Linked intake

I saw a modification on another site which claims that linking the intake ports by joining the same vacuum ports which we use for sincronizing the carbs gives somewhat better low end torque, albeit at a slight sacrifice of idle smoothness....Has anyone here ever done such a thing?????????

Its called the Jason mod I believe. I have it done on my bike. I couldnt tell you if its any better or not as this was already done when I bought the bike. I havent driven one that wasnt done.

I did it several years ago on a first Gen I had but I think it is a waste of time besides making the bike idle sort of rough.

I don't believe it does much for the second gen either and the second gen has a little bit of a rough idle anyway.

Try it, it doesn't take much time and it won't hurt anything.

I have seen this type of response from quite a few people.

That's my opinion also. I tried it and left it that way for probably a year or so but saw no benefit at all. Finally just capped them all.

Same thing I did. The holes are way to small to really be of any help. Now if someone would just build some boots joined together this thing would be dangerous.

Thank for the responses, I sort of suspected that might be the case. I still have faith in the engineers who designed the system as it is.
