Replacement Bolts for Yamaha Trunk Rack

Are you tired of having your helmets scratched by those terrible bolts that Yamaha provides with the trunk rack? Here is an easy fix - just go to your local hardware store and pick up some low-profile replacements in M6-1.00x16 size. Here are the ones I got at Lowes:

I know this is pretty obvious, but I thought some of you might appreciate having the bolt size instead of having to remove one of the existing bolts and take it in to match up.

Yeah I did that also. Trunk is just a little small for the ARAI helmets. Still gets dings in it from time to time with the smaller heads but not as bad.

Thought about taking the rubber mat out and spraying the bottom with something but haven't done that yet, to many other things I need to do before that.

I just applied some of the adhesive backed 2" loop velcro over the bolt heads . You know the fuzzy side ? But a smaller head on them bolts will help alot !

I adhesived small round felt pads over mine. I didnt realize that this would happen untill I went to get out my helmet and wondered what the heck happend.

Now I know.

Michaels craft store sells sheets of "peal & stick" thin rubber faced, felt faced, or vinyl faced 8" x 11" sheets ..

you can cover the whole bottom side of the trunk lid...

I used a piece of adhesive backed weather stripping and scooped out enough to cover the bolts.
