a1bummer Posted October 25, 2009 Share #1 Posted October 25, 2009 Is there a carb rebuild kit for the first gens? Or does someone at least have a list with part numbers of all the gaskets, etc. that we need? thanx, Bill
Grisolm1 Posted October 25, 2009 Share #2 Posted October 25, 2009 I just bought a set of 4 from Tas Classic Motorsports off ebay for ~$80 ($20 each). These are K&L kits made in Japan for the VMAX. I am told most of the stuff will fit my 88VR. Kit's have bowl gasket, flat gasket, bunch of O rings and float valve assy. Look to be fresh and of good quality. Diaphragms need to be bought separately. Will do the rebuild over the winter and add 5Bikes needle valve spacing mod.
a1bummer Posted October 25, 2009 Author Share #3 Posted October 25, 2009 How long ago was that? They don't list anything of the sort on their site.
MiCarl Posted October 25, 2009 Share #4 Posted October 25, 2009 I can get you the K&L Vmax kit. Here is what you need to know: - Bowl o-ring is the same on the Vmax and the MK1 Venture - Float valve is different. Now, the Vmax valve may just be a higher flow rate valve and drop right in or it might not work. - All the other little o-rings tend to be fairly universal. As stated previously, the slide is not part of the kit. I can also get the slide assemblies. This would be the whole slide, not just the replacement rubber. Grisolm1 Posted October 26, 2009 Share #5 Posted October 26, 2009 Bought the K&L kits just a few weeks ago from TAS classic motorsports. They have a website and you can call them. Probably sell to you w/o ebay. The tend to specialize in older machinery.
