    Default Done with Harbor Freight

As some of you know, I have an issue with my 1000 lb lift I bought. Pump lasted for 3 uses. Well after many emails and waiting 14 weeks for a new pump, it arrived a last week. I installed it yesterday. Made sure it had plenty of oil, bled the air out per their instructions and it lifted the bike. ONCE. dropped it down, tried lifting it again and no way, no how, uh uh, not gonna happen. I emailed them requesting an authorization for a refund at my local store. Done with their half baked crap quality stuff. I will never shop there again.

Now I'm glad I started the thread asking if any others had experience with this lift. I was going to purchase one while it was on sale, but now I'm going to keep looking.

Harbor Freight does have some items that are great for home use, but they also have some junk. When I moved to Tennessee, I was happy to find out that there was a Harbor Freight store only 8 miles away, but I still don't buy very much there. Good luck with your refund.

I hear, feel and can relate to your anger and disappointment in HB equipment. I bought a set of extensions and every one of the ends broke off..not near as expensive as a lift but same point on the cheap stuff they sell. I have found a few good things though.

Just one thought here that you may have already thought of, but maybe there is another manufacturers pump that would fit/replace the pump you have? If you could find another type pump you might could end up with a darn good lift? Just a thought..

I look at Harbor Freight this way if I am only going to use it once I will buy it from them cheap, if I plan on using it over and over I buy from someone else.

Can you change to a different pump?

I have bought a lot of hand tools there and I am happy with them. I even have a couple of $29 1/2" drive impact wrenches that are decades old that still work fine. The 3/8" drive impact ratchet didn't last many years with my home use. Replaced it with an IR. Hydraulic jacks and electric motors, not the best. A few days ago, I needed a ball joint press for my old 02 F150 and I planned to buy HF, but many reviews talked of the press which is a giant c-clamp bending. So, I bought an OTC press made in the USA from Tool Topia. It worked great!

I could change to a different pump if I redesign the whole unit. The pump is actually welded to the pivot point, so just bolting on a different pump is not an option. Iam not going to invest anymore time or money into this P.O.S. It just needs to be gone at this point. Completely disgusted with it. It really ticks me seeing it sitting in my garage. Waiting on a reply from HF.

I feel the same way about the useless HF lift I have in my garage.

I bought some T-Handle allen wrenches from Jegs a few day's ago,it said "free shipping".Today I get invoice and see $4.99 for "handling". What was a good buy became average fast,I will never buy from them again. As far as I am concerned they lied to me.Handling my ass.

Too bad about your lift. Have a HF lift going on three years now and never have a problem. use to have a Sears across the street from the HF store and I couldn't tell the difference.

The downside to working with companies like this is as of like Home Depot and Lowe's they are just the supply agents most of these companies by spots on their shelves or solicit their product through a vendor. Trying to contact Home Depot Lowes or as of this one Harbor freight they would have to forward that message onto the supply company which is most likely Japan China or somewhere like that the unfortunate up that is they put out so many products they just don't care. The upside to this is if you can find a manufacturer's registration already think that affect you may be able to find aftermarket parts were directly contact the manufacturer and see if a part can be available at work as I had to go to Japan for a drive shaft for my Yamaha venture which stripped out on my bike at 12,000 miles . The Yamaha shop that I was working with refuse to honor the service contract on my bike because I had a trailer hitch.

Well they are sending me a prepaid shipping label. Once I receive that, they want me to box it up and send it back using the label. Once they receive it, they will "special order" another pump and send it to me. So another 14-16 weeks. First they suggested I take it to a "hydraulic repair specialist" for repair on my dime. I let them know what I thought of that idea. So they offered to do a free exchange. Undecided what to do at this point.

Hit and miss on their jacks. I have a alum "racing type" jack that has given me many years of good service. But when I worked in a race shop we bought 2 of the hyd lift tables (supposedly like 500 lb cap) and they lifted a maybe 100 lb gearbox 2 or 3 times before it puked. We had O rings and I rebuilt the one, but it still only lasted about 3 months. The shop bought 3 of the same racing type jacks I have and they still work far as I know and are like 15yr old.
For whatever reason the lift stands and tables, ATV type jacks just dont seem to have good jacks in them.

I have their 1500 lb motorcycle lift and been using it for 4 or 5 years. The only issue is it only lets bike down 1 speed, so you better have hold.

I have bought many of their products, some good, some bad. It is what it is. If it is something that I use daily, or heck, even weekly, I will purchase elsewhere. If it is an every once in a while took, and it looks and feels ok, I will buy it, but realizing what I am buying.

I have a die grinder and a cut off tool that I have been using for 8 years or so, and both are still working great. Bought them for like 10 bucks each. On the other hand, I have a DA sander that has air hissing thru it when it is just simply connected, but works. Just don't leave it hooked up unless you are wanting to give the air compressor a workout.

I will still buy from them. But only certain products.

BTW, I was looking at Sears little red 1500 lb jack. It is identical to the HF yellow one, except for the paint and label.
