experience with a battery desulfater?

Recommended Posts

I have been looking at ads and info on the net about battery desulfators. Given the long rest periods over our Canadian winters, I have had the experience of replacing batteries come spring and thereafter.

Anybody have experience with these?

They look like a great deal to me!

Can someone give me a good explaination how on this 'desulfator" works etc? Would that make my battery last longer? Rejuvinate it? Battery Viagra??

My very basic understanding is that you take a complete electrically drained battery and do a reverse charge. This can cause all the crap that's built up on the lead plates to come off. You then clean the battery out by draining the acid and refill with fresh and it gives new life to an old battery.

It's a lot of work and LEGAL disposal of the sulphuric acid can be a pain in butt.

If you used very large expensive batteries, it would most likely be a viable solution, but for standard automotive and motorcycle batteries, new ones with warranties are cheaper.

Once again, that's just a very, very, very, simplified, basic overview from my understanding and is not 100 percent correct.:080402gudl_prv:
