  3. Just picked up a parts bike tonight . 1986 royal same Year & color as my trike .Bike runs great and has some cracks here and there ,paint is faded a little also but that is ok. All radio and compressor and Cb works great also. Picked it up here in Wisconsin but the bike came from GA. 79000 miles . Leaks a little oil by rear valve cover but that is all.Has new rear tire . Got it for $1500. Just had to wait to find one. I have been looking for 2 years but now I got one for spare parts
  4. This Thursday starts our 17 to 18 day cross country run on the RSTD (Tybee Island Lighthouse near Savannah, GA to Fishermans Wharf in San Francisco and back). Thanks so much to everyone who chimed in on my prep thread, I feel good about the state of the bike (and her riders). We have been talking about this trip for so long that it feels very strange that we launch this week. Eating better and working out I have lost 35 pounds prepping for the ride and my wife has lost almost 30, we have been riding in the heat and living without A/C because we know TX, AZ, NM have the potential to be brutal. (my daughter who is not going, cannot wait until we go out the door to crank down the temps). We have done back to back long days and worked on our navigation I picked up a SPOT messenger and will post a link once I set up the trip map in case anyone wants to follow along. We may see you along the road, we may see you at the DQ Either way we will wave and smile.
  5. My wife and i were riding to work this morning about 5:30. We were crusing about 50 mph through a curve when 4 deer suddenly jumped out of the ditch in front of us. I hit the brakes and managed to thread our way through the deer without hitting any. There was only about a bike length between the deer. I had to stop and wait until I quit shaking so we could continue the trip. The car behind us stopped and stated that he did not believe we made it through without hitting any deer.
  6. For those that missed MD thought you'd be interested in who got who this year. See the boss thought he was gonna get me, but he asked Big Tom to help him. So he kinda got himself. Nope no ice water or buckets involved just T-shirts. That's this year anyway. Wait for next year. Of course I'm not gonna be involved, I'm gonna be a good girl. Now to wait and see what actually happens. Margaret
  7. One day this very sensitive, animal loving guy was driving and then he hit a bunny. He got of his car and realized he had hit the Easter bunny, so he starts crying. A couple minutes later a blonde lady drives by and gets out of her car. She asks the man what happened and he told her "I KILLED the Easter bunny!!!" She walked to her car and brought back a can. She sprayed the bunny and a few seconds later the bunny got up, jumped 10 feet and turned back and waved then he did it again and again until he was out of sight. The man asked the woman what the can was. She said "You really wanna know" He said "Yes" Wait for it Wait for it Wait for it Wait for it Hair Spray."Revives Dead hare and gives it a permanent wave"
  8. Just to let people know that are thinking of upgrading to IE 9 a lot of web sites are not compatible with it yet so I would wait a little while until they catch up before upgrading. Tom
  9. Well after 2 years on the Venture I have decided to get a 2010 Nav. I go to Arkansas Friday the 4th. to pick it up. I bought it from Sunrise Honda in Searcy Ar. A 505 mile trip from here in the Houston area. We have been going to the hill country here in Texas each fall and I can hardly wait till this August. Anyway, my question is: what can I expect on the break in i.e. speed restriction. The one I test drove here really handled well. The only concern was the size of the shifter. But I guess I will get used to that.

  12. Have any of you had hip replacement and still ride your Venture? I'm wondering if the 800 lb. Bike with another 400 lbs on it is tough enough now. Should I wait until next winter to avoid screwing up this seasons riding? Craig's
  13. Well, I thought I'd like my 86 lst Edition louder so I installed a brand new set of Macs, heck they could be Jardines for all I know as they look exactly alike and boy did I have a hard time finding them. But after riding it for a few months and about 1000 miles, I couldn't wait to get the thing quieted down to stock noise levels again but I had to wait for a set of the double down turn extensions. Finally obtained those from another member here so I could reinstall the stock mufflers. She is back to being quiet. If I want noisy, I can always take my Ultra out for a spin and I really don't mind a loud sounding Harley; two cylinders of 750 cc each sure do sound differently that four cylinders of 325 each. Maybe someone here will want these Macs, don't know in this economy. I will be posting them in the Classifieds here real soon. Silence is golden.
  14. :thumbsup2:I want to thank Randy very much for using his carbtune on my RSTC. It made such a big difference already. So much smoother. Can't wait to see the long term benefits. Again thank you Randy for allowing me to disrupt your life for an hour.

  19. Does the Venture make my head big? Actually, this is still a project in the works. The guy that is doing this caricature is excellent...he is only part of the way done with this so far. Can't wait to see the finished product. Here's a couple of comparison pics...this guy is good...very good.
  20. Squid and Lonna arrived here a little while ago. I have heard some of the good BS, table dancing, the cupcake hat and more. I'm sure there is more but it will wait till tomorrow. Glad everyone had a good time. I'm going to miss a few gatherings but we will make Pork in the Pines this year! Be prepared.
  21. Rick, I expected alot when I sent you my seats because of all that I've read on here. I've got to say that you more than met the expectations. I sat on it and was really surprised at how good the fit was. I can't wait to try it out on the way up to Ohio. Job well done....... Any of you that are unsure of this mod....take my word for it, that was money well spent.
  22. Not sure if any of you Hannigan owners have seen or heard that Hannigan now has custom trike covers for the converted RSV. They run $118.00 with tax and shipping. I ordered one today and they happened to have one in stock, normally there is a 3 week wait on them as they are a custom item. for all there kits there only doing them for the RSV at this time. Harley and Honda have to wait ~S~.. I will post a picture if anybody is interested later after I receive the cover. Jeff
  23. Question for all you over the hill riders and campers. This question is for men and women. As you all know, as we get older, sometimes we have to get up in the night to visit the privy. Where do you go at in the middle of the night? Do you walk to the outhouse or carry a port-a- john or what? Boy--can't wait to hear the comments on this one. I'm asking for it I know so have fun,but would like some answere's also. Trying to talk the wife into camping again on the bike.
