  1. North Atlanta Trade center... I had hoped to set up a meet and eat and ride to this event, but things have been nuts at my house / work lately (not a bad thing, just a thing). Anyway, anyone else planning on going tomorrow? Supposed to be sunny and low 60's in the afternoon. The wife and I are planning on going for a while in the afternoon. A link to the venue-show
  2. My wife and I were at a wedding. When the priest got to the part were he ask's the bride {{ Do you promise to love, honor and obey for as long as you both shall live ? }} I turned to my wife and whispered in her ear . . . See its the WIFE who is supposed to honor and obey!! Hospital Visiting Hours are 10 AM to 8 PM
  3. Well here we go again. Winter storm in the SE for the second time this year. Why did I move away from Nebraska? Getting really hammered with 5" on my deck already and it is supposed to snow all day and then turn to freezing rain. I think I will hybernate. Pictures will follow!
  4. I am replacing the pads on my rear and was wondering if both pistons are supposed to be able to back off or is one side stationary?
  5. Well the Motorcycle cannonball run is supposed to arrive in Clovis, NM tonight. (originally posted in this thread: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=52686) http://www.motorcyclecannonball.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=47&Itemid=53 It looks like the bikes are supposed to be on display from 430-630 (Local time - that's mountain time for you Texans coming over). My plan is to leave work, as soon as I get out of my meeting (Hopefully ~345) which will put me in Clovis around 430 (+/- 15 minutes) (Mountain time). I'll be on an 01 RSV (Green/Green), likely with a female passenger, and both of us will have silver crash jackets. So, if you are planning on heading over there keep an eye out for me and say hi (if you want that is) I may or may not grab a meal while I'm there, depending on how busy town is and who all is around. Hope to see you there!!!
  6. I traded some BUBS for a set of Tour Deluxe factory mufflers. The TD dpipes arrive today and the opening to the pipes is 1/4 inch bigger than the BUBS, in fact the the BUB muffler opening will slide into the TD muffler opening , aren't they supposed to be exactly the same? I tightened down most of the set screws but I am uncomfortable going much tighter. The exhaust is leaking at the end of the header. What I am i doing wrong?
  7. Took Warden back to doc today and he shot me down!!! 3 weeks + in the cast and I told her. No way you are getting out of that thing!! Doc took pics and said That thing really looks Great!!! Where is my saw? I've seen a few X-Rays and it looks Great!! Old Ladies not supposed to heal that Good!!! Gave Her a Clamshell she is supposed to wear and stay on crutches as she needs them. He talked to her pretty good and I haven't her without crutches more than 1/2 dozen times so far and without the Clamshell twice!! Just left Docs office 6 hrs ago!!! She went shopping for fishing gear!! But it is GREAT that she is healing like that. Or I just need to change Docs???
  8. Hello all. Hoping someone can help me. Up here in Coldwater Ontario Canada (yes, I do know Dick Shrivels from Coldwater- haha), I have been experiencing progressively worsening fuel mileage, backfiring on deceleration, etc. So, when I had some service done before, by the supposed 5 Star dealer in Midland Ontario (not to name names but if you recall the nursery rhyme about the name of a boy and a girl who "went up the hill to fetch a pail of water), they apparently put the caps on too tight & not straight or something, wrinkling 2 of the carb diphragms and the needle almost sitting sideways (so I am told). Apparently the diaphragms are backordered from yamaha canada until June 6. I have called around to several dealers and they do not have any in stock. I stopped going to that dealer and went to another shop that their service manager went to. He was getting his parts from a Yamaha dealer in Barrie who supposedly told them the parts would be in yesterday, then today, until...hmmm, not until June 6. Any of our US brother or sister venture riders able to get your hands on 2 diaphragms? Part number 5DM-14940-00-00 Are there any compatible aftermarket versions? The diphragms are supposedly not torn, but they are wrinkled. They are putting the bike backtogether so I can use it and day that the performance & fuel economy will be much better but I will need them replaced. This is supposed to be my anniversary weekend motorcycle ride with my wife leaving yesterday with plans to ride around Lake Michigan - but we are now 27 hours behind schedule and the bike will be ready 2 hours from now. She has taken two days vacation and pissed off...good times! Thanks for your help in advance. My email is trevor.storey@rogers.com and goes to my blackberry if anyone has any information or leads that can help me out. Thanks
  9. Has anyone heard anything on when they will be back up. I heard they were having server problems and were supposed to have it fixed by last weekend. I know there are quite a few members here and just wondered if there was anyone that knew anything.
  10. Question for you guys, didn't find anything on the forums ( but i might be blind! ) My draincock is leaking, and i see that there is an O-Ring that goes on that valve, but i have three questions: 1. is it ok to use a Viton O-Ring in there? 2. How do i get the darn thing out? 3. which position is it supposed to be in during regular opperation? the book shows you turning it to "on" for flushing the system, but does that mean that normally off is supposed to point to the left (as you face the headlight, looking at the valve) thanks again!
