  1. Today I passed a school and saw a Venture Royale 1300 in a school's drop off lane. At first I thought it was a teacher but then I realized it was a Dad dropping his son off to school. I look forward to taking my son to school on a bike, but he's only 5 now so that's a few years off. Looked like a fun way to go to school!
  2. In the hinge are of the tape deckI know there is one spring that pushes the door open when you press the door to release it. I found one when I took it out. Now what Im not sure of becuse it kind of fell part when I was taking the door off for paint and one fell out and i thought there was another. Is there one spring or two?
  3. Front brake Master Cylinder for a MK1?? There is no guts in it but was honed. I have 3 rebuilt Mk2 masters for myself and this is taking up room! Yours for the asking...
  4. I just noticed that there are a bunch of 2ndGens on Ebay right now. Quite a few more than normal. On the other hand 1stGen listings have almost dried up. I guess the economy is taking it's toll for those that are stroking payments. Tough times.... Scary times........
  5. How kids grow so quickly I remember taking her when she was 4 and sitting in front of me on the tank of the Honda 750 nighthawks doing 85 mph and saying to me Faster Faster She's not into Bikes Boats or fishing now Just Taking care of The 4 legged creatures
  6. Position: Surveyor Salary: $200 per hour (tax-free) Qualification: Must be fast on your feet Isn't it comforting to know that when you are about to become a bear's breakfast your buddy is standing there taking photos?
  7. E-Fishin-C

    LMAO

Hope and I are :rotfl::rotfl: That 4 day old puppy that I posted is actually a Shih Tzu Here's the photo of them two taking a nap
  8. To all my G2 comrads, After much thought I have decided that I am not going to be making the Muffler brackets for the H/D mufflers to the G2. I haven't been real happy with how the last few sets have turned out and I dont have the proper equipment to make them how I want to see them. This being said I will not be taking any orders for them...but there is good news here. I have talked with Hilliss here on our site, he will be taking over making them as the need arises so if you want to get a set, he would be the man to get ahold of. I have a set of his brackets that he sent to me to look at, and I'll tell you that you wont be disappointed with them. His quality is top notch and I like his workmanship. I'm sorry if this comes as a bit of a shock, but you'll still be able to get your H/D mufflers on your G2....it just wont be with brackets made by me. Thank you to all of the members that purchased sets from me....we'll see you on the road
  9. i can't believe we haven't SEEN pictures of the TATS yet!!! what's taking you ladies so long? lol just jt:Avatars_Gee_George:
  10. Yea, I haven't been hanging out here because I have been in another forum that deals with Mrs. GigaWhiskey's new to her bike. NEway, this guy just bought a clean looking CB550 and it stopped running on him right after he got it home. This is his first bike so he surely does have the ability to mess something up. A couple of members have him taking his carbs all the way apart. This guy has no idea if he has a dirt in the tank blocking the petcock tubes or fuel getting to the carbs or spark getting to plugs or a blown fuse or any of the basic things most of us will go through for something that could be really minor. You think he even has a sync tool, LOL, doubt it. Well, I said my peace in the thread so how it goes is how it goes. Btw, these things are sooooo easy to work on. Tank off in about 15 seconds, maybe 15 hours on ours, lol. I have no probem taking this CB750 to the frame for a powder coating, would not dream of it on mine.
  11. Well, I've been around here (forum) since about Oct,Nov. of the year Don started this site. I picked up my '05 the next month (Dec). Been thru the site crash, changed my forum name, traveled to the the Dragon Rally in Georgia once. But most of all I've enjoyed the wealth of knowledge I've gleamed, and the general tone of the site. Good people, good times. Aside from the very occaisional religious or political BS...it's a good place to come daily and read casually some interesting things. Preamble said, the wife and I are taking off this sat. from here in Tenn. headed east, taking a leisure trip to the coast of NC up thru DC to NY then back. All the way will be impromtu and spur of the moment. Take it as it comes trip. 2 weeks of cruising the highways, byways and mostly back roads. If you see the Silver '05 w/ black piggybacker tooling down the road, don't hesitate to wave, shout or cry out. We'll be moving from Tenn. up to the NW (seattle area) after the first of the year. New job will take me to Switzerland for a time....house needs to sell (keep fingers crossed), and then the new page of our life starts. I'm so looking forward to this trip.....wish it was longer, but I'm figuring co-pilot will need a pressure washer to get the 10 pounds of gold bond off her back side by the time we get back, that 2 weeks will have probably been enough. See you all down the road! Jim
  12. Taking a trip from Texarkana to Indy. Last time we went we took the boring "straight and fast" route. This time we want some backroads. When we get to memphis(or? Texarkana?) we could go north Effingham or east to Nashville. Anybody got any ideas on routes ?
