  1. First of all, I absolutely do NOT think that there will be a new generation Venture for 2013. All the talk about it got me to wondering about something though. In the unlikely event that there IS a new Venture at some point and Yamaha is actually smart enough to build it around the new VMAX engine, what can we expect in regards to the engine/gear/clutch basket noise. Did Yamaha improve that with the new engine? OK...I addressed this to Squeeze because I know that he has the new generation VMAX but there may be some others that own or have ridden one also. So...I guess you can answer too.
  2. I got my 2002 midnight in March 2006 with 7250 miles on it after getting hit on 2000 Red Venture Oct.31,2005 with 86,000 totaling it.
  3. Met Jack and Kay Ruen from down around Lima area yesterday in Grand Rapids,Oh. Very nice couple and fairly new to the venture. They had not heard of Ventureriders.Org so the wife and I told them about us and invited them to look around and join. Hope to see them on the site.
  4. Here is the deal, had a customer come in , he is 5'3'' at best with a 28 inseam so he said , figure it was more like 26... anyway how much can a venture be lowered?
  5. Looking to talk to 86-93 Venture owner. [not someone selling one] I am thinking about buying one and would like to talk and look at one in my area. I am located in Stockbridge, Mich. Between Lansing and Ann Arbor. If you can help me , that would be appreciated. I am willing to travel to your place or will meet where you want. I currently own a BMW and two Guzzis. [can you ever have too many sickles?] Anyway, I think I want a touring bike and these bikes interest me. Please feel free to call [517] 851-7402 Mornings are best. Weekends I'm riding, but I'm always home for dinner. Or you can e-mail me here. Thanks, James
  6. Has anyone tried a 170/80-15 tire on the back of the 2 gen Venture?
  7. I'm wondering what kind of brake pads I should get... I mean EBC is great, but incredibly pricy for a whole darn set. Found this: [ame=http://www.amazon.com/1986-1993-Yamaha-Venture-Royale-Kevlar/dp/B007RGQHIO/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&qid=1343848229&sr=8-12&keywords=Venture+Royale+Brake+Pads]Amazon.com: 1986-1993 Yamaha XVZ 13 D Venture Royale Kevlar Carbon Front & Rear Brake Pads: Automotive@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51nJImUwFVL.@@AMEPARAM@@51nJImUwFVL[/ame] Don't know if they're good tho. Ebay also has that set too.
  8. Now verry proud of my 1986 1300 venture, smooth ride, i realy like it. But only need suspension, engine and wheels meening ; will make my naked venture this fall is that motorcycle to hold, or will it have some one interested on cosmetic parts???? ciaow
  9. I am new to these venture bikes. I used to be big into the xs bikes. Plain and simple. But these venture bikes caught my eye and decided to buy one. I keep hearing about CLASS and YICS. What is it exactly. I am trying to get the bike running tip top. So far I have taken it up the road and man does it ride way better then my xs did. Much more comfortable. I think it handles better too.
  10. just got the bike first of may and went down on may 27 still recovering and my wife also so thinking of putting a kit on my bike looking for some feed back on which kit is best for the venture thanks butch 882
  11. I had my annual heart check up today at the Columbia Heart Clinic, when the Mechanic came and said there was a 07 Blue and Black venture on a trailer in the parking lot with Florida tags. Don't know if it was someone here, but I can see why he was at the heart clinic if he is tailoring a venture. :rotf:
  12. finaly made it home from roosterville (Marion) NC. thanks to 1rooster for selling me the 84 venture my daughter and i left NC sunday late afternoon and with the hickups of trailer tires going flat along the way i finaly made it 500 mi to gulfport with the bike in one piece will post pics soon :cool10: i dont think the venture liked the trailer for as many tires i went thru on the trailer
  13. I just found a 1983 Venture for sale for $1900. Add says great shape and good running, has 51,000 miles. I'm thinking as a project bike if its a nice bike. What do you guys think? Whats a good price? How about finding parts?
  14. I was looking on e-bay the other night and ran across K&N's for a RSTD. The numbers were different than the RSV and like $30 bucks less. I thought basicly they were the same bike except the fairing-gas tank-speedo deal. Looking @ K&N site they show the YA 1399 for both the TD and Venture. Maybe they had the years mixed up or something? Does anyone else make a filter for the RSV thats worth running? Unipro anyone run them?
  15. :)I have a '82 Goldwing Interstate 1100 with a Voyager conversion Kit on it ..which I really enjoy..I also have a "89 Venture Royale 1300..thinking about switching the Voyager to the Yamaha...any pros or cons to this....just looking for input...Thanx
  16. I have just pick up a 1983 venture xvz12. I found out that it has a few problems. 1st is the elect fuse box is done , some of round fuse clamps are gone and someone has tried to repair it and wires are taped and spliced together. 2nd is there is the red warning light flashing . 3rd the computer monitor has the battery, brake fluid and head light indicator on. 4th I am getting about 60 miles to a tank of gas and i smell gas when I stop and today it made ao popping are a back fire sound down around the carbs going down the road. 5th The consoles are split are cracked. 6th the paint is faded and some of the fairing tabs are brokin off. I sure could use some help and guidance because I dont have any idea where to start to fix all this.
