  1. I would like to know if there is a way to de-tune my range on the cb. I have the squelch set all the way up on 20 and I get chatter like crazy. My brother in-law has a Midnight and on the way to and from MD Saturday I was getting a TON on trucker chatter, he did not get any. My wife has a J&M on her Shadow and she does not get the chatter. I swear my radio must be picking stuff up from 20 miles away. It's very annoying. Makes it hard to listen to the radio. I almost had to turn it off on the way down. I do not want to hear all the other stuff, just the poeple I am riding with. Does anyone know how I can reduce the range?...........without breaking off the antenna!!!!
  2. just want to say bike is finaly home. but due to my helath right now and cleaning up after my aunt and getting her settled in the home. i cant ride it:crying: Dianne has the keys. we treated it with seafoam damn that stuff it getting expensive almost 9 bucks a can. but worth it. the exhaust has been fixed thanks to you members and your donations. all the brakes are done. Dianne said i can go and clean it LOL. looks like end of month she,s getting a 2005 v star ? 650? i hope i got that right? mechanic said the bike runs darn good. but next spring might want to consider carb work?? not sure what he meant by that? got a friend whos son is takeing auto body. he,s checking to see if this winter he can take all my plastic in for a paint job. i just pay cost of paint and school shop cost. looks like some things are comming around for me? so latter im going to be asking how to pull the fairings and stuff LOL once again thanks to all of you im keeping the dream alive.
  3. here is a great on line parts supplier for the gold wing, www.directlineparts.com/ they have great service and prices. i bought most all my wing stuff from them. they also cover other metric bikes.
  4. Apparently some folks have quite a bit of time on their hands. I got an e-mail from the IT guy that runs/maintains one of the servers that I do most of my work on. Apparently 5 of our account passwords have been compromised (that is 5 people with accounts on this system), some files have been accessed and there is some stuff missing. So, apparently my 16 character password that is case sensitive including symbols, numbers, lower case and uppercase letters (and nothing that even resembles a real English word, phone number, address, etc) wasn't quite good enough - or someone just really wanted to get in. Now with that said, I'm pretty sure the joke is on them because most of the stuff in that account is either incomplete data analysis (since this particular experiment is still ongoing) and the rest is stuff that is completed and I either already have it published or it is in the process of being published - so they really have nothing to gain from accessing my junk. Anyways - I'm glad I keep my stuff backed up, so I can restore everything and not think twice about what may have been monkeyed with, but regardless it is still a little bit irritating and confusing. I just don't get some people Okay, I'll shut up and get back to work
  5. I am bringing a lot of 1st gen parts I have accumulated thru the years and have no intention of taking them home. I have a couple of MK2 saddlebags, a MK1 Markland hitch, some crash bars, etc. I just can't really afford to ship the stuff out any more, and keep forgetting yto send out stuff I have promised to. Must be old age... These are free, but if you want to donate something to the site feel free to do so!

don't look like,i'm can make it,need to be out of here,by the 20 th,have a lots to do,DAMN, i have a lot of junk, you know PACK RAT STUFF, it's hard to thro away all this good STUFF, help hasn't showed up for the last three days, haven't even got to go look,at any new places yet still have a chance, but it is vary slim lowell
  7. I made a reciever hitch for my bike. Since I have all the stuff to make one, I did. Anyway a friend of mine was helping me, and we decided we needed a reciever hitch cover. He used to demo derby a lot, and had some odds and ends lying around. He came up with an emblem off from a 1964 Chrysler Imperial. It is perfect, and a great idea. It works pretty good. I am not going to pull a trailer, but made a small rack to carry a cooler. I did test load everything to see where to place all my stuff before heading on a trip for a long weekend. Next thing is to test ride it. Here is a few pics!
  8. I ordered a Harbor Freight Tag-Along and it was delivered yesterday. Last evening, Squidley, his wife Sweetnothing, Jus Monkeyin' Around, and Ponch arrived to get me going in style. Yes, there were three Dave's gettin' her done. One of the side marker lights was busted in shipping, but I wanted LEDs anyways. So I was sent off to HF for a kit, and re-routed to Sears to get some washers to solve a parts issue. By the time I was back, they had the wheels on and were waiting on me to attach the drawbar. Everything went about as smoothly as you might expect with this crowd, mixed with HF stuff. In particular, the tongue coupler was misshapen and needed to be stretched. After some head scratching, Dave, Dave, and Lonna figured out how to do that and we had successful coupling! Brad did a terrific job of wiring the harness. I had no idea that it would go under the seat. I was thinking it would be tapped off the fender bundle. He gave me all first-class parts. I got the good stuff! All in all, these fine people gave me six hours of their time. I think the best, most enduring benefit of this site is the friendships that develop. I am extremely grateful. Thank you. Dave (Photos to follow when I tow it somewhere.
  9. Last night I broke up with my recent girl friend. What's up with these women who start a relationship and then ask a guy to give up his bike for them? Boomer....who sez ya gotta draw a line in the sand on this "Give and Take" stuff that wimmen lay on ya.
  10. Was checking out a box full of "stuff" I've had sittin around for who knows how long and finally sorted through it for a bit. To my surprise I found a complete coil/ignitor (cdi) assembly. Short of installing the cdi box, how would one bench check this thing to find out if it is good? In this very large box is all kinds of other stuff, including a complete motor off an 86 VR. If anyone needs something let me know and I'll see if what you might be looking for is in this box of goodies.
  11. My sister (Lilsis on here) is looking at a '97 Royal Star Tour Classic with 17k on it. What should I look at aside from the obvious stuff? Any thoughts would be appreciated.
  12. Why are there so many accidents? Check this video out from Springfield (where ever that is?) it will surprise you....but then again, maybe not. Scary stuff? http://link.brightcove.com/services/player/bcpid1418565565?bctid=70368898001
  13. Took the bike out for its first decent run since its re-birthing this winter. Bike was naked, not me, everyone can breath now. No plastic on bike except front and rear fenders. I really think this all has been worth it. Running at about 50mph in third and twist the throttle open and I had to grab grips harder it had so much acceleration. Revs up to about 8500 RPM with out pushing hard, hit almost 9000 once with no sign of valve float. Front brakes are absolutely no problem, Rear brake didn't lock up, which is good. Put about a 1/3 of a can of seafoam in it, and rode about 30 miles. Carbs are close, but haven't been synced yet. Occasional pop when decelerating. Might be running a little rich, exhaust pipes where sort of soft black. Clutch is a handful with the two diaphragm springs in it. No leaks anywhere. All the electrical stuff is working. 14. I picked up my 83 Royale today. There's quite a bit of rust on much of the chrome and white junk all over the other metal. Looks almost like an acid type stuff. Comes off easy though. The guy gave me a receipt for work he had done in 2006 but put less than 300 miles since then. His bill came to $900 and included new brakes, calipers rebuilt, fork seals, plugs, carb tune, new rear tire, and a bunch of other stuff. I paid $400 for the bike. I found a bottle of oil in the side bag and I just pray it wasn't oil he used. It was a bottle of energy saving oil - so first thing will be to change the oil. I would have done it anyway. I need to bleed the clutch line and get the battery charged up. I may keep it to ride to work or offer it to my brother in law who is looking for a ride.

