sidecar

Just wondering does anyone have a sidecar for their venture? I like to see a pic of it,

I was thinking of getting a side car, I hate to admit the reason I want it, so I can take my dog with me on rides. When he was small I would put a towel on the gas tank and ride him around the block. he has gotten a bit bigger.

I might start another post to see how others transport their pets.

Larry, I am considering doing the same to my RSV, I did find a few pictures of RSV's with sidecars on a couple of side car company sites.

http://www.texassidecars.com/yamaha.html if you go about half way down on the link for Texas side cars there is a Midnight with a ranger side car, only problem Texas Side car closed up this past July

http://www.championsidecars.com/escort.html on the Champion Side car site there is a RSV with an escort model side car, it is in the pictures that are on the page provided by the link

Also up here in Ontario on kijiji there is a RSV with a Hannigan side car

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the post, I looked at trailer kits, and know they would be a lot easier, but I hate to put it this way, it would look a lot cooler if the dog was riding next to me LOL

Now they are proud of those sidecars, they want as much for the side car as I paid for the bike.

But I do like the way it looks

There was a Venture w sidecar for sale on the USCA sidecar forum. I saw a guy with a large dog in a sidecar attached to a Rocket III.

That is why I wanted one so my best friend, my dog, could ride with me. Unfortunately he died before I could ever buy one. I even took a course on sidecar riding. Of course they are way different. I haven't totally forgotten the idea as it would be easier for my special needs daughter to travel with me plus I like it as an alternative to a trike but more work to ride.

I like the Hannigan out of Murray, KY.

Good luck.

I would keep an eye on Craigslist Larry, I am sure you can find one fairly reasonable, maybe do a country wide search thru a site like adhuntr.com . I know I passed on one in Indiana a couple years ago that came with a a non running 1st Gen attached to it for $1200. Seems like even an older Ural hack would work nicely for what your talking about. Thinking the biggy would be finding the proper hardware and setting it up properly.. Seems like @Carbon_One has or had one he was working on setting up a while back - maybe see if he responds here or PM him and pick his brain a little about it all..

Oh, wait a second here,, just read above where you talked about having the dog on your tank at one time,, thinking you are talking about side hackin out a Gen 2? I am thinking Carbon One was working on a 1st Gen,, may or may not be able to help but we shall see..

Hi Larry,

I hear ya on the cost, there is a small dealer here in my neck of the woods that sells Urals, Royal Enfields and Kymcos, but they also do alot of work on side cars. A couple weeks back we paid a visit to discuss a side car for my RSV.... man o man love the idea of a side car, but the extra 12,000 or so to get one on it is a bit daunting, checking some of the local adds here there are a few for sale but even the cost of those can be silly, I am in line with what Cowpuc said about a used Ural, that is another option we are looking at as well. The Ural is a very cool looking rig.

heck we have even found the doggles for the pooch so she can also go for rides.

Good luck with your search.

Mike

Thanks for all the help and post. I will keep my eyes open for one, and at the right time when funds and sidecar meet I will buy one. I thought of having one motorcycle with a sidecar for short trips and the other for long touring.

Later I will send pictures of my dog, how I came about this dog is kind of funny

There are numerous picture police (aka = :photographing::cop:) running around this place and the meter is now running on the pics of the dog:witch_brew::stickpoke::hihi:

I would never be bashful about wanting a rig to haul your pups or anything else you can fit onboard. My wife will no longer get on back of my GoldWing but she rides comfortably in the Champion Escort sidecar attached to my 03 Venture. We have a 16 lb Australian Terrier that tries to jump in the sidecar whenever the hood is raised. This combo is an extremely stable, comfortable and relaxing rig.IMG_0604.JPG

We ended up going the Ural route and have had it for about a year and a half, it is so much fun to ride and of course one of our dogs goes for rides all the time. It has got to the point the RSV doesn’t get taken out as much anymore we have it up for sale, if it sells ok if it doesn’t I will ride it when I can.

My 5 yr old was constantly asking to go for rides on the RSV and ended up going the same route and now he has his motorcycle and I have mine. Now it's regular dinner conversations of:

"Do you want to run some errands with me tonight?"

Can we take my motorcycle? Mommy, we'ere gonna take my motorcycle. Daddy, get my helmet and jacket!

He's already won a 3rd place car show ribbon with HIS bike...and we didn't even enter, just rode there.
