  1. Well, I got my Timberwolf mudflaps on yesterday, and love how it turned out. You holding up your extra on the back of my RSTD out at Dons MD, really did the trick. Took my time, and used SS hardware. Not sure if I'm gonna put chrome trim pcs on yet---maybe I also added a pair of bullet turn signal lenses. Thanks, Steve
  2. I was thinking about installing a Venture Dash Accent trim kit. I was wondering if anyone had one installed and what you thought of it? I know Yamaha makes 2 (Wood and Aluminum) and found another vendor who will create the exact same kit in any one of about 20 finishes. Was curious the good / bad expierences? Any photos would be greatly appreciate of what you have installed. Thanks in advance.. Stuart
  3. I don,t like the antennas on my bike. First of all, I'll never use de CB. I prefer listening music. Could you tell me if I can replace those antennas and install a new one directly on the fairing? Like a shark blade as we see on the top of many cars like Honda Accord 2009, Mazda 6 and many other car. By the way, How coud I fix the chrome trim on my fearing, It still goes off a little bit all the time Thanks for your reply P.S. I'm riding on a midnight venture 2007
  4. First, apologies upfront if this has already been discussed. I've typed in a few variables in the search part and couldn't find anything close so here goes....... Most of my buddies ride Harleys. What I've always admired about their bikes is that they have low cut (4" or taller) tinted windshields which are easily removable in order to change back to a larger shield for long distance riding. (Ahhhh, to have that wind-in-the-face feeling again!) So this got me to thinking about my own Venture and how I'd love to be able to switch back and forth from my huge shield to a tiny one for local rides and real hot summer days. The big problem with our bikes is removing the chrome trim on the fairing because of the design of the damn thing (those little plastic tabs! Aaaargh!). I get nervous as hell trying to remove it just to get inside to do some wiring on occasion, never mind having to remove it on a more regular basis to switch a windshield. So I began thinking up ways to come up with a 'quick' release system for the fairing. My first thought was to find some real shiny chrome screws and drill into the trim and fasten it to the fairing so that way I'd only have maybe 5 screws to remove (2 in the back, 3 upfront) in a fairly reasonable time with an electric screwdriver, then remove the screws for the windshield and make the switch. Voila! Done! But having a discussion one evening with Draegerman, we came up with a better idea. The chrome trim already utilizes 2 screws to make certain it stays put so instead of drilling holes in the trim, why not use magnets? Apparently there are some pretty heavy duty magnets available on the market nowadays that would do the job very well. Mounting them in the right place would surely hold the chrome trim in a perfect position. This way, all you have to do is remove the 2 screws and then pull out the chrome trim and not worry about those plastic tabs anymore! Now you have fast access to the windshield mounting screws and they can be removed just as quickly and switched with another shield. Sure it may take 5, maybe 10 minutes, but to have a shorter screen up front would sure be nice at times. Anybody want to add to this? Anybody come up with any other way to remove a windshield quick? I'd love to hear other ideas if anyone has one before I go and give this particular idea a try. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Bluez
  5. Tonight I broke one of the forward mounting bolts on my saddlebag trim rails...don't ask how!? It's the one that mounts into the crash bar by the passenger footrest. It's approx 2" long with a chromed hex head on it. Not sure the threading. I found they come included with the rails when ordering but can't find anything that tells me what that screw itself would be. Anyone know where I could get a part # and/or order a replacement? I'll try looking locally, but the small town hardware store more than likely won't have these so I'll end up paying more for shipping than for the bolt...but hey, gotta have one in the hole that's for sure! That is if I can find one! Thanks for the help...JR
  6. is there any other company besides DiamondR that sells saddlebag rail trim lights?
  7. I have 2 questions. The first is about the rear side reflectors that mount on the crash bar. I have installed the saddle bag trim rails which are of a smaller diameter then the crash bar. I have seen that many of you have the reflectors installed on the saddlebag trim rails so what was used to make up the difference so the reflectors stay in place? Also I have gotten the LED conversion reflector replacements. has anyone wired these up to run as running lights and then blink when the turn signal is on? If so any help would be appriciated.
  8. I was looking at the saddlebag trim rails on Yamaha's accessories page for an 08 RSV and they look different than most pics I have seen on this forum. I was looking at Freebirds thread on getting the rails to line up with the bottom of the bag and his looks different than the ones in the pic at Yamaha. Is there an aftermarket place to buy them from or did Yamaha change them?
  9. now that i have started swapping stuff from the old bike to the new one i am in need of a few things that hopefully someone will have lying around. i am in need of... shift rod clear lower wind deflectors factory front turn signal mount front fender chrome trim chrome headlight trim ring luggage rack and a wide windshield if anyone can help out with any of these please shoot me an email or give me a call. my # is in vr assistance thanks very much. this new bike is turning into quite a project but hopefully it will be worth it. mike and t
  10. I have looked and do not see how the chrome trim is removed from exhaust to check for leaks. Any ideas? I am sure i have just overlooked something
  11. Elizabeth just got a new to her 2002 Kawasaki 1500 Classic (6547 miles). It had a nice looking light bar on it but no windshield. So we ordered a windshield, it came in today and I was trying to put it on. Turns out the lightbar is made by Jardine and it is in the way of mounting the windshield mounts. In looking at it, if I could trim off about a quarter inch from each side where it partially wraps around the forks, I could get the windshield on. I have never tried to cut a chromed piece though and am interested in any feedback one of you much more experienced folks would have. The first pic is the bike, second is the odometer (6500 miles on a nearly seven year old bike is criminal), third shows the mounting screw and area I would need to trim, the fourth is a view from the side with one of the windshield mounts.
