  1. I go by Moose-man. I have had my '99 since early 2001 and love it! I need advice from any Venture "wrench type" about a specific problem that I can't seem to solve. For 3 weeks now my nearly new battery runs down when I'm ridin' to about 3-4 volts and the bike quits. The stator, regulator and battery connections are all good. No idea where to go from here.
  2. Auto parts store. I said give me 4 NGK plugs for an 84 Venture. He said the book calls for an NGK 7EA. I said no the number has an 8 in it. He said here it is NGK 7EA for a 84 Yamaha venture 1200 engine. I said check the VMAX it takes the same plug? OK VMAX shows same thing NGK 7EA. My old plugs are NGK DPR8EA's. I'm going to take them back but just curious anybody running these 7EA plugs? They look identical in size
  3. The wife wants arm rests. Does anyone know where I can find armrests for a 2003 Royal Star Venture?
  4. I can't remember which screw on the right side syncs those two together. Is it the left or right looking from the left side? Remember 97' RSTD not venture or newer RS they are different. Gene Weir:confused24:
  5. I am a new owner of a 1986 Venture Royale. What is the minimum fuel octane rating that I should use?
  6. Has anybody attached the Tour Deluxe Exhaust Tips to the Stock Venture exhaust?
  7. I need to replace the tires on my 83 Venture Royale any suggestions on make and models .
  8. I have a 05 RSTD and I purchased a Venture trunk off an 05 Venture. Is it possible, or has anyone mounted one to their RSTD? I'd appreciate any tips, advise, and just general help. Thanks
  9. I'm looking for a better seat for my 1st gen venture. The stock one is fine for a few hours But after that my wife and i both start getting alittle uncomfortable. Does anyone know of a good replacement??

Yo rider persons. Any of you got a tachometer? If so where did you get it and how much did it cost? Is there one made for the Venture? Do you find it helpful? Ta. Kiwi.
  11. Does anyone know where I can locate a pair of passenger arm rests for my 86 Venture Royale?
  12. I enjoy laughing with friends when I show them the hi-tech electronics on my 07 Venture, namely the cass player. A friend today said that they should just make it a ipod docking station. That really makes sense to me since yamaha would not need to remake the entire faring as they would with a CD player. I would send this idea to Yamaha but the R&D dept doesn't want to talk to the Venture owners because they don't even have a email address on the Yamaha site. We all know that they must think they have created the perfect bike because nothing changes over the years.
  13. Will the head set from a gold wing fit a 2006 Venture? I noticed a website someone referred to and it was all gold wing! I am a new venture owner Thanks Biker John
  14. One of the first things that I noticed, and others commented on also, after purchasing my '99 Royal Star Venture was the fact that there was simply not enough lighting on the rear. I did some investigating and found a number of LED light bars made specifically for motorcycles but the prices were crazy. Then as I was browsing through my local "Autozone" parts store one day, I happened upon a LED light bar with a price under $20.00. The LED bar contains 20 LEDs and is made by Pilot. The part number is WE6-197. It was the perfect length to mount under the truck of my new Venture so I bought it and went about figuring out the best way to mount it. I made a trip to my local "Home Depot" and browsed through the hardware and fastener section until I came up with an item that they called "handlebar clips". Basically they are just spring steel clips available in various sizes. I bought a couple of them, drilled a 1/8" hole in the base of them, took the LED bar across and secured the clips to it with small screws through the holes I drilled in the clips and matching holes drilled in the housing of the LED. I made the connections to the brake wiring behind the license plate. You must take care here that you connect the positive lead coming out of the LED bar to the positive (hot) lead of the brake light or running lights depending upon how you want to wire the LEDs. This is perhaps the cheapest modification you can make to the rear of your Venture and is worth every penny due to the increase visibility that it will give the rear of your bike. http://www.venturerider.org/pilotlight/831.jpg http://www.venturerider.org/pilotlight/light_bar1.jpg
  15. My black cherry 2006 Venture needed very little to make it complete. I did want cup holders, fore and aft, and a rider backrest, so I contacted Diamond R for both. The backrest went on without a hitch, as per directions. No drill and a perfect fit. The rest adds a lot of comfort to my ride. The cup holders also were made to fit my bike and look great. I have gotten a fair number of compliments on these holders, along with some, "Where'ja get them?" I am happy with Diamond R's products and service and do not hesitate to recommend them to all. The only thing that I would like to see on the Venture is a reverse gear, ala the "Wing". With the weight of the Venture, I really do have to be careful where I park, so that I do not have to back the heavy beast up any sort of grade to get out. Otherwise, I really do enjoy this bike. I have owned many bikes since 1959, to include seven Harleys. If I need to buy another bike, it will be a Venture.
  16. Broken CB antennas seem to be a problem but how the dealer is going to handle it seems to be a bigger problem. Tonight going to dinner, somewhere between home and where we ate my CB antenna decided to break at the black plastic. I have an 06 Venture 7000 miles with service plan. I have never hung or tied anything to it. To break like that we ALL agree it is a warranty issue but dealers don't seen to think so. Would love to read more input from my fellow Venture owners about this little talked about problem. I will be approaching my dealer Monday..... Rode all day in a T-Shirt, God knew what he was doing when he made Arizona. I posted in a CB tech thread and got no replies. Hope to hear some people sound off about this apparent problem.
  17. This is for the 1999 model Royal Star Venture but should be ok for 1999-2007 models. Parts Diagrams
  18. I saw these floorboards on Ebay buy can't identify them. Are they front or back? How would they attach? They don't look like any Venture floorboards I've seen before. Item number: 130031169132 Iowa Guy

