Default 1989 1st Gen. For sale

I guess it's time. Had an ear operation this past Monday and Doc said no riding for a while. Could be some months. He found something on my ear drum and had to take 2/3rds of the drum and some of the teeny anvil out. Rebuilt the drum but they don't staple or glue them in...just a press fit and hope it holds. We won't know if the rebuild sticks or not for at least 3 weeks...and another few months of healing before I can do much.

So...the 1st Gen (which I was thinking of selling anyway)...is up for sale. I'm not in any hurry.

Here's where the bike is at:

1: Still has that slight oil leak on lower left by the kickstand that I never found where it was coming from. Most of the plastic is in good shape. There are still some tabs I haven't rebuilt.
2: Motor runs and shifts strong and smoothly. Runs clean.
3: LED headlight. RLU was bypassed but will be included and can be plugged back in. I used jumpers. Additional LED strip lights under each cowl side. Additional bulb lights in rear.
4: Just noticed the left fork is leaking from the seal. Weird...as there is little pressure left in forks. I usually run with 7lbs in front and 24 ish in rear. Forks hold air, front and rear up to full pressure. Wonder if the last time I put full pressure in (May) to put bike on center stand...some dirt in seal caused the leak. Found some 35mm film and will run it around the seal and find out. Once I'm able to do some work...I'll do the fill oil in fork thing!~
5: Shinko 230 Tourmasters. About 2/3rds done in rear. Still ride well and stick like glue.

Has been a weekly rider until May when I put both scoots away for the summer. Been run since and has stable in gas. Once I check out the front forks, I wouldn't hesitate to take off across the country with her...if the Doc would allow!

Everything works. Even the cassette deck..though it can take a minute to take off! It humors me so I've left it alone after putting new belts in.

BTW, some extras come with if you come and get her...or...? I'll have to dig through the stuff to see what is still around. I know another swing arm is available....maybe some pipes too.

Pricing: Good question. I don't want much for her but probably $1500 will twist my arm enough to hand over the title. She's worth it....

Great looking bike. The 35mm tape will probably work, seems I do mine once a year. Good luck on your recovery .

Actually, Will, I was hoping now would be an OK time. I know it's not the best time. But a good time to ship a bike and go over her during the winter so she's ready for riding in the Spring. If you are like me, I always do just that....go over the scoot anyway, regardless of condition, just to check it out myself. I bought this 89 from Wisconsin in the dead of winter and shipped her out. Gave me time to go through her.

So if anyone is interested....let me know....I would prefer to ship with "Haul Bikes". Good people...

$600.00 door to door. Excellent communication as to where my 89 was. Even the driver called me on the cell...saying he was coming by shortly!
Not even a spec of dust on her when she got here...