  16. Still naked as a jay bird but got it running tonight. Started, ran & idled fairly good for what its been through. Stripped to frame, new engine, heads and a ton of other stuff. I so happy I could just poop. 17. Just in case you dont hear from me for a couple days, and think I crashed...lol My internet may be down for a bit. Depends on how easy I can run the cat5 cable. Can't do it sloppy, like I usually do. I'd rather not go wireless, cause I play some games and dont trust wireless to be as good as the hardwire, for shooting the badguys. Had the collector welded where it goes into the muffler, on the scoot. Was pretty nasty, but he fabed some stuff and its better than ever now. At least since I've had it. I may get another year or so out of this one. Looks like the other side will need addressed, end of season or next spring. To get under the bike, we just tipped her over. No prblems at all, I put down some furniture blankets to rest her on. PS: Moving it hard:crying:
  18. Does anyone have, or can someone take a picture of how the wires and plugs connect under the passenger seat. I had my CB off and like a dummy I didn't take a pic before I unplugged stuff and it's been long enough that I've forgotten where a couple of plugs go. I would appreciate some help here...thanks a lot.
  19. Just came across this site ... fairly new. http://canadiancruisercustomizing.com/

OMG! Ugly white stuff fell out of the sky this morning! Samples have been sent away to the U.S. for analysis. The city of Victoria is in chaos, there is panic in the streets. Send supplies now. Cases of Scotch, Brandy, Rum etc, oh yeah, I guess a loaf of bread wouldn't hurt. Send them all to me and I will dri...er...distribute them to the needy. Wait a minute, the sun is out, the white stuff is gone, all is OK, but send the supplies just in case.
  22. Check this out on e-bay( New old stuff) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140386848177&_trksid=p2759.l1259
  23. I thought I'd share my recent experience with the Famous Rick Butler Bag Bolts & Seat Thumb Nuts. I communicated with Rick to buy them on Saturday... Paid Rick with PayPal on Saturday... Rick shipped them on Saturday... I received them on Monday... Installed them today (Tuesday)... They stuff works great as described & Rick's performance for shipping is fantastic. I'd recommend this stuff to all. JohnB
  24. Last few days (and nights) have been sooooo hot Still 25c all night last night, and 42c during the day :scorched: Maybe some of that white stuff wouldn't be too bad
  25. Well, it seems it happened to me I was online last night and everything locked up, I wound up shutting the thing down and restart and all i got was as my friend calls it "the blue screen of death" after about five failed attempts i dropped it off and he calls me this afternoon and tells me "good news", I found why it won't boot up! I say: Great, so did you get it going? and he says: well, that's the bad news!! sure enough, hard drive crashed, it can't find the boot program, disk severely corrupted. etc. Oh yeah!! This is good stuff!! A rather pricey Dell tablet PC and it's not worth a crapola and due to my own .... shall we say lack of diligence :innocent: ...... of course, you guessed it: NO back up!!! Yes!!! I love this stuff! Well; compost happens, I know I'll be trying to figure what i can salvage from this mess, heck might even start a back up regimen. Wonder if i can claim no income for 2009 now :rotfl:
