  1. Yesterday when we got up it was about 10 below zero here. It is warmer today...actually zero right now and is supposed to climb to a balmy 12 degrees F today. Actually staying fairly warm on the sleds but took the time yesterday to drive into Hayward and picked up a couple of facemasks. Also picked up a couple of very nice RibEyes. It's a tough life here but somebody has to do it.
  2. Not even four months of 2012 and so far not the best year. Too many things on the go. Some things are suppose to be happy but with all the issues the happy things are not that good. Building a new home is suppose to be fun but so far it is more stressful than enjoyable. Rhonda's birthday came and went, well I screwed that one up completly, no excuses just screwed up and no way to do it over. Working on it but not the same thing and I hope she can forgive me. Our Dog Ben passed away on her birthday to top that one off. Rhonda's mother was miss dignosed with an Aneurysm (glad it was miss diagnosed). Rhonda also started a new job hoping they are understandable, as My mother has not been doing well and recently has been diagnosed with stage 4 advanced pancreatic cancer. She has been battling a few other issues and lost alot of weight preventing treatment. Received a call earlier and it may have spread to the brain. Waiting on Cat scan results. Been tough on my Father and the next few weeks is going to be real tough for him. Sure would be nice to get some news that is not negative. Brad
  3. Some shots from the race. It was tough shooting under the lights. http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c66/CNONT/TMS1.jpg http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c66/CNONT/TMS5.jpg http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c66/CNONT/TMS8.jpg http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c66/CNONT/TMS4.jpg http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c66/CNONT/TMS2.jpg http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c66/CNONT/TMS7.jpg http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c66/CNONT/TMS3.jpg
  4. This is our little Rosalee Athena. Her mom had the same amount of hair when she was born. She was 8lbs 6 oz 20". It was tough leaving but I'll get my hands on her again. Margaret
  5. But I finally got the tree up:dancefool: http://venturerider.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=62828&d=1324769293 MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE
  6. nov. 20th my membership runs out. i have to wait till end of the month to take in my cans for cash. so i can afford the $12. times are tough but when i get them turned in i will rejoin i aint going away. your all stuck with me.
  7. Went for a ride today, and started noticing the handlebars sticking a little. I believe my head bearings needed to be repacked or replaced. Is the a tough job?
  8. Have any of you had hip replacement and still ride your Venture? I'm wondering if the 800 lb. Bike with another 400 lbs on it is tough enough now. Should I wait until next winter to avoid screwing up this seasons riding? Craig's
  9. To all of you, Haylie and I want to say Merry Christmas and thank you! So many of you sent me notes and helped us out I just couldn’t answer everyone and thank everyone. You all brought a smile to my face along with tears and I will never forget! My brother does a lot of traveling and he used some of his frequent flyer miles to book Haylie and I a trip home to my family in Ohio for Christmas. Tho we are getting excited about it, its bitter sweet in a way : ( Even tho my future is kind of “unknown” at this time, I am doing whatever I have to for us as best I can. It is starting to slowly get a little easier settling into being alone but all the emotional trash is still raw. I am having to make some tough decisions as I go along because of some bad choices someone else is making. My heart truly aches for him because he is blinded to how it will all end up coming back to hurt him some day. Please keep him in your prayers. I am truly trying to forgive and treat him as best I can, but believe me some days I lose my temper. Legalities are started and we will see where that goes after the 1st of the year : ( Thanks to you all Christmas will be better than I anticipated for Haylie, I didn’t want it to be any worse for her than it had to be. The way I see it, the past cpl years have been pretty tough for us and they can only get better now. I owe a lot to God and my faith, He has never failed me thru it all I hope all of you have a wonderful Christmas full of love and family and blessings! You all have a special place in my heart!
