  2. Ole

    It's here!!!

I finally received my new bike today. December 15th I purchased a new Silver 2008 RSV S on EBAY. It took the dealer three weeks to assemble the bike and have it ready for delivery. Another week went by before the trucking company picked the bike up for delivery. Sit in a warehouse in Chicago for another two weeks and finally it heads to Texas last weekend. Dark thirty this morning the trucker is ringing my doorbell with the bike at her new home. WOOHOO!! It was a long wait but well worth it. Took it for a short spin today before the cold front blew in. Can't wait to get her on the open road. Snapped a couple of quick pics of her. Ken
  3. just wanted to drop a quick line. i was able to come home for xmas but i was sick for the most of it, but i got to see family still.training here sucks it just seems more like 1st army just finding stuff for us to do till d-day its like waitting for a bed to open at the prison. i wish they would put us in a base in the desert and let us run mock missions like that ran real time 6 hours time frame. well gota go on to bed wish all of ya well and cant wait to ride with ya again soon:15_8_211[1]:
  4. Good news, it will be almost 50 in Northern IL later today! Bad news, it was only 17 on my ride in this morning! Worse news, I'm at work, doh! Well, I did volunteer.... I can't wait for my heated glove liners to arrive. Happy Thanks giving to all. file:///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/I273136/Desktop/8_5_31.giffile:///C:/DOCUME%7E1/I273136/LOCALS%7E1/Temp/moz-screenshot-1.jpg file:///C:/DOCUME%7E1/I273136/LOCALS%7E1/Temp/moz-screenshot.jpg
  5. Well, after a small(?) spill in front of my house that I rode away from...I got tired of looking at the dent inthe gas tank and the broken fairing so I put in an insurance claim and took the bike to the local dealer (Cal-Coast Motorsports) in Ventura, CA. Their estimate to repair the right side of the motorcycle was $7700. To be fair, they said that they would repair everything to showroom condition, and my motorcycle had EVERY chrome gadget/gizmo in the Star catalog. Many of these pieces had tiny scratches and were still VERY useable. Needless to say, the dollar amounts didn't add up, and GEICO totalled the motorcycle. I took the insurance proceeds and bought a 2009 model, red. The motorcycle, including a 4-year extended warranty (yes, through 2017), a 3 yr service contract (covers all recommended services, oil changes etc.), and 5 hrs of labor ($89 per hour) to put all of the sparkly trinkets on the new motorcycle for $21,000 OTD. i am thrilled and I can't wait to see how the 2009 fuel injected motor and CD player work out...oh wait....darn.
  6. The manual says to basically drain the reservoir, break the lines (make a big mess) and then pull the unit out. Does somebody have some "person info and maybe a few tricks"? My master "seems" fine but I've never had her open, the reservoir looks like junk (salt corrosion) and I just happened to come across a rebuild kit. It might have to be a winter project but I'm sure it's better to get the thing out and cleaned rather than wait until it "requires" it. The fluid has been flushed and still looks great but so did the clutch until I purged the line with air pressure and quite a bit of crystaline crud flew out. Thanks, Mike
  7. Yes, a successful delivery took place, although a couple of days ahead of schedule. Baby, mom & dad are all doing well. In fact, dad can't wait to take the baby on her first vacation ... Cheers,
  8. Went for cruise stopped in and visited Wizard765 and then across over to visit Marcarl . I totally enjoyed meeting them they are extremely nice people. The ride home however was chilly, once the sun vanished the thermometer fell big time. By the way Carl I did manage to wait untill I got home before eating all that jerky, but once I did I could not stop until it was gone. that is good stuff.:7_6_3[1]::7_6_3[1]:
  9. well i'm all packed, and the bus leaves at 5 am tuesday morning. can't wait should be at the edelweiss about noon. see you all there. bill
  10. Charlene is finally getting something done about her problems, knee, back, and hip. The dr. did another mri on her hip and her knee and after her last visit, she is now scheduled for orthoscopic surgery on her knee. She has a torn miniscus, damage to joint and needs to repair a tendon on her left knee. Recovery should be a little over 2 weeks if all goes well. Dont know if she will be able to ride in comfort after that or wait until she has her hip surgery, so keep her in your prayers for an easy go of it. It would be great to have her back on the bike again. The surgery is going to be on the 9/11/2008.
  11. I"ll be leaving on the 30th of this month for a 4,300 mile ride. I'm in Tuscaloosa Alabama. Me and a friend of mine are going to South Dakota to meet up with 2 more fellows. We are then riding out to Rushmore, Custer St park, Devils tower, then on over to Yellowstone for the Grand Canton, Paintspots, Old Faithful, Teton Pk and some more neat places. I can't wait to leave. We'll be gone for 8 days!! I'll let you know how it goes along with some pics when we get back. Guess I can add to my states visited map some then huh.
  12. hello all thank you for the support the sergery went well the doc said he did not think that she will need any more surgery she can move her toes and fingers so thats a good sign now it just wait and see how she recovers to know if all will be well thanks again for all the support kevin wisor 1999 rsv jax fl

See everyone there and hope to meet new rides also. ride safe. :clap2:
  14. Just got the V Star 1300 back with the new Avons on, and man what a difference, the bike felt like it was 200 lbs lighter, felt like the venture with Avons on it, just think about turning and it goes.......really good feel to it. Cant wait to get it out for a long ride..........

  17. i won't go into the details, about how i embarrassed the Dr.s, but finally, something is being done! today, we got a formula, for a "chemical cocktail" from M.D. Anderson. jeannie got her first "dose", through her i v tube this evening! she will get the same thing, for two more days, then wait three weeks, and do it all over again!i know in my heart, that the prayers that all of you guys offered, has caused this to turn into a "treatment", instead of a "go home and wait for hospice time, ". for that , i will be eternally grateful! just jt

  19. Well, I took off today and drove 575 miles and I am so very pleased with the Utopia backrest. I am not doing a commercial, but I have to tell you, it was worth the wait!! Just thought some of you might be interested. Keep it tween the ditches! Sky Pilot
  20. I promised myself the first ride of the year the weekend after paying Fed & State taxes. Kind of a got that behind me celebration ride. The battery has been charging on the 89 since this morning but now the rain has set in for maybe all weekend. So I guess the ride will have to wait. It's only been since October. We got busy in November with a new flooring job and missed several available riding weekends right into winter. I got a utility pole delivered to the camp last night but still waiting on a local guy with a tractor to dig the 5 ft hole and help set the pole. Were ready for electricity and camping season at the camp. I can't wait to get the scoots down there.:cool10: MamaMo swept out the camp and made room for a few venture riders that like to rough it. The new fire pit works great.
  21. I just won this today for $167.50 USD. Can't wait to get it on the bike.

  23. Hey Everyone, Hope you all will still let me be on this site even though it doesn't say Yamaha. Well last weekend wife and I was out looking and she found what she wanted, not for me. We went to the Michigan/Canadian Meet-N-Eat and had a Great Time (Thanks Sqid and Lonna). Then on Sunday I was all reved up and wanted to go out looking. Had to buy, but it does not say Yamaha, only Harley-Davidson. Wait a minute, I hope you all didn't think I was talking about getting rid of my RSV were you. If you were you should be ashamed of yourself. I just couldn't find a good pair of riding boots that said Yamaha on them. Later-
