KAWoodworth Posted September 10, 2019 Share #1 Posted September 10, 2019 Since the Purolator oil filters have been redesigned and no longer work on the RSV. What is a good filter to use now.
grubsie Posted September 10, 2019 Share #2 Posted September 10, 2019 I have been using the K&N KN-303 or you can use the Mobil One M108. They are both at my local advanced auto store which is why I use them.

RonK Posted September 11, 2019 Share #4 Posted September 11, 2019 -- After much research, I believe the best now is the Fram XG 7317 which is a 20,000 mile filter. It's not at all like the cheaper starter Fram filter that has gotten all the bad reports. I use it now on my '18 Eluder and will on my Road Star. I did a lot of checking around and comparing a bunch of other brands/models before choosing this since, I too, had been using the old Purolator Pure One. --

big-norm Posted September 12, 2019 Share #6 Posted September 12, 2019 I use the FRAM XG6607 for my RSV. It’s been perfect https://www.fram.com/parts-search/XG6607/
N3FOL Posted September 18, 2019 Share #7 Posted September 18, 2019 That is true. I really am disappointed with Purolator. I have been a steady customer for them until the threads will not line up anymore. I ended up with 2 useless Purolator oil filters. At any rate, I switched to the FRAM ph6017 motorcycle filter and have been using it with no complaints at all.
Andy in AZ Posted October 13, 2019 Share #8 Posted October 13, 2019 (edited) Hyundai 26300-35505 It is made by Mann Hubble I'm using KIA 26300-2Y500. Got a 10 pack on ebay for $48 Looks just like a Yamaha OEM filter. Crosses over to a Fram MC filter PH 6017 Edited October 13, 2019 by Andy in AZ

It’s been perfect https://www.fram.com/parts-search/XG6607/ If you are into Fram stuff https://www.fram.com/parts-search/XG6607/ then try the XG7317 https://www.fram.com/parts-search/XG7317/ It is the TALL version. If you are into Fram stuff, try their CAR filter TG or XG 7317 https://www.fram.com/parts-search/XG7317/

RR https://www.fram.com/parts-search/ph6017a Yeah but... it is a cheaply made motorcycle filter. I do my shopping at Wallyworld also and they have the much better Fram CAR filter XG or TG 7317 filter. https://www.fram.com/parts-search/TG7317/ Wallyworld also now stocks (at least mine does) the much superior Hyundia/Kia filter made by Mann Hubble which also costs less than the 6017 Edited October 14, 2019 by Du-Rron
RedRider Posted October 14, 2019 Share #13 Posted October 14, 2019 Perhaps, but it has given me 162,000 miles without a hiccup (dino oil too). Doesn't burn any oil (had to add a smidge after a long run at 90 MPH - main tank and a 5 gal aux tank). The Kia/Hyundai filter is intriguing though. Will look for it next time. N3FOL Posted October 16, 2019 Share #16 Posted October 16, 2019 At any rate, just came from Wally Mart. I physically verified that both filters have similar size except the length. 7317 is longer than 6017. Same price as well. At any rate, I switched to the FRAM ph6017 motorcycle filter and have been using it with no complaints at all. See if you can exchange them for another brand. The Bosch has the same problem so I traded my extras in for Mobil One. I was using them on all of my vehicles. I won't any longer. I still have two for my VTX1300R. They still work on it. I still do not understand them changing without at least putting a letter after the number or better change the number. WIX 51356, NAPA Gold 1358, Mobil 108 I do not know what the number is for the longer one. I used to use the longer Pure One on my VTX and RSV Go over to the other site Yamaha Venture and Tour Deluxe site. There is a good list of filters that fit. BTW that site will be unsupported in February. I hope someone takes it over. I am too computer ignorant to do it.