  13. I leaving for VentureWest IV next Sat morning (the 9th of Aug) from Regina Sk. (about an 90min drive directly north of the Montana/NorthDakota border) and am probably going to be on highways I-15 to I-86 to I-80(basically thu Montana to idaho, to nevada to california) down to Sacramento eventuallly getting to SLO. Has anyone travelled those recently that knows of anything I should be aware (or beware) of. I would like to avoid construction if at all possible but its summertime and its just one of those things thats going to happen. I am also taking my time and not in a rush so if anyone knows of some places that are a must see along the way please let me know. Or if you know of some good spots to pull off to stop for the night and camp, I would appreciate if you would share that. I should add that I will be taking the SUV and trailering the bike down to Sacramento and then riding from Sacramento south to SLO Heres a link to the route I will be taking http://www.mapquest.com/maps?1c=Regina&1s=SK&1a=Sherwood+Drive&1z=S4R&1y=CA&1l=50.47702&1g=-104.66385&1v=STREET&2c=Sacramento&2s=CA the map is at the bottom of the page Thanks for any input Brian:cool10:
  14. Let me try this again......... I haven't been on in a while. my wife is in Minesota with her mother who has had a recent surgery. She will be home in august. Jake has moved to Camp Pendleton (Oceanside Ca.) With the Marines. He and His wife are Back together (long story) and she has moved out there with him. I have been assisting our Youth leader at church with some things they are doing and i have recently surrendered to the ministry Myself. now i am taking some distance learning toward an associated degree in theology. (slidell baptist theological seminary) I have two young boys at home with me while their mother is away. and i am still working. there just hasent been much time for me to hang out here. Now, We are leaving tuesday evening or wednesday morning with a 26' U-Haul truck and a trailer. We will drive straight through to Oceanside Ca. Spend a day there probably, unload the bikes and two of us will be riding back this way some time between thursday or friday. Anyone along the route that might be able to assist if we have trouble? that would be great. We wouldnt mind shaking a hand or two along the way if anyone wants to. I'll probably be taking the laptop with us so i'll be checking in. Our plan is to get home in three days (600 mi. a day) and be back to work Monday. The other rider is a neighbor who is going to help us with the driving and he wants to do the ride back since he has never been out that way. neither have i by the way. I not sure but i think our route will take us along I-10 and I-20 most of the way. Now if i can just find time to check a few things out on the bike and mount a new tire tomorrow.......................
  15. Bikes loaded, jumping in the shower, then taking Krome Rose out for breakfast before hitting the road to Herndon VA. Hopefully I have time to hook up with some of you who live in the area. Not too sure how much time I will have. My co-worker who went to this course earlier this month said the classes started at 8 am and ended at 7 pm. Doesn't leave much time for anything else. Tuesday might be the only day I get out at a decent time since that's the end of the first class I am taking. Like I said I hope I can hook up with some of you, but not too sure. If not then hopefully we can get together in Asheville.
  16. I'm leaving the Space Center Area in Florida around September 9th, and traveling to Indianapolis, Indiana and I don't want to use the Interstates. Has anyone traveled in or near this area that could tell me some good roads to take. I'm taking my camper and plan on taking about 3 days. I'm in no hurry and would like to see some sites on the way. Also if you have any infromation on camp sites I would like to know that. Thanks, Ken:backinmyday:
  17. Greetings all, Just a quick post to let you know I won't be annoying anybody for a while after tomorrow. Bright and early Thursday morning Wendy and I are heading off on a 5 weeks camping holiday through Central Australia. No bike - taking the Subaru Outback. In that time we will cover the entire continent from south to north (Adelaide to Darwin) then back again through inland Queensland. Check your atlas! Not taking any wireless broadband, so won't be on-line for those 5 weeks. Will however (when time and opportunity permit) check in to internet cafes and let you know how we're travelling. Plan on taking 4 cameras with me so I'll have thousands of images to play with whilst away, and hopefully sell a few when I get back to help finance the holiday. Y'all be careful out there you hear. I'll miss the 5,000th member joining, but whoever it may be - Welcome. Cheers from the Great Southern Land. Spear
  18. Well taking a trip to Indian River Mi. Leaving morning of the 28th of June. I will be stopping in Birch Run at Tony's for lunch or Breakfast around 11:30-12:00 Noon. Looking to see if anyone wants to meet and greet and of course EAT. Everyone is welcome to meet or even ride up with me from Downriver area to have a eat and meet or for just a ride. I plan on leaving sharp at 9:00 AM. Joe
  19. After studying the posts on this site, I decided I would install a Bartlett clutch in my '86 Venture. Everything came out just fine, but, I think there may be a problem. Is the clutch boss supposed to have any play in it? I can get a slight wobble out of it. I hadn't planned on taking it off, but will for sure if this "play" is abnormal. I would very much appreciate some advice here.
