1. Took a 924 mile round trip yesterday, picked up an ALMOST NEW (only 3533 miles on an '08) RSV to make mine again. Wanna say howdy and thanks to Jim and his wife and their dog Rowdy, it was great meeting them. Got back at 5 AM this morning! Better to sleep in your own bed! Trailer was almost too short, we had to take the trunk off! But that's why I ALWAYS take my tool bag with me!!
2. I was just wondering if this is a harbor freight trailer??http://venturerider.org/forum/picture.php?albumid=1039&pictureid=6534
3. I just bought a HF tag a long trailer and would like to know what things I should do to it to make it better befor I assemble it. I know alot of people use them so what should I do. I was told there at HF that they are not going to carry them any more.
4. Hi all, I am currently looking an extended trip to eastern North America this summer and need either a pull behind or camper trailer. Still don't know which way to go but I found a cargo trailer on Ebay that looks good and I was hoping someone could give me some feedback on these trailers. It is a Liberty GL Motorcycle Trailer from America's best trailers. The link is below. Does anyone have this trailer or have had dealings with the company? Thanks, Tom http://www.ebay.com/itm/Fiberglass-Motorcycle-Trailers-Tow-Pull-Cargo-Behind-Harley-Goldwing-Bike-Etc-/170832291220?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item27c665e594&vxp=mtr
5. Got a pm from jayceesfolly today, ticket sales for the International trailer raffle is falling far short of our expectations.....With only 400 tickets to sell ,he has not even sold 1/4 of them...We need to cover the cost of this trailer..please see the above sticky section and get your tickets now...also get those registration forms in if you plan on attending the rally this year...they are also found in the sticky section..........:fnd_(16):Only 4 months until the rally...YA HOO ! See you there..
6. As requested by playboy here are some pictures of the finished set-up. I used the wiring harness the M1A1MECH makes and it made this very easy. I had alot of help from playboy as well with all this he was a great help. The trailer is an AMT (America's Best Trailer) the Excape model the 4' one. I'm using the swivel ball that they sent with the trailer and I used the Hopkins 46225 converter that was recommended by playboy and mounted it under the seat behind the battery. I ran the wiring harness along the frame rail by the rear fender and it seems to be working fine. I may have to check the axles for alignment, hopefully someone can chime in and let me know how to do it. Anywho its a great trailer for the money and I want to say THANKS again for everyones help in making this happen. Now I have to do some riding before the end of June due to a shoulder injury that will keep me off the RSV for 6 months after surgery, by then it will be "Snowing" Big Toms favorite word so my riding season will be cut short this year I think unless they let me put it off longer. My maiden voyage was going for groceries for the "BOSS Lady" and a lot of people were looking at my scoot/trailer combo and I was the boy with the most toys in the sandbox for a few hours. Picture #4 is the swivel ball, #5 is the wire harness.
7. I just ran across this listing for a TRAILER BALL #160706290092 on Ebay. Instead of installing a swivel hitch on the trailer tongue, this one's a tilting ball and good, for not one, but any trailer you wish to pull. I used one on the '99RSV to tow the trailer to Cody and back in July. It performed great, and would have forgoten the trailer was there except it kept showing up in the rear view.... It's also about half to a third the cost of a swivel coupler.... which is a good thing. I know a lot of guys will say they don't need no swivel, and that's well and good, but what's it going to hurt to have one just in case you drop the bike?? There's about a day left on the auction and the seller has 5 of them left. http://i.ebayimg.com/t/Motorcycle-Trailer-Swivel-Hitch-Ball-GL1800-Goldwing-/00/$(KGrHqEOKkEE25TvNvQkBN5RzrwjcQ~~_12.JPG
8. I'd like to covert my Rover trailer into a one man sleeper, for my July road trip. with these pictures, can this be done to the trailer? Please call me, I'll drop the trailer off. 954-309-3983
9. Thanx to the help of several venturerider members and the delphi motorcycle trailer forum, I am in the final stages of my single wheel trailer build. The trailer consists of a plastic Delta Truck Toolbox bolted onto a Milwaukee hand truck with 250# rated torsion axle and 8" wheel. It weighs approximately 90# (empty) and is 100 inches in total length (hitch to end of fender). I expect when fully loaded with my expected cargo, it will weigh somewhere in the neighborhood of 160-180#. The total trailer height is approx. 34 inches and the width is 20 inches, so it tucks neatly behind the bike. I have given it several test rides and it pulls effortlessly and tracks as advertised with the bike. Recently I read the following post on delphi forum: "With all the folks that seem to be building or thinking about building 1 wheel trailers, something came to mind that I thought I would mention for those to give some thought to. If you are going to tow a 1 wheel please make sure your hitch is up to the task. A 1 wheel will inpart forces on the hitch that a 2 wheel does not. Please make sure your hitch choice can handle the twist forces that a 1 wheel applys to the hitch. Most hitches I have seen are made to pull a 2 wheel and may not work safely with a 1 wheel the way they come. Now some may be fine and others may need to be modified a bit to make them safe." I have a Venturedad hitch on my 2000 RSV and after each test ride it appeared to remain straight and secure upon visual inspection. My question to those who have experience pulling single wheels or those with other inside info., is this hitch up to task of pulling a single wheel trailer or what modification may be needed to make it so. My limited knowledge says I am OK, however, I would like the opinions of others with more experience and knowledge on the subject. Thanx, Jerry
10. I have heard about setting up a relay, I am in the process of making a deal on a bushtec trailer in Las Vegas, I am of course in Illinois was wondering if This could actually work to do a trailer relay. or if someone is headed this direction and would bring it with them!!! it does have the bushtec Hiam hitch so that would be a consideration for whomever would consider doing this.
11. I have a supplier close to me that has three cyclemate trailers that appear to be new. He says he is getting out of the business and has them listed at about 400.00 off list. IF anyone is interested, let me know and I will go take pictures etc. I am not sure when they stopped being made or if they have stopped. I can not find anything but 09 info on most websites. If anyone has some more info on the trailer please post it here. I was looking for a trailer but I think he still wants too much for them. Especially if they are several years old. He has a white and a black cm2000 and then one of the more trimlined units. Not sure of that number. OK here are two pics I took of one of them.
12. I wouldn't have any luck at all... With only 40 miles left to go, while hawling an excavator back to my Dad's, I managed to blow the torque converter seal. Luckily I made it to a wayside. Now it's hurry up and wait for a truck to come and hook up to the trailer I had to drop. Then it's back here again with the same truck and trailer to pick up my broken truck to get it back to the garage. Then I am going to have to make time to pull out this POS E4OD tranny and swap in something better. Which also means I am going to have to track down a new computer to bypass electronics for this transmission. D'OH!
13. I have (access to) a 4x8 tilt bed trailer, It's a bolt together thing and doesn't weigh much. Though I'm currently not in the landscaping business anymore I'm considering dabbling and would need something to carry hand tools, trimmer, blower, maybe even a push mower, etc. With the truck that's no problem, but fuel being what it is and having a full time job I'm wondering if an eight foot long trailer plus tongue would be too long for a bike? I'd have to build a box on it at least 16 inch (preferably 24)high and 24 to 30 inch wide. Depending on how I organize things I could shorten the bed by about a foot. I'm guessing the tongue, measured from the axle, is about 7 feet, so a 4.5 ft wide trailer would still give me the 1.5:1 tongue vs. axle ratio. I know there's folks out there (take that any way you'd like) who pull a coffin for a trailer which theoretically means this should be doable, but I'd still like y'all s opinion.
14. Well, I guess I am done with doing all thr things I wanted to do to the bike so now it is time to start with the trailer. I have already rewired and replaced all the lights. Repacked the bearing so now it is time to slap a paint job on the thing to match my 2000 MM. Let's hope it turns out.
15. We came home from vacation and there is a Harbor Freight on the way home. We stopped to get a trailer to make a tag along. The store we stopped at did not have any sale trailers left. I spoke to the manager who went back to check on another store. We started telling him what we are doing with it and he said he received one tag a long trailer last thursday. http://www.harborfreight.com/600-lb-capacity-78-inch-tag-along-trailer-66771.html after checking on the price I just decided to grab one, I had a 20% off coupon and out the door with tax was 357.00. Last time I checked they were not in the catalog. The manager said it showed 62 in the system as warehouse or other stores.
16. Hey y'all. I'm going to have to trailer a bike to PA. I'll drop the tow vehicle and the open uhaul trailer at my daughter's and ride the bike back to SC. I do have my own enclosed 6X12 that I've used to take the bike camping occasionally. We remove the bike and camp in the trailer. Anyway, I can't use it becasue I can't leave it in PA. So, I was wondering if anyone knows if I can trailer either my Millenium or my Royale in a 5X9 trailer with the ramp. I think the overall length of my MM is 104", but don't know if it would fit in the trailer due to the tall ramp sticking up and possible hitting the trunk. I think the Royale may be a bit shorter and an easier fit for the 9' trailer, but haven't measured that bike and am not home right now to do that. Uhaul does have an open 6X12 trailer and even an open motorcycle specific trailer with ramp and chock, but neither are available in my area. I've thought about maybe loading the bike diagonally, but still think that tall ramp would possibly be a problem for the bike's trunk. I need to leave here Monday, so don't have a lot of time to consider options. O.K., please chime in with any ideas. Thanks. Rusty
17. Weather has been really great around here for the past week. So, figured it was time to put the Quenn back on the trailer. Hit the starter, two grunts and she started purring like a kitten. Gotta love that Sea Foam.
