  1. Anyone ever use this supplier or have any comments they'd like to share about them? I currently have a clear Showchrome shield, but I'm thinking about getting a gray tinted replacement, and this is one of the options I'm checking out. Thanks. http://www.ceebaileys.com/yamaha/royalstarventurews.html
  2. We're seriously thinking about buying a 2005 Royal Star Venture. The bike has approx. 32,000 kms on it - one owner. Being fairly new to the bike scene.... are there any particular points that we should keep in mind when checking out the RSV more closely and coming to a decision? Thanks!
  3. Where's a good place to purchase a valve shim kit for a 2nd gen? Prices? extra shims? Thinking about doing mine in the next few months.
  4. I was thinking of buying a Clymer Manual, but after thinking about it do I really need one? What I mean is, can a Clymer manual do any more or have more info then what I can find here? So far I've never not been able to get a tech question answered! And sometimes there's even a little humor involved? So what do you think do I need a Clymer Manual?
  5. I found this close by where I live..... just thinking ...... what do you guys think? http://www.usedvictoria.com/classified-ad/Motorcycle-For-Sale-2001-Yamaha-1300cc-Royal-Star-4990_13866622
  6. I'm shopping for a cycle I can buy outright and I am considering a 2nd Generation RSV that has a bit over 100,000 miles. It got me to thinking - what is the most miles you have seen on a 2nd Generation RSV?
  7. Hi everyone, my parents 50th wedding anniversary is in April and me my brother and sisters are at a loss as to what to get them. They have 4 kids 3 married 1 divorced (I had to be different) 7 grandkids 1 married and 1 great granddaughter who cries everytime she sees me.....must be the beard and long hair.....yeah thats it. I was thinking of something with all of our names and maybe birthstones or something along those lines. We are a very tight family and see each other almost weekly which is why I was thinking of something not only celebrating 50 years of putting up with each other but also celebrating the family that started with them. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. By the way they do not wear jewelry. Thanks Mark
  8. My Dell PC is now 11 years old and after an upgrade this past summer its finally starting to fail.....a slow death! Every 10 minutes it keeps re-booting all on its own. My daughter happened to call last week about the time this all started and asked if I wanted her 1 year old iMac.....Her husband bought her a newer one. Does a bear poop in the woods!! Long story short, they came by Tue night and swapped it out for me. Man, its great. I just have to adjust my way of thinking now a bit while I get used to this. Took all of 20 seconds for this to fire up where the old PC took at least 2 minutes. Cant believe just how fast this is. Tomorrow I go and buy a wireless router and an apple tv adapter and no more mail in dvd discs from Blockbuster!! Not too sure just how many new tricks this old dog can learn but ill give it a try.....
  9. Has anyone used the vacume storage bags with the hand held pump for traveling? I'm planning for a June trip and thinking I might try one of this.
  10. what I'm thinking right now.........
  11. I lost my BOSE 901's in a house fire in 1980. I still miss those speakers never replaced them or my albums. Watched a Pink Floyd concert video brought back memories of 30 years ago. Those were the days Crosby,Stills,Nash, Neil Young,Bob Dylan,John Prine, Moody Blues, etc.Just thinking nothing else to do %#@ winter.