  20. I wore out my camera! We were on the way home Sunday morning from Maintenance Day when I was taking sunrise pictures and all of a sudden, all I was taking was black pictures. Battery was good so I was not sure what was going on? Sooo, I thought, humm, it shows I have 164 pictures left to take, but the chip must be full after taking a 1,000 of them. Got home, took out the chip, put in a new chip. Same result. Took out the battery, put in another one. Same result. Sleeperhawk reset all settings. Same result! Called Canon this morning and it seems it could be the mirror, so I have shipped it off to be repaired. Hopefully, it won't take too long to get it fixed. I have had the camera since December 2005 and have taken over 10,000 pictures if not more. I feel lost without it, but when it comes back, it will be like new! I am so thankful that it lasted as long as it did. That was why I was unable to take pictures of Muffinman and Sleeperhawk trading bikes for the short ride on the way home! At least the camera lasted enough to take pictures of our Venture Family during Maintenance day!
  21. I have read about taking this out of the system, what is it and how do I take it out of the system?????? Thanks
  22. I know a lot of you have ridden this area and I was looking for some recommendations on rides. I am leaving Wichita next Thursday (6/12) and riding to Eureka Springs. From there I was thinking of taking 23 south to I-40 then down the road to 7 and taking it back (suggested routes in "favorite roads" section here). Any favorite routes for members here? Looking for a good full day Friday, and perhaps and interesting route home Saturday. Also interested in hearing about your favorite campground or good places to eat. I will be camping Thursday and Friday night. Heading back on Saturday. Thanks!
  23. I am leaving Kitchener Friday June 6th, somewhere around 9:00a.m. going through Cambridge on Hwy #8 to Peter's Corners, then S/B on #222, and then E/B on #20 almost to Pelham, then S/B on #24 to hook up with #3, taking #3 to Fort Erie, crossing the border there and going to Buffalo for something. From there I am going to Westfield, New York to spend the night at my cousin's and Saturday morning we are heading to Shade Tree bike shop in Middlefield, Ohio on our way to Freebird's maintenance day. If anyone wants to either ride along or meet somewhere along that way for coffee or a sandwhich, let me know...I'm not on a schedule that day and will be taking my time enjoying the ride.
  24. Thanks to all who helped me work through the issues and bring the bike back to life. GeorgeS, Squidly, and Condor, and others thanks for taking the time to explain each step when I had yet another question. Now if I can locate someone willing to give the Royale a once over to see what else should be done. The engine seems to get a little loud once it is a operating temperature. A little less noticable when the clutch is pulled in. Not a knock like a bearing but more of a possible valve train issue. I live in South Central Pennsylvania, Bedford County. so if anyone lives in nearby PA., Western Maryland, or West Virginia and would be interested in taking a look, please give me a yell! Regards Dave
  25. when i got my 1984 venture from my father in law. he told me not to choke it or the plugs would fowl almost instantly. i am quite sure this is because it is running to rich. this could be caused by dirty carbs correct? jets maybe. Also when idling it mifires every 5 or so seconds out of the left exhaust could this be because of dirty carbs too? it runs perfect when your riding and come to a stop idles good. so im just wondering where i go now i need my choke i dont like taking the tank cover off and sprayin panther piss in to get it started when its cold lol also what is the exact process of taking the carbs off i know take the side fairings off and filter box but does it have intakes u just unbolt or what? i want to leave them all togather thanks
