  1. Wow! I love this weather, November 29th and just barely jacket weather here in East Tennessee. Our daughter is in for Thanksgiving and happened to mention that she had never ridden the Dragon. So, of course, I knew then that I just had to take her there. We got there late in the afternoon and had the road almost to ourselves and rode end to end and back taking time to enjoy the ride. To top off the day we rode the Foothills Parkway from Tellico Lake to Hwy 321, then finished the day with a big steak at the local Outback. We rode right at 200 miles with great scenery and enjoyed a great meal. Life is good...
  2. Weather service is calling for 12 inches of rain in your area. You got a boat?:250:
  3. weather was awesome. i took off on my nomad at 6am and got home at 3:30 pm i think i rode almost 350 miles. every time i headed for home i would make a wrong turn and head in another direction. i think i broke 25,000 mile again this season. i'm tired of riding this year, so now that the cold weather is moving in i'm going to limit my winter rides to about 75 mi. max. keeping up with tires on five bikes is getting expensive. almost succumed to the dark side, but just can't seem to go against the tire engineers. so i guess i will be hunting for tires for my nomad. just turned over 8000 mi. this morning and the rear is gettin in the danger zone. what a great day.
  4. Was on a group ride this weekend and someone mentioned about a cheap mod we can do on the Venture to gain a couple hp. He said the Vmax is (or was) already setup like this. I don't remember the entire name but the last word was Ram. Something about tying the left 2 cylinders together and tying the right 2 cylinders together. Might be something as simple as taking a tube and connect to the spots where you connect the carbtune to. He said it works great in warm weather but will take longer for the engine to warm up in colder weather. Anyone heard of this? Not sure if I want to do this or not, but I would be interested in researching it at least.
  5. I hope someone here can steer me in the proper direction. I have a 2000 Ford Explorer Limited that I purchased about 2 years ago. It has the reverse sensing unit on it, where it beeps if you get close to anything backing up. I would like to find out how to set the darn thing so that the default is OFF. With cold weather setting in, the blankity thing is beeping at me from the exhaust steam. It is driving me nuts!!!!!!!! Any knowledge about these systems here? Thanks, Dave
  6. cant get the map and the weather to stay in signature Thanks Ralph
  7. For the Cody bunch, it seems we dodged a bullet. Local weather channel announced that there was 15" of snow in Red Lodge Montana yesterday (10/06/09). Furthermore, the same weather service noted that the Mt. Rushmore monument (official visitor center, I suppose) was closed due to snow.
  8. I just got word that an old friend of mine is retiring from the Air Force in mid-October. I'm thinking about riding the bike (from San Antonio) to Colorado Springs. I'm concerned about the weather that time of the year. I realize it is not in the mountains, but I wonder what the temperatures typically run at that time of year. Appreciate any input.
  9. Got in last night about 3am.... BURRR is all I can say. Got in some good riding while in TN. Put on close to 1k miles and saw some beautiful land. Rode the bike back into KY but the temp dropped and I didn't have the gear for cold weather with me. So, she got loaded back up and we trucked it home. I really hate Michigan....
  10. Had to light the pilot on the gas heat stove. What happened to the AC weather?
  11. I am curious. I have seen several posts about gear to stay warm when riding in colder weather, but nothing about gear for the warmer states. I would like gear that breathes a LOT. Considering in southern Louisiana, there is the constant race between the barometer and themometer as to which one reaches triple digits first. While I don't mind the net looking stuff, my wife finds it very uncomfortable - itchy to be exact. So I am open to most any suggestions. I just want some protection in case something unfortunate happens in the hot weather. Thanks,
  12. leaving fri......denver sat night......moab sun......if ya see a m&m...a beemer and a harly give me a wave.......hope the weather holds..........will be touring utah till next thursday.........later.....
  13. Been great riding weather up here in Michigan and bike has been broke since Aug. 22nd. There will be another 1st gen for sale soon. Need something newer, Good riding weather in Michigan is to few and far between. Venting done, continue with what you were doing.
  14. before I can put aside all the crap and head out for the Pork in the Pines. Promise to have enough fun for those who have found themselves in the position where they are unable to make it this year. Just heard the weekend weather forecast. Couldn't ask for better weather. We must be living right. No rain, temps in the 60-70's F during the day and 50-60 at night for those who feel they need to sleep. And Bubber's comments above couldn't say it any better. And for those who have come tho this thread for the first time... if you want to spend a weekend having the most fun one can have with their cloths on (well at least some keep their cloths on) check it out at www.porkinthepines.com See ya'all in two days.

