kinda a pause type feel while at speed. Also when I get on throttle in 5th it rpms up then takes off. But only in top gear. What do you guys think? You know..now that I think about it, I never noticed it until I went from Mobil 20w-50 synthetic to the Mobil Racing 4T 10w-40...could that be an issue? Thanks guys.
  8. HEY Annie, its Friday in the land of OZ. I wonder if you guys are still there!:rotfl::rotfl:
  9. I have a friend, Bro. Richard, A Baptist Minister and fellow CMA member who owns this Gold Wing. He has asked me a tech question and I don't knw but I assured him that I had other friends (namely youse guys) who might be able to help. He has added rear speakers with volume control and they work; but, now he has no intercom.........he can hear on the intercob but can not talk through it. Any ideas???
  10. Been xmas shopping at the HD shops. My wife really likes their cloths. High quality at a high price I tell her. She really came around with this new bike and has taken an interest in my riding. Im glad after 30 years on the road. Did you guys know that some Harleys have four wheels ? After a month of bickering with my salesperson at my local Ford dealer and a counrty search I bought a new truck. First time they were offered in white.
  11. :cool10:I am thankful for the wind in my face, the road in my rearview, and freedom...... I love you guys have a great day....

  13. Thank goodness to the Man up above I have now made my 1 year anniversary from taking out that 8 point buck last year (sure wish I had those antlers!), back into riding a bit and making it back into full time work and $$ producing! I want to say THANK YOU to everyone on here that bought a raffle ticket for the "Aussie Annie" trailer last year to help us thru this time, it was amazing and truly let us know how we are appreciated around here. I have no other "family" like you guys that know how to make a guy feel after the devastating effects that happened. We shall be happy to see a lot of you next year via MD and the Int'l Rally! Thanks again, Dano and Rose :bighug:
  14. Ok, I have been thinking about building my own trailer. I have been trying to come up with something unique but not break the bank. So instead of the car top shell on a trailer, I was thinking of using an old jet ski hull. Some thing like this http://www.ebay.com/itm/98-SEADOO-GSX-LTD-LIMITED-SEA-DOO-SEA-DOO-JETSKI-HULL-BODY-SHELL-ONLY-98-2-/150810965330?_trksid=p2045573.m2042&_trkparms=aid%3D111000%26algo%3DREC.CURRENT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D27%26meid%3D2910077393800632983%26pid%3D100033%26prg%3D1011%26rk%3D1%26sd%3D150810965330%26 What do you guys think? would it be to heavy? I figure a good strong fiberglass hull would be easy to convert into a trailer shell not to mention it would look pretty cool being towed behind the bike. Thoughts??
  15. Drafting Guys Over 60 This is funny & obviously written by a Former Soldier... New Direction for any war: Send Service Vets over 60! http://us.mg205.mail.yahoo.com/ya/download?mid=2%5f0%5f0%5f1%5f243996%5fAMHVimIAAREoUIVdsgpndxDcSn0&pid=1.2&fid=Inbox&inline=1&appid=YahooMailRC I am over 60 and the Armed Forces thinks I'm too old to track down terrorists. You can't be older than 42 to join the military. They've got the whole thing ass-backwards. Instead of sending 18-year olds off to fight, they ought to take us old guys. You shouldn't be able to join a military unit until you're at least 35. For starters, researchers say 18-year-olds think about sex every 10 seconds. Old guys only think about sex a couple of times a day, leaving us more than 28,000 additional seconds per day to concentrate on the enemy. Young guys haven't lived long enough to be cranky, and a cranky soldier is a dangerous soldier. 'My back hurts! I can't sleep, I'm tired and hungry.' We are impatient and maybe letting us kill some ******* that desperately deserves it will make us feel better and shut us up for awhile.. An 18-year-old doesn't even like to get up before 10am. Old guys always get up early to pee, so what the hell. Besides, like I said, I'm tired and can't sleep and since I'm already up, I may as well be up killing some fanatical s.o.b. If captured we couldn't spill the beans because we'd forget where we put them. In fact, name, rank, and serial number would be a real brainteaser. Boot camp would be easier for old guys.. We're used to getting screamed and yelled at and we're used to soft food. We've also developed an appreciation for guns. We've been using them for years as an excuse to get out of the house, away from the screaming and yelling. They could lighten up on the obstacle course however... I've been in combat and never saw a single 20-foot wall with rope hanging over the side, nor did I ever do any pushups after completing basic training. Actually, the running part is kind of a waste of energy, too... I've never seen anyone outrun a bullet. An 18-year-old has the whole world ahead of him. He's still learning to shave, to start a conversation with a pretty girl. He still hasn't figured out that a baseball cap has a brim to shade his eyes, not the back of his head. These are all great reasons to keep our kids at home to learn a little more about life before sending them off into harm's way. Let us old guys track down those dirty rotten coward terrorists. The last thing an enemy would want to see is a couple million pissed off old farts with attitudes and automatic weapons, who know that their best years are already behind them. HEY!! How about recruiting Women over 50...in menopause!!! You think MEN have attitudes?? Ohhhhhhhhhhhh my God!!! If nothing else, put them on border patrol. They'll have it secured the first night! Send this to all of your senior friends...it's in big type so they can read it.
