  1. We took our 07 out last Sunday and I had a very tough time with the wife on back, at stoplights, parking lots, etc... Over the years, I have heard more than a few guys tell me that they used to ride, but had to give it up because of their hips &/or legs. I don't want to be one of those guys! A couple of years ago, my wife and I took a trike for a test drive. We only rode 3 or 4 miles or so and didn't like it. I couldn't get used to the steering. When I got back to the dealer, he said that I should've taken it fo 1/2 hour or so to get used to it. But we didn't want to take it back out. - Now I wish we had. So, now here I am AFRAID to take my 07 out. I CAN'T give up riding! My wife is obsessed with it! AND, I refuse to ride Bit$h! So, I am back to considering a Trike or maybe even a sidecar. Our thoughts on a sidecar are that when THIS bike wears out, we can simply transfer it to a new bike. Also, we can carry a Grandchild with us or luggage or ??? But a Trike, we lose the Saddle Bags, (but we own a Bushtec trailer). But the biggest hurdle for me about a Trike is the price AND the price every time you get a new one!! I am only 50years old, hopefully I have a long life ahead of me. So, my questions for you folks are, 1. Any pros & cons that I haven't thought of? 2. I heard that sidecars are tougher on a bike. Is there any truth to that? 3. I heard that sidecars are tougher to steer than a trike. True? Which QUALITY sidecar would Look best with an 07? Craigr
  2. Ordered the R1 calipers for my trike on Saturday, came home yesterday and they were waiting for me on the porch. I thought I was getting the ones with the blue insert (steel pistons), but surprise I got the ones with the gold insert, (alum. pistons). I immediately pulled out the tools and pulled the left caliper off the trike and the R1 slipped right into place. Now I am waiting on the new pads to arrive. The pads on them were still fair, but I decided to go new, dont want to have to work on it twice. Next upgrade will be the SS lines I looked up the price for new ones at BikeBandit and was in shock, the were over $500.00 each, and I got both of them for less than $100.00 shipping included........
  3. I'm looking at a Nelson-Rigg Trike Cover #TRK-350 on E-bay. Will this cover properly fit the RS Venture with the Hannigan trike kit? Are any of you using this cover? Or is there a better suggestion? Thank You! Owen.
  4. Was searching Netflix this evening for a movie. Came across a four episode TV series on a trip down Route 66 from Chicago to LA. Billy Connolly drives a VW trike. Watched episode one tonight, and it was excellent. Looking forward to the other episodes.
  5. 1996 harley reverse trike that was a shriners. http://www.cyclecrunch.com/1996--Trike-325837 Its gorgeous ain't it? LOL
  6. I think this has been asked before but I don't find it. Is there a car tire that can be used on the front wheel of the 2nd gen Venture? If so would that be a good choice? It seems to me that it would be okay for a trike to use a CT on the front.
  7. New to me 09 to replace the 05 RSV/Tri-wing trike I totaled out a while back. By spring time it will be converted into a trike by Hannigan. First pic is loaded up for the trip home. Rest are taken today at home. Let the modding begin. Larry
  8. Today I took the time to bleed and flush the clutch and the front brakes, all went well till I tried to bleed the left front caliper on the 93 trike. Pumped up the brake and broke open the bleeder, nothing came out.........so I loosened the brake line at the caliper and fluid came out. The brakes were delinked when it was triked, but evidently they didnt replace the proportioning valve for the front brakes so both would work off of the brake lever. I am in need of one so I can get more braking power to the front, 1 caliper dont work too good on a heavy trike. I guess I will have to check with Skydoc to see if he has one available.
  9. Just got back from visiting Larry and Joyce, and Ragtop69 as well. Larry looks good considering and it was great to see him stand up! I was expecting on seeing him still in bed but he is up and around, using a walker for anything more than a step or 2 but that's just for protection and security for trips to the bathroom, etc. It's hard to keep a good man down! Of course his ribs and shoulder still hurt but the redness from his scrapes and bruises is getting better. Sure was good to see the old coot and spend some time with him!! Right now the biggest issue for him is the boredom! I know EXACTLY how he feels having been thru it myself where you are injured or recovering from something and you feel OK enough to get out of bed and move around, but you aren't healthy enough to do things around the house, etc. You know he wants to get out in the garage and putter around but can't yet! So needless to say he was really glad to see us as so were we to see him! Kudos to Jay and Jeanie (Ragtop69) for keeping him company and being there for him when he really needed them! He is already looking for a new trike to ride!! I did not see the trike but saw pictures of it. It is definately totaled, and was just confirmed by the dealer this afternoon. Now is just the long wait for the insurance adjustment, and for him to be healthy enough to make whatever he decides on into his very own ride! We are looking forward to riding with him once again! GET WELL SOON LARRY!!!!!
  10. I finally got a trike "AGAIN" This is my 3rd Honda trike but my first 1800. It has everything a bike could possibly have EXCEPT a CB. So, probably won't do a whole lot of good but does anybody know of a complete CB w/antenna and all of the wiring that might be available ? I've looked on ebay and the prices are what I would expect but looking for something slightly less than 1K Not only the purchase - I haven't a clue about how/where to install it. I see that the bike already has controls on the handle bar so I'm guessing that the unit will be hidden somewhere under the massive amount of plastic.
