Daughters 1st road trip on the RSV

Well, I took my 4 (almost 5) year old daughter on her 1st road trip this weekend. When I returned from Kitchener (her brother got to go on that trip) she wanted a turn for a road trip on the bike. We traveled 544 miles through the mountains of VA this past weekend including 120 miles on the Blue Ridge Parkway. We had beautiful weather and she did GREAT. It was such a nice ride I will prabably take her again in the fall when the leaves are turning.

I bet your daughter had a great time! Mine keeps trying to get me to take her but I havent got a helment for her yet and I will not let her ride with out it. I do have a question, are those arm rests for the passenger on your bike or something else? and were did you get them? Oh and does the sheep skin I see you have help any? My butt gets so hot in the seat of mine I am moving around alot after I ride alittle bit. Thanks and enjoy the time with your kids they grow way to fast!!

Scary enough, she can keep up with her brother pretty well. Guess that means another off duty job is in my future.

They are armrest, they are from Diamond R. I actually got them from another member who no longer needed them. I am not sure if they are still making the eagle variety, but I know they have the regular ones. The sheepskin does help, I got mine while in Kitchener and have used it ever since. Seems to really help with the 'monkey butt'.

I too took a young on a trip today, albeit just around the country "block". My little buddy Nathan from Columbus, Ohio was in town so his Grammy and brother could go to the "YellowFlag" 400. It was his first ride on a bike and he loved it.

Kids U have a year to prove you can keep your rooms clean , laundry done

dinner cooked & on the table, bike washed & waxed, Oh whats that Baxter,

you finnished weeding the garden & are having problems starting the lawnmower.

Atta boy Baxter, your sister better pull up her socks or she isnt going next year.

Tell me how it goes, now just sit back & relax & see who brings dad that cold beer

Unfortunately I have to work that weekend and won't be able to make it down to Asheville, but depending on your plans we can meet up for lunch on your trip down or back.

In WI, it is illegal to carry a child under the age of 8. Apparently, that is the age where you can maintain balance when you fall asleep. Hence, younger kids falling out of bed. However, with the seat belt it looks like you have that possibility covered. Also, love the boots.

Of the first time we took our daughter and son on their first long trip into the Adirondacks here in New York. My daughter rode in the sidecar while my then 7 year oldrode behind me belted to the padded backrest. That was back in 97 now they own and ride their own bikes and have escorted me back to the mountains on their own bikes.

They are both great riders. Maybe your kids will be riding with you :7_2_104[1]:someday too.

One caveat: At least in Indiana the law requires that the passenger be able to actually put their feet on the passenger foot boards/pegs/whatever. Yes, both at the same time. I clamped some wood blocks to the ones on the '85 so we could start a bit early. A county mounty harrumphed us once, but let it slide. (Not trying to be a wet blanket, honest. Just a heads up.)

One caveat: At least in Indiana the law requires that the passenger be able to actually put their feet on the passenger foot boards/pegs/whatever. Yes, both at the same time. I clamped some wood blocks to the ones on the '85 so we could start a bit early. A county mounty harrumphed us once, but let it slide. (Not trying to be a wet blanket, honest. Just a heads up.)

VA law says that the passenger has to have a place to put their feet, so since she can't reach the boards she using the top of the saddlebag. I got some nonslip cabinet liners and cut them down to put on top of the saddlebag lid so her feet don't slip and it also protects the paint.

I am looking into a way of mounting some highway pegs to the front saddlebag crash bar so she can have an actual footpeg and I could also use them as highway pegs for my son. If I ever get it worked out I'll post it up.