  17. I went to a Victory Demo Days event today. This is the first time I have had a chance for a good test ride on a Victory. I have to say I really liked the look of the Vision especially the Ness version I rode today. That gas tank and dash are humongous. It's like getting in a limo with an extended hood line. It looked so big when I got on the bike I almost just got off again. But I didn't. I stuck with it and took the extended demo ride. To my surprise the balance and handling were awesome. It was very easy to ride at low speed. Parking lot maneuvers and slow turns were a pleasure. Balancing the bike at walking speed was almost effortless. I also rode a Cross Country and another little sportier model. Again very good manners. Here is the thing. As well as these bikes handled the overall ride was no where close to as good as my Venture. There is a coarseness that permeates the Victory ride and boarders on roughness. It is felt throughout the bike much more so than the little vibration in the Venture handlebars. So after a couple of hours riding Victories I was very happy to return to my Venture for the trip home. All I can say is "no victory sale here". Mike
  18. This is the official Yamaha Parts list for the 1984 Venture XVZ12TD. http://www.venturerider.org/parts/XVZ12TD.pdf
  19. Hmmmm..Hate for my first question to be a "stupid" one, but they SAY there's no such thing as a stupid question..I guess you'll have to be the judge..! Anyway; I just purchased a 1986 Yamaha Venture, and got my new plate. Went to change it out, and used the proper tool for removing the retaining screws/bolts, but all they do is turn, i.e. they don't come out. So; my problem is figuring out how to get to the backside so I can hold the nut or whatever is there while I unscrew from the front. I've tried removing luggage, etc., for access, but just can't figure it out..Perhaps the tail light has to be removed? Thanks for any assistance here!
  20. I've owned a Gold Wing and am currently riding a HD Ultra Classic Limited. Wife hates the ride of the harley. Spoiled by the Gold Wing I guess. Considering a Royal Star Venture. Any feedback on how this bike rates compared to the Ultra or the gold wing would be appreciated (engine performance, handling, suspension). Also what do your passengers think of the seat comfort.
  21. Am a fairly new member here, and have greatly enjoyed my time. I had a 1987 venture royale that I bought a few months ago. Squidly wonderfully took time to help me put progressives in my forks, as well as adjust the breaks, clutch, and do a fluid change on both. It made the bike much more fun to ride. However, after riding it to and from work a few times, I had to admit to myself that the bike was not enjoyable to ride in Houston area traffic. I never could get comfortable riding it at rush hour speeds. I also realized that I just didn't have time to work on it like I wanted to, and that the bike was ending up being a garage queen. To make a long story short, I met a guy who wanted to trade his 2001 Honda Shadow ACE 750 for the venture. He was wanting a bigger bike for the road and has the time and space to work on it. So, I traded title for title. I am happy that I got a bike that will suite me well without going int debt. I pointed him to this site and hope he shows up. Also, I am not leaving this site. I will be hanging around. I am available to help any and all who need it (as much as I can), and would still love to ride with y'all any chance I can. I appreciate the family here and hope I can be as much of a help as everyone has been to me. My contact info will remain current should anyone need anything. JP
  22. Had to pick up an 18 wheeler in welland last night, and on the way decided to stop and p/u a drink at Cassablanca. As I parked I spied a second gen venture complete with rider. I decided to introduce myself and we had a chat (No not as long as one of Carls) but we spoke just the same. I asked him if he was a member or even heard of us. Turns out he did but could not seem to find our site. So I gave him our website and then a little bit about us (not too much I did not want to scare him off). We had a few chuckles (seems like the sort that would fit right in). I let him know how we look out for each other. For eg: how us 1st Genners carry tow ropes to make sure the 2nd Genners can keep up during group rides. (He kind of laughed at that one, I think he thought I was joking.) Any way I get the feeling we will soon have another member.
  23. looking to purchase 1st gen venture near east tn. ty
  24. I have used a GL1500 sound system and J&M. in both instances the systems had plenty of volume to provide adequate sound in the helmet even with ear plugs. I use my helmet and headset I used with the GOldWing. with the Venture I often can barely hear. I'm wondering if this is typical for the Venture or maybe I have some other problem. I tried a small amp between the ipod and Venture but got too much distortion. suggestions anyone?
  25. I live in Georgia (gainesville area) and my brother who I have not seen in almost two years lives in Michigan. I got a text from him on the 4th saying to make surer I was off on Thursday and Friday because he would see me later that night. WOW! What a great surprise. Come to find out, he and his wife were on the bike and made the 780 mile trip down in one day. After mapping out some trips, and after some much needed rest, we set out for one heck of a great ride. We rode the blue ridge parkway, all around the foothills in Helen, GA and Blairsville Etc and made it all the way up to the Virginia line. The scenery was wonderful and since I have lived here for almost 11 years now, this was the first time I had ever riden with my brother. What an awesome time. Took many, many pics which I wll upload soon and I hope to be ridiong mine up to michigan in fall. Although, I don't think I'll plan to do it in one day. I of course was riding my '86 venture and he was on his '04 venture. We turned some heads and got penty of compliments when we stopped. just thought I'd share our good time. Maybe some of you guys are close here in Georgia and week and plan a meet and eat. Take care, Jay
