  1. Eileen and I got home about 9:30 last night from a week on a houseboat on Lake Cumberlan in Kentucky. Could have easily enjoyed another week there doing nothing but floating around on the boat but all good things must come to an end I suppose. Had a great time though. I had internet there through my computer tethered to my phone but it was very slow. I checked in from time to time but if any of you addressed me specifically and got no answer, please let me know.
  2. Drove 110klm in the rain to Toronto this morning after work to deliver rad for you(Taz) to Kevin Black.Had no phone number so couldn't get a hold of him so I paid $15 and mailed it too him.Should get it next week sometime.
  3. Kent, thanks for the excellent info on alternative replacement parts. I had to replace my fuel pump this week and was able to pickup a Faucet pump at my local Car Quest.
  4. Those that have won auctions for St. Jude items, I will be shipping them next week, we are leaving for B2Dad & B2Mom M&E as soon as I get off work, if you are attending I will have items with me and you can collect them there, if not they will go out next week. I will have a limited number available to those who want them at the M&E, I will let Don and Patti determine how to distribute them.
  5. To all the 45-50 people that showed up at our Leakey,Texas MEET and Ride,a three day event THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts! At 60 years old I finally figured out it is hard to party , Ride, and eat (everything bad for you but so good) and a very few adult beverages for 3 days....but Im still going to keep doing it. JB and Maggie,Thanks again for the help in putting this together with me. I want to also thank the Wives of all the members everywhere as I realized us guys can think these things up but the actual execution is in reality the Women. THANK YOU TO ALL THE LADIES. This has become a MAJOR event and I was going to stop doing them as I thought that it would get old to alot of people but I was assured its just the beginning. Everyone there conducted themselves in a way that made me proud to be a VentureRider...That is where and what I want to see the VR.ORG group stay,"The cream of the Crop". The folks at friopecanfarm.com has reached out to us to hold our rallies there again,THAT says ALOT!! We had every cabin at their facility taken up by our group..We were told,"Dont worry about the 10PM quiet time, You all have the entire place to yourselves anyway!" Well all I can say is what a party. We are doing it again in November. We have a tentative date set but I have to get with JB as I start my work week that weekend on Sunday and to be honest I need a week to rest after all of this!! Again, Sorry for being long winded but Im proud of the group of people that came and contributed and helped others. THANKS EVERYBODY!!!! Tom and Debby

  7. Is there such a thing as too much seafoam ,, and is there a time limit to leave it soak . I am leaving my bike behind to go on a 3 week cruise(ship) and was wondering if it would hurt anything to leave seafoam soaking in my carbs?????
  8. 2nd generation 2005 RSV Trike, I parked trike a week ago in the garage and placed tender on battery. Tried starting tonight and have NO power. No radio, lights, satallite radio, dash or horn. Battery seems to check good, local Autozone confirmed it should be good. The alarm still activates but one thing I did notice is alarm has very week chirping when tripped. Checked main fuse it is good. I have no idea where to go next. Battery is original.
  9. Thanks to KIC for getting us intouch with his father to help us out while we visited old Tucson. The wife and I did 3,306 miles, visited Arizona, Neveda, and New Mexico. Went to Old Tucson studios, Hoover dam, Grand Canyon, and White sands. Got some Bad fuel my first day out. Worked it self out after a few fill ups and some STP. Almost lost a horn and a helmet hook but got both fixed. What a fun week of traveling.
  10. Just thought I would mention it. I ordered my BiXenon kit last week and it ended up on back-order however. http://shop.hidcountry.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=Moto%20Kit%20HDK1 Bill
  11. I ain't got enough to do so tonight I went back to school. Started a welding class. All types of welding. Two nights a week. Work out three nights a week. I might get a job!!
  12. On Monday I had an ultrasound biopsy on my prostate. It went well and by Monday evening I was feeling fantastic. On Tuesday I woke up feeling great and went to the office. Tuesday afternoon I worked in the garage for a bit but when I came into the house I had the chills. They got worse and I was shaking so hard I could hardly hold my phone to call my wife. Now I sit in the hospital as they pump antibiotics into me. My temp spiked at 103.8 for two hours! I shook for 4 hours. I may be luckily and get out tomorrow, maybe Friday. Appreciate prayers. What a week!
  13. will be there March 9th through the 15th.... anyone else going?