  11. Another newbie question. There is a handle by the passenger seat, if I follow the cable it goes to the passenger backrest. What is this supposed to do? I pulled up on the lever and I think it is supposed to allow access to the rear compartment? Thanks in advance, Don
  12. A friend of mine, who no longer rides, gave me a "Goodyear Racing" branded motorcycle jack. It's been a year or two since he's used it and he lost all the instructions that came with it. It's operation seems easy enough with the exception that I can't seem to make it go up. Anyone got an idea of what I might be doing wrong or at least have a scan of the manual that was supposed to come with this jack? Thanks in advance!
  13. Okay, I downloaded the service data spec. sheet for my 99... see attached. About halfway down page 1 it gives the CO% at which the carbs are supposed to be set. It appears that carbs 1 and 3 are to be set between apporximately 2.5~3.5% and 2 and 4 are supposed to be set between 3.5~4.5%. What gives and why would that have you set them differently. Let me see if I have the cylinder placement correct also. Sitting on the bike facing forward 1=LR, 2=LF, 3=RR, 4=RF I'm sure of 1 and 2 just can't remember 3 and 4.
  14. Eck This is the rally I was thinking was occurring in the Maggie Valley area. Sept 24-26 Wings Over The Smokies GWRRA NC District Rally Fletcher, NC Buchtec is supposed to be there, demoing their trailers.
  15. Well I'm still in the hospital and the coumadine level is being slow about coming up. The last couple days from 1.3, 1.6, and today 1.7. The level has to be 2 before he will let me go home. Normally takes about 5 days(yesterday). The cast was supposed to come off tuesday so we rescheduled for frid. This is a bummer and these 4 walls are closing in. OH and all of you that submitted MD pics they were great, thanks. Oh well enough crying.
  16. I just put on the '87 fork legs on my '83. But one is leaking oil out the little drain screw. [The bike isn't even off the stands yet!] Are these screws supposed to have any little gasket washers on them? Thanks, Mark Koontz '83 Venture Wichita, KS
  17. My schedule just got changed this week...I was supposed to work this weekend...now I find my boss decided to change the schedule and I am off. Anyway...if anyone from Western New York would like to get together for a ride, a meal, and some good times, please email email me at JGorom@rochester.rr.com or call me at (585) 948-5332 and we can make plans. The weather is supposed to be very nice this weekend in Western New York...so...when two or more are gathered together from this group...well...we are both blessed and bound to have a good time. Later...
  18. What do you suggest to use to re-attach the holder, on the tank, for the head set cord receptacle? Somehow, it popped off when I bumped it. I don't know if it is supposed to be stuck on with a glue or maybe a 2-sided tape. Anyone else have this problem? Owen.
  19. Does anyone have instructions for the installation of a Steve Wagner grill? I just got a used one and would like to know how it is supposed to go on with out screwing it up. Bubber aka Steve
  20. How many of you motorcycle riding love birds have plans for Valentine's Day? I so wanted to go for a country ride. Mother nature has other plans, supposed to get thunder storms Saturday and Sunday. Maybe he will take me to the movies.
  21. OK, who knows all about Visco Elastic Polymer, Padding material. ???? I found its being used for Race Car Seats, supposed to be comfortable !! Anybody know the details on the this stuff ?? From what I have been able to find it came on the market about 3 years ago. Supposed to be the Cats Meow, for comfortable seating ??
  22. We are supposed to be getting .10 to .25 of sleet and ice tonight. THat will shut down the entire town!!! Call out the state guard and roll up the roadways. Call Washington for disaster relief. People around here can't drive in the rain let alone snow or ice. You watch, people will DIE tonight and tomorrow. Sad but true. Tom in Blanco will be getting his share about 9pm. San Antonio is supposed to get it by midnight. Jo
  23. Just changed out the plugs in my 08 RSV with 9000 miles on them. The owner's manual says to change them at 8000 miles, but when I pulled the plugs out, they looked fine. I changed them anyway but was wondering why we are supposed to change them at 8000 miles? Electronic ignition and unleaded premium gas will get you about a 100,000 miles on on some car engines. Anyone have any ideas why we are supposed to change them at 8000 miles? Thanks, Glenn
  24. Just watched the weather and it is supposed to be 74 degrees here tomorrow and I have nothing that I have to do or anywhere I have to be. Looks like a great day for a ride. Hard to believe it is December.
  25. This is way too soon, but it looks like winter weather is headed in to stay tomorrow with daytime highs in negative digits. yuk!! Snow is expected tomorrow and the high for tomorrw and for the next several days is supposed to be between -2 to -8 C (30 - 18F) . Overnight lows are supposed to be getting down to -20c (-4F) starting Thurs nite. It looks like everyones bike rides around here are done for quite a while now. Keep warm! Brian:snow::snow::snow:
