  1. Looks like I'm headed for Arizona to look see about a bike. If I decide to get said bike I would be riding out on the 10th to about Albuquerque or maybe Santa Fe. Would like to know if anyone has any good riding tips, maybe construction warnings or heads up, from Phoenix to Albuquerque and on. Also, any recommendations for a cheap but decent hotel not to far off of I40 or I25. Looking at taking the highway all the way cause I just don't have the time to sight see. Thanks for any help you can offer.
  2. Here's the few pics I took at the meet in Florida. I got a couple of George and Bobbie together, plus some of Bobbie. It's hard getting pics of the two of them together, Bobbie is usually busy taking pics. Had a great time, can't wait to do it again. Margaret
  3. I see that most recommend the EBC brake pads for the RSV. I was wondering where to order for the best price. Also, has anyone had any problems with excessive disc wear due to using the HH sintered pads.I have got to do something, the stock pads just do not do a good job of hauling down 900 lbs. when you need it. Pretty scary when you are sqeezing the front brake lever real hard and pushing down on the back at the same time and the bike seems like it is taking forever to come to a stop.
  4. I'm looking to update my lighting on blondie. I've seen a couple threads on DIY stuff but i'm a little worried about taking that on myself.. are there any light kits still avaliable out there?
  5. so after much analyzing , ive come to the conclusion that my the carbs on my 98 need to be synchronized...is it a hard task?? or am I better off taking it to a shop ?? how much would a shop charge for that?? thanks
  6. Vacation coming up soon. Has anyone ever made the ride from Apache Junction to Roosevelt Dam (Hwy 88)? How long does it take? Trying to figure out how much water to take. Nope not taking the RSV, renting a couple of dualsports.
  7. Here's what I'm curious about... When running in the twisties does a heavier rider need to lean into the curve more than a light rider to maintain zero effect and balance at the same speed taking into consideration the static weight of the bike?? Hey it's raining...whadija expect...
  8. Before spring breaks loose, I am looking for a medium sized sport tourer for my son. He finished his season with the ninja 250 and I'd like to get him something to go on a trip with me. But he doesn't like the looks of a full dresser or the harley style either. He is at a fickle age so I'd like to get something that I wouldn't mind taking out either. It doesn't have to be a yamaha, just something that would be comfortable to ride all day. And I don't mind buying a used bike and actually prefer them. Got any recommendations for a used sport tourer? Iowa Guy:7_6_2[1]:
  9. How's that first gen garage a coming? You got a stall for each one? I heard they was a slow 86 close buy looking for a home. I bought a 6 ft rear blade for the tractor. Take care of the snow this winter. I'm taking Easter week off. Going down to the camp and landscape a spot and road for a scoot shed.
  10. Well heading up to NY tomorrow. Have some stuff to drop off for my niece for Christmas, so I'm taking David with me. It's about time he meets the family. Since he is kind of my 2nd husband now. I'll be back around thursday or friday. Margaret
  11. I am working with the vendor on making up head wraps with our club name silk screened on the front...I am not taking orders now but because there is a minimun order required, I need to know if there is enough interest in having these made up...the cost will be $7.00 each which will include shipping to the lower 48 states...two variations will be offered....if you think you would be interested in odering one of these, please post below....If there is enough interest , I can have these ready to go in about 2 weeks .....these are the products to be offered without the club name on them...............UPDATE.......OK...OK...We have enough interest to take orders...Freebird will be posting an ad for them in the VRstore soon...I will start taking orders once it is in.....if you have shown interest and want to order please follow instructions in the ad..thank you for supporting ''OUR CLUB''.......
  12. I don't normally watch South Park, but I came across it channel surfing a few minutes ago and it is unbelivable how far they are taking it with Harley Riders. It is sooooo politically incorrect that I can't even discuss it here. But, it was funny. RandyA
  13. Can I replace the valve(rubber and stem) without taking the tire off the rim Thanks!
  14. Just an up-date on the thumb brake installed on the quike. Quickstep had a devil of a time getting it to bleed and get the pressure up, but finally worked. It worked really well on the ride yesterday (Sunday) and isn't taking me that long to get used to. Sure is crowded on the left handlebar though To Qickstep: thanks Possum
  15. Ok everyone, they are finally done...check them out the VentureRider merchandise forum......thanks for being patient while all the bugs were being worked out...you can e mail or PM me for an order...I will not be taking orders in this forum as it will only add to the confusion , I'm confused enough....
  16. My front forks will not hold air, brand new bike... I will look at getting it repair in the winter not at the end of the season, unless it is dangrous to ride without air or do I really need the air? I'm sure this will be repair under warranty but is it something I will be taking back time after time.. Hell I even thought of using that fix flat but said naw better not...LOL So do you really need air or is it just another headache?
  17. I am sure there are a few out there. Who has removed the plastichrome accents off their fairing? Preferably blue 2007. Please post picture(s) if you have. I am thinking about taking mine off, but would like to see how it looks first. Thanks
  18. Dumped my RSTD back in August while riding through Glacier over very bumpy twisties. Landed in a mud puddle at about 30-35 mph. What a splash. Both of us were okay enough to finish the trip (4 days riding with 2 broken ribs). After getting her home and taking her down, I noticed this tweak. (plz see my What is Tweaked gallery) Is it A) Swingarm B) Frame C) My imagination D) None of the above Thanks for looking! PS Ibuprophen Rocks!
  19. I never did get a good bike count, but that was the most ventures I've seen @ once .Think it was mentioned as maybe the largest meet and eat turnout to date. Want to thank Eck and Blackjack for taking the time to put this together again this year. Didn't get to meet everyone but did get to see some bikes hope everyone had a safe trip home and Eck hope your trip on to Florida was a safe one. Maybe some of those picture taking folks will share a few photos .
  20. You are all invited to a mystery ride leaving the Flying J's truckstop tomorrow ..saturday the 5th at the entrance ramp to the ny state thru way on RT.77(near rt. 5) in Pembroke.. I believe its exit 48a...(but not 100% sure) for all of you who may be taking the thruway to get here..We will be leaving the truck stop at 12:00 sharp...everyone will lead the group for 1/2 hr or less.. we will see where we end up....come on down and join the fun.....:fnd_(16):
  21. Was at the local dealer yesterday to ask about checking the floats in my carbs and they didn,t seem interested to even look. Ok fine I,ll just drive it althought it seems alittle rich. Anyway as I was leaving I noticed a guy outside on the parking ramp pulling wrenches so went over to look. He,s got his bike tools on the ground and says he is taking his rear tire off. I say can,t the guys in the shop help and he says they said they are to busy. Isay you know you need a lift and alot more tools than that and he says I got no choice look at my tire, I do and the chords are showing:doh:. Then he says he made an appointment a week ago and now they are to busy. I see he has a RSTD and think that is the same as my Venture so to heck with these guys we,re taking this bike to my garage and doing this thing. So we load his parts in my truck and head for the garage. One hour later we are back to the dealer for a new tire and rear bake pads and heading back to the garage to put it all back together. One more hour and the drive shaft is greased with moly 60, the brakes are cleaned and installed and the tire is back on and properly torqued. Now just so everyone knows the info to do all this came from this site and all the guys who gave step by step instructions (and pictures:cool10:) should pat themselves on the back because without them this would not have happened. Dave said ( I think his name was Dave) thanks when he left so I thought I should pass the thanks on to you guys on this site for your effort to put the info on here without which we would still be sitting there cursing the dealer. Ride safe.
  22. I am about to start off on a new adventure. The story starts with a very close friend of mine from my pipeband being diagnosed with cancer. This happened as we lost another member to same type of cancer. Paul is his name and he has had his thyroid and other items removed. Now they cant find any remaining cancer but doctors as they are wanted to bombard him with chemo and radiation. The toll it was taking on him was astronomical so he said enough is enough. Mind you they cand find any remaining cancer and they are doing this to him. Paul sought alternative treatment in a place in Arizona and will be there for for 6 weeks. Just before he left we were at his house around the campfire. In the last year he lost his business, he is getting divorced, and got cancer but he knows he has the band, his bike and his friends, Us. Just in a passing thought we suggested that we should fly out so see him while he is away. They say everyone needs something to look forward to and this became his motivation!!! Wild Hogs!!! With this we will be flying out to see my buddy. Four of us middle aged guys on the adventure of our life. Taking the weekend and riding to the Canyon. Bagpipes and drums in the saddle bags to play at the canyon. Some stories we will be able to tell and others will be under the "Vegas" rule. Since we started planning this the life that has come back to Paul is incredible!!! Stories for a lifetime! "Piper Hogs go Wild"!!!!!
  23. We are going to be leaving from St Louis area Thursday on our way to Freebird's place for maintenance day. Anyone else going to be one the road in the area that day? We plan on taking 2 days, getting there sometime Friday. Let me know if anyone wants riding company.
