  1. I've been making saw dust in a serious manner for 30 years and have been playing at it since high school in 1958. Well I let my guard down this afternoon for just a mili-second and believe me, that's all it takes. I know exactly how I did it, it was stupid - just dumb a$$ STUPID - Fortunately, it'll just require reconstructive surgery, an out patient thing I'm told, but none the less, I'll be NOT riding the bike for a week or so - maybe longer. I just knicked the bone but obliterated the tendon - the Dr. said that can be fixed. That's a good thing, the down side is I don't know how involved it will be. BTW - I was working on furniture for a show this fall.
  2. You have Trip 1 and Trip 2 ..than what heck Trip F is used for
  3. While talking with my Son-in-law yesterday, the subject came up about when he had his 'CrotchRocket'. He mentioned a couple of times about the Rev Limiter. I know that my Venture has one also. Back in my younger days, around 1980, I used to go over Red-Line MANY times on my old 2-Stroke Kaw H1 500. I eventually exploded a piston doing this. But, I did go beyond Red-Line MANY times before that. It always felt like walking a tightrope, knowing that I could blow the engine sometime. Plus, the little extra power it gave got the adrenaline up. Of course I would NEVER do that on THIS bike, but I still don't like someone else keeping me from being stupid. To me, it's kind of like the Helmet Law, if I want to be stupid and ride without one, it should be my right to. craigr
  4. Well, After my second no start because the battery had lost it's juice, I finally installed the high output mosfet regulator. The AAA, gave me a boost (Boy I'm' glad I have it!) I was getting Burger's after my night shift. well I thought it might do this RRRR click click.: So I got back to the garage and tore into her found the side cover leak I had fixed it as well. Boy what a stupid place for a voltage regulator!! So I will find out later today if it works Sorry no pics I was a little pi#sed off. but now its' done. Cheers Mike R. In Calgary..
  5. As the frigid & cold weather starts to taper off here in the south, I find myself doing what a lot of others are doing... Watching the weather forecasts like our lives depend on it. Obviously, it's been great riding weather here in ENC for the past few days, cresting over 60 degrees... Today is supposed to be around 66 degrees... Outstanding. There WAS, however, a minor oversight on my part... Overnight lows. I'm all dressed for work, in my slacks & polo shirt, strapping on my leather jacket, and gloves, with a fleece underneath. I opt for the half-helmet with the removable ear muffs... I'm ready to roll. 34 degrees as I'm beginning my 40 mile journey to work... Stupid, stupid, stupid... Shoulda bought chaps when I was at Shamrock Biker Outfitters last time. 20 minutes in, legs go numb, face moves really slow when I try to poorly sing along with The Doobie Brothers (jammin' from my Shark Radio) but my torso is cozy... Khakis are the worst cold-weather gear known to man, next to shorts. I'd like to say "I don't know what I was thinking..." but I do. I was thinking, "It's gonna be 66 on the way home. This is worth it." It's really not. I should've just ridden when I got home from work. Since I don't have any lower deflectors to go with my Nat'l Cycle Switchblade windshield, the wind came right over the tank, and in my face. Clicked a few values into a wind chill calculator, and it was about 15 degrees. I've been at work for 2 hours, and I STILL don't have complete feeling in my legs, not to mention they are STILL cold. If anyone knows a nice alternative to spending $150 on lower deflectors from Nat'l Cycle, or fabricating a mount from my factory windshield/lower mounts, let me know. I'm gonna need 'em.
  6. Was looking at parts fiche for '09 RSV, on page 49 of 101 # 12, there is a plug in the top of the drive shaft tube. What is this plug for? May be a stupid question, but I didn't know it was there or what is it's purpose for being there.