  12. I know this is a long shot, but does anyone have an extra trim piece that fits over the lights on the rear of the trunk (1990) that they are willing to sell? The piece that wraps around the back of the lower trunk. It was on the bike when I picked it up, but if fell off somewhere in the Arizona desert. The trunk must have been damaged at one point because there doesn’t look like it was attached to much of anything. Thanks Al
  13. Blacked out the fender tips, rear floorboards, rear crashbars, bag hinges, whindshield trim, trunk lock trim, and a few more pieces because I thought it had too much chrome. OK so then I wanted to put this pic as my sig but it is too large. So take a look and then tell me how to reduce it or just reduce it for me if you are a moderater and have the power.
  14. Hello everyone, I removed the plastic chrome trim right below the windshield. The rubber trim pieces on the top and bottom of the trim were barely attached. What should I use to glue the rubber back to the trim piece? I was thinking clear silicone? Any suggestions? Thanks, Eric
  15. Finally got around to installing the parts I bent up when I dropped my 05.... Total of the damage wasn't bad, thanks to Ponch who 'donated' the trim ring for the headlight. I replaced the headlight and passing light visors, checked the front fairing really well and it diesn't seem damaged.....engine guard was saved by the highway pegs, so I really made out ok. I'm going to add the slightly bent visors to Eck's list...they're usable, and might need some straightening. Also going to make the headlight trim available if anyone needs one really badly. Its usable, just has a crack in it. Now if I only had time to ride the stupid thing!!!
  16. I cannot remember where I saw a link or add for a guy who made leather bra covers for the hard boxs' on 2nd gens. They were a real nice fit and you could trim it out with a chrome strip as well. Could anyone direct me to the source?? Thanks in advance for the help. Ricardo.
  17. Greetings. Just finished a kind of a neat "Fender Trim Rail" modification on my Royal Star and wanted to share it with you. I had bought a "Mascot", the "Chrome Fender Tip" as well as the "Fender Trim Rail" even though the dealer told me that the "Rail and the Tip" would not look good together - the fender would look overdressed and the Trim Rail would hide/shade the fender tip so there was no logic in putting both on the bike. Me being a stubborn eskimo demanded all items and said that I would at least have an option of what to put on. To cut a long story short I saw when trying these on that the dealer was right - with both items the front fender looked overdressed and the Chrome Fender Tip was barely visible since the trim Rail hid it almost completely. But have a look at the pictures. I think I came up with quite a nice looking solution for putting all items on with a little modification to the trim Rail. How to do this is easy or as follows: Cut off the lower tubing of the Trim Rail. Have a workshop with a lathe make an insert that goes into the tubing but has the same diameter as the outside of the tubing at the end. Have them drill through the center and make threads. On the end of the Fender Trim Rail (the end that attaches to the fork/fender) drill a 4 mm hole so you can run wires through the tubing. Buy some LED lights at www.fortech-online.com/ (they have all kinds of neat vintage looking lights) and luckily the bottom radius of the lights chrome housing is exactly the same as the outside radius of the Trim Rail tubing. Open up the headlight and connect your wires to the blue wires inside the housing (there are two blue wires connected to one blue wire - the only ones with that color in the housing). Connecting this way makes the lights stay on constantly when bike is running regardless of high or low beam. They can of cause also be connected to the blink wire of the turn signal but that way they will only come on when you put the turn signal on. I am sure there are many other options in connecting these but I am not very clever when it comes to electricity so I leave other suggestions to those who have knowledge. The pictures show before and after to show the difference of these two different setups. Enjoy !
  18. Went to a sister dealership of my dealer today and got a Major Score on chrome and accessories for the scoot . MSRP for the Tinted Lower Wind Vents are $193.95 and for the Saddle Bag Lid Trim Rails $177.95 . I got the the Vents for $100.00 NIB (he has been holding for me for a while) and the SB Trim Rails for $20.00 (opened package , but still new) for Tim . The dealership is clearing out all old inventory in stock on Star Chrome and some other stock in store only . I cleaned out the last of the RSV chrome and accessories , but they have other Star line accessories left . My favorite salesman there is going to round up a list of items remaining with closeout pricing as time allows him and send to me and I will post . As I was there , I saw a $200.00+ leather bag go out the door for $53.00 . That salesman has my e-mail and will send me a list as I have stated above . BEER30
  19. I've read several posts about the saddle bag trim rails (for the RSV) not fitting "properly" (as in not well aligned with the bags/exhausts; touching rear turn signals, etc.). And I read the excellent tech post about re-aligning them by making a new mounting hole, etc. However, I was wondering if anyone has purchased any lately, and if so, do they fit any better? The reason I ask is that I've found them to be on "backorder" at several dealers lately, and I'm hoping (yeah right) this may indicate a new batch is on the way. Smokee
  20. Has anyone seen these on any bike before. I left a Email for him to get a price. http://www.saddlebagarmor.com/index.html
  21. Went riding today. It was great: sunny and 80. Anyhow, cleaning the bikes after dinner, I lost a screw and nut on the front, front fender trim. I had tightened it once before, but did not think much else of it. Guess I will be pulling the other nuts and adding a little bit of tread lock. Glad I did not lose the trim piece.