  11. Currently riding a 2006 GL1800HPA (audio, comfort & nav). The bike is dark red and has quite a few options. I am strongly considering a trike and the missus like our 2002 RSV better than the current Wing so I am looking for a Hannigan conversion of an RSV. I would be happy to work a trade for someone looking to go to two wheels for a trike. If you know where a trike is or have an idea of where I could buy one, drop me a PM. I am NOT interested in a NEW conversion due to the Hannigan pricetag. I just missed a good deal listed on this site in the classifieds. Drop me a PM. Thanks - wiredgeorge PS: Some of you may know me as I was a Venturer way back before this site came into existance. I was Venturer 147 and the chaplain for about 2 years. I owned Millennium Edition #13.
  12. Carbon1..Larry...went down today. we were riding a fall color ride with some other members and some hunt-club guys. a 16 y/o boy, on a learners permit, crashed into him. the boy said he didnt see him. he was with his mom. Larry was taken to the hospital. he was concious as he left the scene. trike looks totaled, he must have flipped at least 4-5 times. lets keep him in our prayers.
  13. Hate to do this but just posted my Venture trike for sale in the classifieds.Health reasons and for some reason there has been a rash of Cagers running over us riders. The one last was a close friend"s brother.A man driving a car driffed into the other lane and hit the Goldwing. Needless to say his left boot and leg was still on the bike.He lived just a few hours after the wreck and another one last week was one a man had sold his bike. Was going to take one last ride and someone ran stop sign,he was DOA at the sight.I would for some one in the club to get this bike it is in excellent condition.
  14. Charlene had her first ride on our trike, she thoroughly enjoyed it, said she was comfortable on it, and felt more at ease knowing I wouldnt have to support the bike with both of us on it. I think she will be riding a lot more with me now that there are three wheels under us. We did about a 20 mile loop around town, some country roads and just had a nice slow ride. This weekend I will be bleeding and flushing the clutch, noticed a couple of difficult down shifts and had some difficult finding neutral a couple of times. I opened the resevior for the clutch and the fluid was murky brown...........gotta take care of that. All and all she is very happy about the trike and that makes me extremely happy:dancefool:!
  15. I just got my trike, never rode one for any extended distance, I find the ride a little harsh, so I have a couple of questions. First a little info about my trike, It is a 93 Venture Royale, with a Motor Trike kit installed by the factory in 99. One of the previous owners added air bags that are hooked up to the class system. It also has progressive air shocks. How much air should I run in them and what air pressures do you reccomend in the tires. Mine are radials, and right now they have 20 lbs. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  16. :fingers-crossed-emoI want to take the voyager trike kit off of my 83 Goldwing 1100 and put it on my 88 Venture Royale 1300..the adapter kit would cost betweem $800.00-$1000.00...I think I could make one if I had a template...can anyone help me find a template or a used adapter kit ...thanks
  17. My grandsons got to see my new toy today and they are all over it...........I may have a problem in a few yhears............like who goes and who stays................
  18. Well, Squidly and Lonna stopped yesterday with an empty bike trailer behind their suv so we loaded Dragonrider's '93' Trike on it. They left around 3:30 and was headed South. I suspeck that sometime this afternoon we should all hear a loud whooping and hollaring coming out of the Atlanta Ga. area - That'll be Lewis screaming as he tries to get all of the ratchet ties off his trike so he can ride it.
  19. I've been looking for a Trike all summer and I finally found one. a 2007 GoldWing with a Champion Trike kit. The bike had 3 miles on it when it was triked in '07' and it's all the way up to 3000 miles now. Looks like an oil change and ride Pick it up tomorrow from a private owner WooooHooo !!
  20. Warden gave me permission this morning to go get the Trike in Hendersonville for 20k. Screw it!! I think I'll pile all this junk up and let her have her yard sale!
  21. Hi all. Just felt i should toss this out there. A new rider in our club got a voyager kit, rode barely 1000 miles, got her license, and departed for an all day ride with about 200 other bikes. She is having an 8 hour surgery this Thursday to repair broken wrists, fingers, right arm, replace right shoulder. She has about 40 stitches in her face from the shield on her ff helmet. Numerous other cuts, bruises, etc. Tell all your trike riding friends, yes, you too can crash. Don't let your guard down just because you have three wheels. Yall ride safe, and say a prayer for my friend Debbie and her hubby Jerry.
  22. I just got our "new" 2003 GW with 2007 Motor Trike Conversion home. What a fantastic 2700 mile ride! Love our RSV, but the GW trike is just that step above. Now the problem; when I use the turn signals both of them flash on the dash board like the emergency flashers are on. The front turn signals are fine the correct side flashes, but the entire back is messed up. Everything flashes, the volume of light put out by the rear lights is almost un-seeable and when apply the breaks the turn indicators on the dash light up. I've jacked up the bike and looked under it to see if I could see anything obvious (I know never that easy). The bike wasn't ridden much for about a year before I got it. I first thought of dirty contacts letting voltage through both sides of the switch, but now with the break lighting them up I'm at a loss. Any suggestions?
  23. Like to see if someone in the area could take a look at this trike and check it out for me. Its located in Green, Ohio. Its about 70 miles from Don, but I know he is very busy guy. Hope someone else could check it out for me. Its a 93 Venture trike. Owner doesnt know what kit is on it or if the front end is raked. He said it would be okay for someone to come by and check it out. http://akroncanton.craigslist.org/mcy/3216256238.html