  12. I purchase a 83 last fall with 42k and have the front end off to mod the forks and brakes. A guy I work with is a Concours fan and I pointed him towards another one now he needs room in his garage and guess what! he has a 83 with 138k that he wants to sell me cheap. Apparently it has the 2nd gear upgrade done and the front fork done. I haven't seen it but i was thinking parts bike but i don't know he rode it a few hundred miles last year maybe I keep it and ride it till it breaks. What to do? any suggestions? Thanks
  13. I've got to admit, I'm not a huge fan of TV shows today. Not a lot on that interests me. Honestly.....I gave up on cable long ago and only bought a converter when they dropped the broadcasting. (Under threats from my daughter) I turned the idiot box on the other night and flipped through the channels. Nope.....nuttin worth watching. So.....I got to thinking I can not be the only one that wants to beat the box to death and make some extra room for something useful. Like inhouse parking for my bike. So rather than wreck havoc with a sledge hammer I decided to try to change the programming of what we see. Thought I toss it into the bull pen and see what other folks might want. Dancing with the stars ........ not good. I read an article a while back that a man took a shotgun to his TV during that show. I'm sorry, but I understood that feeling. But then again he pointed the shotgun at his wife also. Again...over the top but hey, I can understand that also. She probably was holding the remote. Now they have spun that off into "Ice Skating with the Stars". Ok. Not working for me either. One of my ideas that I want to summit is this. Let's add a twist to "Ice Skating with the Stars" ok. Pair the professionals ice dancers up the professional hockey players. See where I'm going with this? Make it interesting....add some excitement....throw in a lil danger! I'm thinking this would be a popular show. So anyone have an idea for a new show? (I haven't ridden in two weeks, so forgive me) Mike
  14. I have been thinking of going this year, any information would be helpful. Either tent camping or motel, wondering which would be best. Though of bring my camping gear but staying at a motel during the show. Thought maybe the rowdy's might make camping less fun. I would likely camp one night on the way up from Virginia and then after the show go on over into New England camping for a few days, Thoughts and comments appreciated
  15. Although I've been riding for many years, I haven't done many "long" trips on the bike and the ones I did do was with my dad and brother...we just stopped at rest stops and slept on the ground for the night. Now that I've got a real touring bike, the wife and I are wanting to do more trips...Since I'm new to this site and to this kind of traveling I had an idea but not sure if it's been tried, being done currently, or just stupid... How many would be interested (or maybe you are currently doing it) with opening your house to traveling bikers? I'm thinking of the money we could save on a 5 day trip if we had a "host family" we stayed with at each of our stops...Would also be able to meet new people and make new friends. What I was thinking was you just post your route along with days of travel, then anyone within about a 30-50 mile of each stop could volunteer their home...We could even have a list of "host families" with locations so people could plan their trips with those stops in mind... What do you guys think? Would something like this work?
  16. True story: The weather here has been better than some places, but still too cold in the mornings to ride the hour + to work for me. The forecast for this morning was for 31 degrees with a high of 62. No kidding, I actually woke up at 3:00 AM thinking "I can do 31 degrees" then went back to sleep. At 6:00 when I got up I said "what was I thinking!" So cage to work again. Time passes, take a break at 2:30 and walk outside. 64 degrees, no wind, not a cloud in the sky. Go back inside and make some lame excuse to the boss, and out the door to home I go to get the bike. I can probably get in a good three hours road time. Kewel. All the way driving home I'm thinking "Which way this time?" West, naw nothing but city that way. South? nope, go that way a lot. East? possibly, go that way a lot too. North? been a while, roads not bad, north it is!!! Get a half mile from the house and the COUNTY HAS GOT THE ROAD CLOSED UNTIL AROUND 5:30PM. Only other way is on a BAD gravel road with a few sand pits thrown in for good measure. I don't usually use bad language, but sometimes you have to express your feelings or explode. Come on summer.
  17. I'm thinking about this: http://www.saddlemen.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=169_236&products_id=4505 for my navigator. Any thoughts on this or other gel pads around $100?
  18. Looking at the weather I topped off the tank added winterizer went for a ride pulled in shut the fuel off then let her run until she died. Now the question is should this be done I just did what I do to the snow thrower but thinking a little now I wonder if it is good to let the carbs dry out? I hate this time of year store the bike, boat and camper and try and get all the things off the honey-do list before spring.
  19. The Rear Brake Lever has two white washers. Mine shows several bad looking cracks, as if the piecies would fall apart if I took it apart. I looked them up and it looks like the 2 parts I need are the following: It can be found under Stand Footrest. 1) Part 68 - COLLAR 90387-06701-00 2) Part 70 - WASHER,PLATE 90201-100A1-00 I took the part 69 Nut Crown 90176-10073-00 off thinking part 70 would come off easily, but it did not. My question is, has others replaced theirs, or is it something to not bother with. The brake pedel does works fine.
  20. I found this site and after searching some roads in different states, I thought it may be of help to many thinking of going for a ride in their own state or neighboring state.. Hope you find it helpful... http://www.bestroadsbyhonda.com/

  23. Thinking about riding down for the day Saturday. http://www.natchezballoonrace.com Anybody interested???
  24. I was at our local Timmie's this afternoon getting a coffee(I'm on midnites) and was chatting with a couple of guys, one with a Yammie Raider, the other a Harley something or other, when a Triumph T3 came rolling in. I was sitting on the curb..so I had a real good look at this monster. Folks say our Ventures are a big bike...but sitting there looking at that monster, visualizing a full fairing, lowers and rear trunk set me to thinking that this T3 is freakin' huge. Great looking ride, jet black, lots of factory chrome....nice ride! Low center of gravity according to the owner, and comfy. Sure is a big machine, I like it, but I like my V-4 just that much better. gunk:smile5:
