  1. I am leaving on Thursday with a group of friends to ride down to Nogales AZ to pick up US 89 and ride it back North. We will be gone 10 days and end this segment in Springville UT then pick up the North segment in Sept. This is my 1st real ride on the trike and the 1st since the wreck last June.Needless to say I am a little nervous but I am so excited I can hardly wait,I wish we were leaving tomorrow.
  2. hi folks when i bought my '99 rsv motor trike in nov. 2010 it had bf goodrich p235/60 r15's on it. i can't remember what the front tire was. but i put my old avon cobra 150/80r-16 on. squid thought since the trike had radials on the rear might as well put a radial on the front. it's now coming time to put new shoes on the trike. i have found that cooper makes a p235/60 r16 radial. and firestone makes a firehawk indy 500 p235/60 r16. i kinda like the look of the cooper cobra's. i guess i realy comes down to what i want to install. but i just thought i would ask ya'll are using on your trikes. thanks best reguards don c.
  3. Anybody , look at these pics and tell me if this is normal the oil build up under the diff please. Seems to me I use to see this on my old 59 Chevy LOL But is it normal after 3 years on the Trike? The second pic is running my finger nail on it to show how much. 4. Well, I finally did it. Ordered a Roadsmith kit today for my Goldwing! Arthritis and old age are catching up to me I guess and I found myself worrying about my hip when stopping the bike. (Afraid that, especially when I'm two up, the hip will give way and I'll not be able to hold the bike). Anyway, after looking and soul searching I finally decided to spring for three wheels. The Roadsmith's got a lot of features that I really like and is the only trike kit I've found that somebody's not complaining about:)...Anyway, it ships the week of April 9, so middle of next month I'll be "up" on 3!
  5. Well old age and artheritis are taking their toll and I've got a hip that it giving me fits. In order to keep riding with the wife on back I'm looking at putting a trike kit on my Wing. (I'm getting to the point I'm not sure the leg is going to hold when I touch down at a stop on a full boat tourer with the wife on board, and I sure don't want to drop the darn thing). No problem solo on a light bike, but two up.... Anyway I'm looking pretty closely at the Roadsmith and the Hannigan. At this time I'm leaning toward a Roadsmith, but I'm headed to Hannigan's later this week to check them out up close. I'm looking for the most reliable and trouble free rig, and I like the automotive based components on the Roadsmith. Any thoughts, ideas, experiences? I'd appreciate your suggestions and ideas. Thanks!
  6. Trike Conversion available - Hannigan A friend in the mid SC area who is a top notch bike mechanic asked me to post. If you are looking to trike your bike (Hannigan), he is setting up shop. I'm not looking, maybe later, but he told me that he will offer a generous labor discount for first customer. If interested, contact me and I'll hook you up with him. (no cut for me) Mike Griswold mikeginsc@bellsouth.net or call 803--420--3388. Mike G in SC

  8. Just got a 'phone call from bike transport to say they have one space on the truck, and I will have the trike at my door on the 19th December !!
  9. Phil's trike is being delivered tonight. In fact it's in town already, just waiting for him to get off work and pick it up. It's been a long time coming to get to tonight - he started this process back in August. I bet he'll be out learning how to drive his trike tomorrow instead of watching parades and football.
  10. Well new to me anyway. I just bought a 1990 Goldwing Trike. I can't believe that after 25 years on Ventures I will be riding something else esp a Goldwing. All is not lost I do still have my 87 VR for 2 wheeling.I pick up the trike on Monday and will bring it down to Spring City and then try and learn how to ride it on the rural roads down here.I hope this old dog is up to learning a few new tricks.I'll post pictures when I get it home. The wing is nice,it is the SE model and has the reverse, and the deluxe sound system and cb radio. It is pearl white with polished aluminum wheels on the back and the PO just put a new timing belt and new rear tires on it.Of course it has cruise control and is already wired for heated clothing, tho the PO's jacket won't fit me.The trike kit is by TriKing out of Florida. They make a very nice kit that is longer then the standard kits and rides lower so the driveline has a level shot to the rear end and an automatic leveling system like many high end cars do.Because of the way it is set up the front end has 2.5 degrees more rake then normal so it steers easier or so the trike people say.Lots of new things to be finding out and a big learning curve both in riding skills and maintenence info.