Also drill out existing hinges that hold it open to 30 degrees angle and allow it to open with small chain to 95 to 100 Degrees Angle. Thanks to all for your information and ideas.
  16. Sometimes I wonder if a Goldwing would be a better option just because it has heated seat, grips, and vents that can blow some heat on you in cold temps. Having not ridden a venture in cold weather yet, do you stay warm on a venture in cold weather? Or do you need to add some heated features to the venture to stay warm on it? Is it possible to add heat to a venture? Will the electrical system on the venture easily handle heated seats or grips?
  17. Hello All, Summer has finally arrived in Ontario. Great riding weather now. I went for a ride with Relic and his wife Dianne yesterday to Meninite country and you couldn't have asked for better weather or friends. I'm off to Espanola in an hour on my bike and returning on Tuesday. Then the Europe trip on Friday without the bike, I'll be back packing with my wife and one of my sons for the first week and a bit, then finishing with a weeks cruise of the Mediterainian I'll miss out on the Meet and Farewell for Brad and Lonna on Aug 22nd along with countless other things that will be happening on the Venture site. I wish everyone an excellent end of the summer filled with activities and great weather. I look forward to getting back on the site in September and catching up with what everyone has been doing. Dave
  18. has anybody checked the weather lately ? the weather station just gave a long range forecast and it looks like Ana will be in this area next week end better not !!! what am i worried about those guys are never rite . Thom
  19. Its going to be raining here in Newnan very soon, and according to the weather channel, they have rain in the forecast for the entire week...........Maybe we will get lucky, but I sure am glad we are trailering the bikes up to Vogel, that would be one nasty ride in the rain if we had to ride. Thanks to Jamie for getting a trailer for this trip. Hope the bikes dont have to stay on it. Keep your fingers crossed and pray for sunshine................ If it rains anybody for some poker...............
  20. I am sitting here in the sandbox and the outlook for today is 140+ got to love the weather around here. I am just checking in as directed by the family will check in again soon yall have fun. Jeff
  21. Anybody have any good ideas on how to fix the gold chrome that's flaking off our old emblems? I tried some gold model paint but didn't like how it looked. I used Some Top Flite MonoKote Gold ChromeTrim, (http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXHX85&P=7), and it looks ok, but not as good as I would have liked. Not sure how well it will hold up to the weather, wind, and washing either.
  22. I have to start driving 50 miles to get to work. I can no longer bring the company truck home. What kind of riding gear is the best for rain and also in the cold weather? A lot of people talk about the frogg toggs but the way the size chart looks they won't work for me. I'm 6' 2 and 190 pounds. My jean size is 34 x36 and it's hard to find that without them being to big in the waist. For anyone with advice on the cold weather what is the coldest you have used them in? Do you guys us your regular boots or is there a certain boot that you bought for cold? I have never ridden in cold weather so I'm not familiar with any of this. thanks tim
  23. I asked Squidley if he could help me with a problem I was having with my bike. He said sure and the date was set…The next morning I got up at 5:30am check the weather and saw a huge storm passing through Southern Ontario. I watched the storm track on the radar image and figured if I left between 6:30am and 7:00am I would pass through the narrow part and only have to ride in bad weather for an hour or so. I packed up and hit the road 5½ hrs later I was in Squids garage working on the bike. I was able to spend the better part of the day with him and his family who open their house to an almost complete stranger. School lasted until 5:00pm when we broke for dinner and then prepared to head home. Another 5½ hrs later (because I had to get back home that night) The bike was fixed and I was home safe and sound. Thanks again Squidley:clap2::clap2: 11hr ride - $40 gas Road trip in 2 Countries - $6 tolls An afternoon with the Newby Family = Absolutely Priceless:cool10: Mark
  24. For those that don't know it yet. Marcarl and Wizard765 go for a ride most Tuesday evenings weather permitting. Anyone wishing to enjoy the evening with us is encouraged to come along. We meet up at Marcarl's about 6:30 and head out. Tonight was awsome! Perfect weather. Ice Cream. Great Roads.. this is the life. Wayne
  25. The hubby and I are heading to Glacier then up to Banff mid July. We are camping so space is limited on what we bring. I always wear my chaps anytime the weather is below 80 degrees F. If I can get by leaving them home, it would save a little room. Is the weather up there warm enough to get by without them? Thanks Deb