  14. Hey guys I was wondering since I just hooked up my side LED Reflectors and was doing some testing and I thought it would be cool to have them flash also if I ever turned on my flasher switch. I have the side markers tied right into the front blinkers/running/side lights so when I just have the key on (one click) the front and rears are only on. now when I hit the flashers everthing flashes except my side lights? I have my Fairing off all this week and just wanted to find out if I can make this happen:scratchchin:. Boy it's is really nice to have that front side of the bike lit up now. :-) Thanks for any advise. Jeff
  15. Had a beautiful 80 degree, blue sky ride thru the TN/NC mountains today. Linda and I packed a picnic lunch and looped thru the KOA in east Asheville. At this time, for the week of June 10-12, there are 14 cabins available and our campsites at the lilly pond are still available. As I have said, I want to see if there is much interest in getting together for a long weekend meet and eat. At this time I am planning on taking that week as vacation and starting at Freebird's MD and seeing where it goes from there. So, now it is time to see what we can put together. RandyA
  16. OK folks, I know that vitamins are important to us all but.... I haven't felt good for a while now. My wife is always on me to go see the doctor and find out what is wrong but I am pretty stubborn. Basically I just have no energy, severe insomnia, a list of other things. To be honest, I have been feeling really bad for a long time and my wife claims that I have been struggling for about 3 years now. So, she called me when I was away on one of my business trips a couple of weeks ago and told me that she had made me a doctors appointment and that I was expected to keep it. Don't you just hate pushy women. Went to the doc last week and they ran a lot of blood tests and etc. They concluded that my problem is a severe lack of Vitamin D. According to them, it is in the dangerous level. I know that vitamins are important but I don't think I realized that there was a "dangerous" level of a deficiency. I guess a usual daily dosage of vitamin D is around 1000 UI. They actually have me on prescription vitamin D for the next 8 weeds of 100,000 UI per week. I am taking one 50,000 UI prescription only vitamin D twice per week. After that they will check it again and then I will be on a typical over the counter strength. So my question is, have any of you ever had a problem with a severe vitamin D deficiency? Did you get it treated and did you feel much different afterwards? According to my online research over the past couple of days, it can lead to fatigue, insomnia, high blood pressure, Type II diabetes, impaired vision and a long list of other ailments. I have already "googled" it but I have found that "ventureridering" it can often lead to better search results.
  17. While in Florida last week I accidently found a gas station that is by now probably out of business or at least somebody lost their high paying attendant job. The street sign said $3.54 a gallon, same as everybody else - I thought Didn't pay too much attention until I got the receipt, 12.886 gallons cost $32.85 - I had to do a double take but it was real - $2.54 a gallon Since we were 750 miles from home, Linda refused to go get the truck so we could fill it up also.
  18. Well my '08 Lowrider is sold. I pick up a new ride this week. Let the farklein' begin! http://i521.photobucket.com/albums/w337/Owen064/b7a117ce7d07a16e57c8_1.jpg
  19. Dont see anything in the Favorite Roads and Destinations for Florida? On Way back from the keys in March, I am thinking about talking Rt 27 on 3/30-31/2012. Took the southern leg of 27 a couple years ago then jogged east of lake okechobee. Was 2nd week of June and the love bugs were terrible. 1. When is love bug season (there are 2?) 2. Would like to do the west side on this trip... Anyone travel it from start to finnish?
  20. Well it has been a really GREAT day for me. First GaryN stopped by the house,he is wintering here in Texas and not to far from me and then low and behold I talked with PONCH on the phone..He is doing great, recognized my voice on the phone,(Dont know how anyone would recognize my voice), and he is doing good and at home. He is still doing therapy 3 times a week but he is really a tough cookie! Thanks to both of the guys for our visit today. Gary, we will be camping with you in Kerrville week after next. Going to watch the weather and stay 2-3 days at the Buckhorn with you and Mary. Ride safe my friend!!
  21. New on the shelf at my local Wal-Mart, right next to the Seafoam, is what looks like a new product from STP. Even the can is a Seafoam knock-off! The verbiage on the can reads just like Seafoam, too. Anyone see this yet? It may have been out for awhile, but I just noticed it last week. It was on sale for about $1.50 less than SF, so I picked up a few cans to try out. I guess it supports the adage "if you can't beat em, join em"!
  22. I wondering if anyone has gone through this experience yet. I had to send my Zumo 550 away for replacement a week ago as it decided to stop working after 3 years. The screen touch went crazy. I should have the new refurbished one in the next week. I had purchased a lifetime map subscription last year. My question is whether the map update will transfer to my new Zumo. Do I have to call Garmin to make it happen? I also have the XM radio. I am assuming it will work no problem as the antenna/receiver is a seperate piece. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks JR
  23. Just a heads up. I've been out of fork braces for a couple of months now, but just put in an order for another 10. Only this time around they gonna be anodized black. Thought it would be different... I'll be posting an ad in the classifieds toward the end of next week since I don't know what the cost will be until I get the invoice. I generally want to know about the cost up front, but the machinest has been more than fair with us over the years. So next week.... Attached are a couple of pics of one on my '91 that show what they'll look like installed.
  24. Got a call yesterday afternoon from Uwe at UNB Customs in Denver, NC. My sidecar conversin is ready to pick up on Monday. The used sidecar became a mini nightmare. Originally it was connected to a HD Ultra and Uwe had to order the correct attachment arms. This was four weeks ago. Hannigan sent the wrong kit a week later, and it took another week to get the right kit. Uwe assembled the kit to find out that the attachment clips to the bike were wrong. Another week goes by and the clips come in. Uwe hooks these up and WHAT DO YOU THINK HAPPENS? The bolts on the upper attachment require one left hand thread and one right hand thread, they sent two right hand threaded bolts. But all is right with the world now. Plenty of time this winter to get used to this set up.
  25. Don't know if this is the right place to post this or not, but do any of you guys know of a good trunk rack for 2nd gens? The one from Star Motorcycles is expensive and, frankly, looks a little small. I'd like to spend a little less money, and I need to know that what I'm getting will fit a Venture. We're going on a 2 1/2 to 3 week trip next summer and a little more storage room would be nice. We've gone on the road for two weeks before and getting everything inside the hard bags is a tight squeeze sometimes, and we travel light! Ride Safe! 1/2crazed