  7. Woke up this morning at 5am and no one in the house wanted to talk to me, logged into my favourite site to read a few post. I landed on the Embarrassing Moments Had a good laugh reading all the mishaps people owned up to. Well here goes. 1st drop: I was 16 yrs old and my first bike was a Honda 400 I woke to find the bike on its side. I took it out to early in the spring and the kick stand sunk in the mud during the night. 2nd drop: I was 17 yrs old pulled into the place were I worked in a big hurry to get my pay check. Jumped off the bike and ran in the front door, realising what I did turned to see her falling over because I forgot to put the kick stand down. 1st crash I was 18 yrs stupid. It’s been 28 yrs since I have laid one down (brand new Honda 500 Custom). Young and fearless I would play on a hill going to my friend’s house. I would come over the top of a hill and start down the hill, half way down the hill the pipeline crossed the road creating a jump. The hill bottomed out and the grade changed to up hill again. My friend lived at the end of the road, 90 degree turn left into his yard. The road ended at his driveway and the Canadian white pine forest started. Done right: Hit the jump at 50 m/hr and catch some air, apply full breaks to make the left turn. Not a lot of room for error. Done wrong: Hit the jump at 50 m/hr and catch some air, and have the throttle stuck wide open…… apply full breaks with the motor screaming. I was able to hit the kill button turn the bike sideways and skidded into the pine forest. The bike hit a small tree stood up and rested on the tree in an upright position. (Unbelievably not a scratch on the bike). I was thrown from the bike when it suddenly stopped, I hit a tree or two, and laid in a ball, I was not seriously hurt, no broken bones, scratches and pride. My friends dad was outside in the driveway and watched the entire show and came to my aid. This was the day I learnt to respect the bikes. Stupid Stupid Stupid I have not laid one down since then. I have ridden with a number of new riders since then and always tell them, you will drop it, you will fix it and if no one is around no one will know if you can keep from telling some one. Just don’t be stupid.
  8. :doh:Lets how fast you member can do this AND Yah I have too much Time on my Hands:rasberry: SpeedTestjddt.pps (148KB) Now why isnt this working :doh: stupid PC
  9. I need the size of the 2 bolts that hold the back seat on. Tore the bike down to trailer it for our camping trip and forgot to put them in the bag with the other screws/parts etc (Stupid..Stupid..Stupid). Anyway I have gone to Home Depot here twice to find an appropriate bolt and both times I was wrong. I assume it is a metric size thread and it is not 7mm which I tried. Help would be GREATLY appreciated.... Yours truly The Idiot... :bang head:
  10. Mom Nabbed for Breastfeeding While Driving http://www.newser.com/story/52071/mom-nabbed-for-breastfeeding-while-driving.html It never ceases to amaze me at just how stupid the human race can be sometimes. This is a classic example of why "Big Brother" thinks he has to make so many ridiculous laws to protect us from ourselves. A few people out of how many millions does something stupid, and now we ALL will have to suffer the consequences.
  11. i got a tank bib from talisman, the bib is great but it hits the plug. i remember someone posting the solution to this problem. can anyone help, that's a stupid question you guy's are always there....thanks ahead of time
  12. frankc

    Seafoam?

Please don't think I'm stupid, but I read everyone using something called Seafoam. Now from the threads, I can see it has something to do with the fuel. Would someone please tell me what it does and where it can be pruchased! It seems everyone uses it. Thanks
  13. Evidently the cops chased this guy and he tried to jump the draw bridge while it was opening. Not too bright. Here's the story. I thought it was pretty funny. I guess he watched too many movies where this worked. http://www.wavy.com/global/story.asp?s=8978726&srvc=leadstory Margaret
  14. who owns a Virago. Russell, When I'm on the Virago, I always get wind blowing up on the left side of my bike that hits me right in the face. Does this ever happen to you? I find that if I put my left foot on the passenger peg it stops it, (but that obviously looks stupid not to mention, it's not the safest way to ride) I don't know why it's only on the left side but anyway....Do you know of any place that sells wind deflectors for an 95 1100 Virago?
  15. :rotf: Is This Robber stupid or what. He didnt get any money but left cell Ph # to call'em when owner come to open safe http://abclocal.go.com/wls/story?section=news/local&id=6041624
  16. Well, I don't know what to think of this article exactly, but if it's true it could mean I'll have to go back to writing letters to the editor. Says on the following link to CNN that software developers have developed a "Stupid" filter for on-line forums that automatically puts stupid comments in the trash. Wonder if they can build one that works as an interlock on the car's ignition? http://money.cnn.com/magazines/fortune/fortune_archive/2007/11/12/100954554/index.htm?postversion=2007110712
  17. Please don't think that I'm stupid or anything, but this has been boggleing my mind ever since I got my RSV. Is there anything that you "have to do" to the speakers before you wash the bike? Can they get wet? If they do, will it hurt them? I'm not trying to sound stupid, but this is my first bike with an audio system and I don't want to ruin it. Thanks!