  10. It was a tough year, but I made it! http://mail.cybersharks.net/Main/frmReadMail_Attachment.aspx?folder=inbox&uid=31889&partid=4&filename=image001.jpg&user=gene&mapped=True But not everyone is as lucky as I am . . . . The economy is so bad that I got a pre-declined credit card in the mail. I ordered a burger at McDonald's, and the kid behind the counter asked, "Can you afford fries with that?" CEO's are now playing miniature golf. If the bank returns your check marked "Insufficient Funds," you have to call them and ask if they mean you or them. Hot Wheels and Matchbox stocks are trading higher than GM. McDonald's is selling the 1/4 'ouncer'. Parents in Beverly Hills and Malibu are firing their nannies and learning their children's names. A truckload of Americans was caught sneaking into Mexico. Dick Cheney took his stockbroker hunting. Motel Six won't leave the light on anymore. The Mafia is laying off judges. BP Oil laid off 25 Congressmen. Congress says they are looking into the Bernard Madoff scandal. Oh Great! The guy who made $50 Billion disappear is being investigated by the people who made $ 1.5 Trillion disappear! And, finally . . . I was so depressed last night thinking about the economy, wars, jobs, my savings, Social Security, retirement funds, and our bleak future, that I called the Suicide Life line and was connected to a call center in Pakistan. When I told them I was suicidal, they got all excited, and asked if I could drive a truck.
  11. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ryl6d2ucjE0]YouTube- Yamaha Royal star Venture (Custom)[/ame] Some guys winter project I came across, totally different RSV. He said it was tough getting parts, I can see why!
  12. Finally got some warm enough weather to ride up the canyon last week. Between the cold and rain it's been tough to get a long ride in. Here's a pic at 8735 ft
  13. Anybody know the approximate 0-60 time for a stock RSV? I just want to know when I'm sitting at the line and need to get in front of somebody, what cars might be tough to beat.
  14. Thanks to all the ny members who turned out for our ride today....what a great time..great to see the central ny guys have it together....it was a real shock to see little D from the valkrie riders riding so soon after the terrible accident she had out west....man , she is one tough cookie..today was her first ride and she borrowed big D's 1700 VTX to go riding with us....man she is tough...did about 275 miles round trip with breakbast and of course ice cream...man, I was getting nervous when we kept passing all those ice cream stands....but, ppand j came thru... thanks Phil ..I was going thru withdrawals at that point and was getting weak in the knees...but it all worked out...here are some pics....
  15. Times must be gettin tough. The local small town bank got robbed this afternoon. Don't have all the specifics, other than they caught the guys. They made it about 60 miles away. As far as I know nobody got hurt. They never think that a small town bank will be tough, but they never realize that the locals know everybody in town, and can spot something out of place right away. Police got a great description and didnt take long to get them.
  16. This has been a tough week, I had to put "Granny " Down Tuesday night.... it was really tough to do, but she was old and had layed down and couldn`t get back up on her feet, so it was the only choice I had, and it was the right choice. Oh BTW... Granny was my 31yr old Quarter Horse.. She would meet me at the gate every morning and every day after work.. I still catch myself looking there for her, and this may take some time to get over.. any way, It helps to share.. Thanks, K
  17. Found a nice set of floorboards and shifter for a 99 Royal star....how tough would it be to adapt them to my 88 Venture? I'm pretty good at adapting and fabricating things like that, but with the shifter and brake assemblies, it seems like it'd be a tough job. Anyone out there with enough knowledge of both bikes to offer an opinion? Thanks:banana:
  18. Well, we're 1 week into being non-smokers. The Champix is working to a degree; however, I do get the occasional craving for a smoke. Seems it comes not long before it's time to take my next pill... go figgure eh? LOL. The wife isn't taking anything and she's a "wee tad" more edgy than I am (edgy is a polite way of saying b*tchy lol). Had a party on Sat for my son's b/day... got slightly "overserved" on such things as rum, beer, tequila shooters, wine.... hmmmmm seems I recall having a few puffs that evening... shame on me! Last week was tough but yesterday and today are seeming much easier. The desire & determination to quit has not faded, that's for sure. Thanks to everyone who offered support and those of you in the same process as me... KEEP AT IT... don't give up!
  19. Edna Jewell Wright passed from this life into her eternal home Sat. at 3:40 pm. I know some folks have "inlaw" problems and I am reminded again just how blessed I am. I took Edna's baby girl for my wife 37 yrs. ago and I gained 2 wonderful ladies. Patsy and Edna! What a blessing she was to me. She would tell everyone she knew how she had not lost a daughter --just gained a son. It has been a tough few months watching as the Alzheimer's took its toll on her mind and body. Patsy and her sis Jessie have really had a tough time--but it is all over now for mama. She is at rest. We will mourn, but know in our hearts that God needed her now. Who knows she might be making him some of them ol' "cat head" biscuits. Thank you mama for loving me REST IN PEACE!