    Need warm gear

With my trust levil down for my venture on cold wheather starting, I will be driving the Silverwing to work. BUT - unlike my warm Venture, that is one cold machine, especially with thin scrub pants on. I am thinking I need a pair of warm overalls or a pair of warm pants that will go over my thin uniform pants. I need something I can get into quickly and easily. Any suggestions? Tom E
  20. Good day, I own a Midnight Venture but find it very heavy I already dropped it 4 times and I'm thinking about trading it for a ST1300 which is still a touring bike and a lot lighter. My wife is a bit concern about her comfort on the ST1300 since she a already tasted the Venture and find it very comfortable. I would like to know if anybody know how comfortable is a ST1300 for the passenger compare to a Yamaha Royal Star Midnight Venture. Any feedback would very appreciated. Thanks.
  21. When I bought my new old 84 Venture the previous owner gave me a chrome bumper that he thought was on the bike at one time. I haven't seen any pictures yet on this site that really look like what I have. Does anybody have any idea if there were ever chrome bumpers that go around the saddlebags for an 84 VR? Or has anybody ever seen something like that? I'm not sure if it will fit or how exactly how to put it on the bike. Any input or pictures would be greatly appreciated.
  22. Here is the scoop, I just purchased a 1999 Exploder off of eBay on the far far side of Pennsilvania. Picking up the truck will be a 1200 mile round trip. My plan is to weld a hitch together and ride my wife's Nighthawk 750 out to PA, use this hitch to bring both vehicles back. (The explorer has a 2" hitch receiver) It's no big deal with the Nighthawk, as I can quickly remove the chain, and prevent any possibility for transmission damage. However, the venture would be a much, much more comfortable ride. Has anyone actually towed a venture with the rear wheel on the ground 600 miles? Obviously the trans would be in neutral, and as far as i can see, the gears are constantly submerged in oil. I only have 10 days to pick up the explorer, so I can't really use opinions. If someone has towed a venture like this, please let me know, otherwise I will be flying on the nighthawk. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y191/Ggerg1186/Hauler_003-587x350.jpg
  23. My new RSV rides like a dream. I do notice if I would loosen my grip on the bars, it seems to want to go left. As I have not had this bike for long (only 2000 miles) I was wondering, It this a tendancy of the Venture?