18. Trailer Raffle Has Concluded. No more ticket sales. Winner will be drawn soon. Thank you all very much for your support. As most of you know, Dano hit a dear on his RSV about 3 months ago and spent a good a long while in the hospital. He is home now and doing outpatient rehab but it is going to be at least a few more months before he is able to think about working again. Dano is self employed so no work means no money. Those of you who have been fortunate enough to meet him and Rose know that they are just great people. Dano is one that is always there when anybody needs his help but now he could use our help. Jeff and Margaret kindly donated the trailer that they bought and loaned Aussie Annie and Quickstep to use during their travels in the USA last summer. We are going to raffle this trailer off with all proceeds going to Dano. If you have no interest in the trailer and but with to donate to the fundraiser anyway, that would be great also. The trailer is a 1994 Cycle Mate. It had new tires installed last summer and the wheel bearings were all repacked at the same time. Now please be aware that this trailer is presently being stored at a members house in Washington State. Getting it home will basically be the winners responsibility but I know that as a group,, we can do a trailer relay and help get it to the winner. Rather than all the funds going through me or somebody else, I think the easiest way to do this will be to have you send your donations directly to Dano. The tickets will be $10.00 each or 3 for $25.00. If you use PayPal, PLEASE do NOT mention anything about a raffles as PayPal does NOT allow their services to be used for raffles. When you sent him the money, click on the "personal" tab and mark it as a "gift". That way there will be no PayPal fees held out of the donations. Now this will be an extra step and a bit of an inconvenience for you but if you are actually sending a donation and want to be included in the raffle, you need to send me a private message and let me know that you have sent Dano the donation and how much it was so that I will know how many tickets to be added to the raffle in your name. I will not be sending out ticket stubs or anything like that. At the conclusion of the raffles, I will use a random number generator to choose the winner. So let the fun begin. I hope that many of you will help out. If you can't send $10.00 for a raffle ticket, then $1.00, $5.00...whatever size donation will still be appreciated. It all adds up. Here is the info for Dano. You can use this email address to send funds via PayPal. Just got to paypal.com, login, click send money, enter Dano's email address, click on the tab that says personal, mark it as a gift and send. If you don't use PayPal, you can send a check, money order, whatever to this address. Dano's PayPal email address is: danob11@comcast.net His home address is: Dan Obert 8699 W 800 N Indianapolis, Indiana 46259-9402
19. Please check the following list and verify that your name is here if you purchased tickets for the Dano Fundraiser trailer raffle. The numbers beside each name represent your ticket numbers. Please verify that I have you down for the correct number of tickets. If your name is not listed or the number of tickets is not correct, please send me a PM immediately. I plan to draw the winning number tomorrow morning around 10:00 AM Good luck to all of you. A special and truly heart felt thanks to Muffinman and Mini Muffin for the generous donation of the trailer. Thanks to all of you who reached out to help a member in need. Please not that there were some who donated but did not wish to be in on the raffle so this list is not representative of all who helped. NOTE: Now the the contest has ended and the winner picked, I have removed the names and ticket numbers. I don't know why anybody would care what their numbers were but I kept a copy just in case. If you want to know, just send me a PM and I'll tell you.
20. The superbrightleds.com light that I ordered to mount between the helmet locks turned out to be too long and a little too wide, so not to let it go to waste, I found a spot on the rear of my trailer This one is, I think different from the Signal Dynamics one in that it not only is a tail light/brake light, it is also turn signal capable. Sooooooo....
21. I stumbled across this Tumleweed Houses website a while ago and really like these tiny houses that have everything a regualar house has except space. BUT, they also make a model to be towed like a trailer for people that like to travel with everything including the kitchen sink. http://www.tumbleweedhouses.com/blog/tiny-houses-in-seattle Brian
22. My new Escape Trailer from America's Best Trailers took about an hour to put together after if got here now I need that Carbon 1 hitch. Plus it came with a cover, spare tire and wheel and another cooler rack that has a cover as well.
23. I have been searching for over an hour trying to find an exploded view of a trailer hitch to fit my 85 with light bar, could someone help me out? I have been up all night working on the beast, putting her back together in anticipitation of warm weather, and if I had an exploded view with a part list I have a good friend who could weld it up for me. Also where would be a good place to order a clutch kit and fork seals to complete my mechanical problems? If I can get her reliable and safe I will worry about looks and my broken fairing next winter if possible. Thats the problem of riding on a budget, a lot to do in order to have it as right as possible. I'm just thankful that I have tools and a little knowhow to keep my costs down. If not, I will have to part with her. I do appreciate any help as always. I talked to someone this AM about these things but he was unable to help. May God bless all and keep us safe is my prayer!!! Jeff Boyter
24. I,m going to get a rear light bar from diamond assy and need to know where to wire it up since I pull a trailer with my bike behind the plate is already taken.. So any idleas
