Stereo won't come off cass

I have a friend whose 2nd Gen stereo is stuck on CASS. CB will not come on and mode button does not change anything. Volume works great but she is getting tired of listening to the same cassette (or having to change cassettes). Tried to reset it to the point of disconnecting the battery. When the key is on, the display has CASS and you cannot change it. Both seats are off and cannot find any broken wires. Have not pulled the front fairing...YET. Any suggestions?

Unfortunately, you are going to need to pull the front fairing to further check it. There are five black cables inside the fairing. There have been many know instances where they need to be unplugged, possibly cleaned, and reconnected to remedy various stereo issues.

Be careful with the chrome chevron piece or better yet get someone who has removed it before . Reason the little tabs are easily broken---just use little pressure and work from center out.

...but there is a fix for the broken tabs which makes them better than new ! (Read Only section for 2nd Gens)

What happened with your friend's RSV?

I have been out of town so I will be checking tomorrow to see what has been done and if I need to pull the fairing. Thank you for all the replies.

Recent update. Still has the issue. Her plans are to take it to the dealer and have them look at it. Not my monkey, not my circus. Thanks for all your assistance.