  11. Thought you guys might get a kick out of this.

  13. Loraine I decided it was time for a old man ride and bought the trike! http://i54.tinypic.com/2u8f72t.jpg
  14. Would this qualify as a "First Gen Trike"? :rotf::rotf:
  15. A guy that I worked with sent me some pictures of one of his friend's Goldwing trike and a truck tire. This guy was on his trike and his wife was on her trike in front of him. A wheel/tire came off an 18 wheeler and came across the median and nailed him. He did get some injuries of road rash, a mild concussion and some chest pains, but he is doing OK. This guy was really lucky and for sure lucky his wife was on her own bike. RandyA
  16. Trike is 8 weeks old and noticing problems with paint. I sent pictures to hannigan so it'll be interesting to see how they handle. When the Trike was originally scheduled there was a 10 day delay due to paint problems.
  17. Well, my health issues are not getting any better, and I think it may be time for me to consider a trike or sidecar option for my venture royale. Anybody have any input on either? Anybody know of any used kits for sale? I really didn't want to spend more on a trike kit than the bike is worth. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.
  18. My trike [07 Venture with a hannigan kit] at around 110 miles or one,two bars on the gas gauge starts to count down.Is this normal? How far can you go [on the countdown] before you have to switch to reserve?
  19. New trike camper. Would you call this a "Winna-bike-o"? :rotf::rotf::rotf:
  20. Well, so much for getting the 08 triked.... Ordered it in January, paid deposit and shipped side case(colormatch) to Hannigan in February, took bike to dealer in Florida 3 March, kitwas SUPPOSED to ship from Kentucky 8 March, called dealer to check on progress yesterday (3/16), and he told me the factory in KY had burned down along with my kit and sidecase. Could be months before the factory is up and running and can punch out another RSV kit. To add to the misfortune, I had stripped some of the addons from the rear of the bike that wouldn't be used on the trike and I had to trailer it to the dealer because it had recently picked up a screw in the rear tire. Sooo, 'To Trike or Not to Trike, That is the Question'. Okay, not quite Shakespeare.. Either way, The situation inhales with a vacum like force..
  21. We had a potential costly situation with a trike dealer turn into a positive experience for us. For a couple of years Phil has been dreaming and planning to trike out his bike before he retires. The back in the beginning of August he pulled the trigger and put down a 50% deposit with the Oklahoma Hannigan Trike Dealer. He's been smiling non stop for the last 3 weeks. Earlier this week I was online paying some bills and noticed that the dealer had not cashed our check yet and that bothered me. The day next we got a letter in the mail with two sentences on it. "I cannot do your trike conversion." "I am returning your check." At least the dealer returned our check, but we still don't know what happened, we can only speculate. We are very lucky that our check was returned and that he had not deposited it and then told us try to get it back. We could have lost that money. (Of course I would have made his life uncomfortable if he had. I would have turned our daughter the lawyer loose on him.) Here's where the story turns positive. Phil called Hanningan Factory the next day. He made up his mind that he was going to trailer his bike to Kentucky and get the factory to install the trike kit. Phil talked with John from Hannigan, and John was fantastic. He was upset about the OKC situation and uphappy because the dealer has not talked with them. But he also told Phil that he was going to put us in touch with another dealer who would treat us right. He even made the phone call to the new dealer to contact us. In an hour we had a call from Gary with Lone Star Trikes and he and Phil were busy working out a work order for the trike. By the middle of the afternoon we had an invoice emailed to us and confirmation that the trike kit had been ordered at Hannigan with a mid October delivery date for the kit. Lone Star Trikes is even going to stop by the house and pick up the bike. I cannot say enough good things about Hannigan and Lone Star Trikes they worked with us to make Phil's dream of a trike turn the positive experience we wanted it to be. (Plus they saved me money I did not have to buy the trailer to take the bike to KY and that always makes me happy) My hats off to Hannigan and Lone Star Trikes they ROCK!:thumbsup2:
  22. I wanted to express my sincere thanks to B2dad, B2mom, and Rick & Shirley Haywood. On the way to Vogel I had trouble with the trike [apparently its an issue with how it was built] and we ended up all sitting on the highway split, in the heat for quite some time. I have road side assist with Harley -- but it only applies in Oz! Rick rang his tow company, and they sent a truck to pick up my trike and get it in to H-D Chattanooga. These good VR folk stayed with us till they knew we would get back on the road And they are good people at Harley too, worked hard to get me back on the road. Thanks again
  23. Hi all just wanted to find out how much weight did the bike pick up with the trike kit on 150, 250 lbs more ?
  24. I am thinking of coverting my 05 Venture and looking for pros and cons.