  16. It's been a while since I laughed this much the first thing in the morning. Every time I looked at this pic I have to chuckle..... Look at those two guys looking at each other. http://images.politico.com/global/2012/09/biden_bikers_605_ap.jpg Cruisers Diner in Seaman, Ohio
  17. http://www.bikerspost.com/forum/topics/driver-hits-motorcyclist-flees-the-scene The guy on the bike must have been doing this guy's wife or something
  18. Looking for a go cart for my youngest and found Discount Go Carts and curious if any members around Houston have heard anything positive or negatives on these guys. Thanks
  19. We were in chat last nite with one of our newer members and the discussion got around to trailers and he has another trailer just like this one! He wants to know who it is to talk with him but I can't remember the guy's name for the life of me! So help me out, getting senile...
  20. A guy I know is selling this '82 Wing Interstate, and I thought some of you more knowledgeable 1st gen guys would like to see it. It's a sweet little ride, but I have no idea if it's worth what he's asking. Just curious. http://atlanta.craigslist.org/wat/mcy/3220528461.html
  21. Well, Erv and I are adjusting to the place sans Rocket and Grump. Having those guys here was an absolute delight! Good company, late nights and a "home-brew beer tasting event" which occured the night after a tequila and whiskey tasting event. We had plenty of food, plenty of chatting, and good company. So glad to have these guys hang out and just commune. Even with all the libations, things stayed low-key, friendly, and created warm memories. Paul even found one of Black Owl's roosts! (note the arrows in the eyes) Thank you both, Paul and Rod, for enriching our lives. Teri (the redhead of Pakidaho) and Erv. http://venturerider.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=70560&d=1344637895
  22. If anyone is interested, this skill riding competition at the Aylmer OPP Police College is open to the public and free to attend. The advanced riders will compete on Sat. Aug. 11 starting a 9:00 am. I know some guys that will be in the competition and have seen what they can do. Sounds like a fun day. Check out some of the video in the attached link. http://www.glpmts.com/2012-registered-police-services.html
  23. OK, so I rode up to Helen, GA the other day as I live about 30 min south for Oktoberfest. First time Ive ever had traffic to sit in up in the mountains which is pretty much all I ride. as I sit still at an idle, she starts to smoke. as I begin to move the smoke continues but as I ride out it goes away. Out of curiosity, I've repeated this process and sure enough, it happens just the same. I thought about rings maybe but as I'm reading through, I'm wondering about valve adjustment. I would think if it were rings, it may smoke all the time???? not sure. She's got 45,000 miles on her and if I were to guess, she's not been adjusted. Found a great write up on second gen valve adjustments but no luck finding on here about the 1st gen. sounds like a heck of a job but given my service manuals, you guys and my total disregard for digging into something I've never done before..... well I just don't see why we cant make this just work like a stinking charm! lol Anywho, any thoughts? any links to posts I've not found yet or anything else that could be helpful would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys and gals! Jay
  24. Forgot to post this pic I took on our Newnan M&E. This little guys name is Lucky!!!
