  1. Got the 4 gauge welding cable today for the battery cables. You could jump start a semi with this stuff. A standard ground cable is shown beside it in picture. Yes, it's orange, that's the only color they had the heavy duty 4 gauge cable in. Black heat shrink will fix that. Standard cable has 378 thicker strands in it, this has 1045 finer strands. Electricity mainly flows along the surface of a wire, so the finer strands are better overall conductors. McMaster Carr has it. Had to get 10ft, that's minimum order. $2.82 a foot. 10 terminals were $8.03. Wanted to get a set of the JIS standard screwdrivers and McMaster was only place I could find them, none locally. Placed order last night around 5:00pm and got stuff at 6:00pm tonight with standard shipping rates. Gary
  2. The link below should take you to the 10 most expensive bikes in the world. At least that is the title of the article. I thought it was interesting that from $90,000-$300,000+ each bike would only be good for a short ride if that. None of them lets me carry any stuff. Some of the bikes reminds me of one of my favorite thoughts - Just because you can build something does not mean that you should. http://motorcycles.about.com/od/buyingamotorcycle/tp/The-10-Most-Expensive-Motorcycles-in-the-World.htm
  3. What are some good ways to stop a pesky bead leak? It would be nice if I could do it without having to take the wheel off the bike. If I end up having to take it off, and I'm able to break the bead free from the rim, I just clean up the bead area and apply some bead sealer. I keep looking at the green stuff and the like that get put into the tires to seal leaks. But they appear to be intended for the tread area and not for bead leaks. Any ideas? Bill
  4. It's been constant for weeks. One storm behind the other and I hate riding in this stuff. Mike
  5. 8'ft wall of water heading to west coast of USA It Hit Hawaii already and they said not a "damaging event" Scary stuff!
  6. Been here for a few days and I think we are the only english speaking people,I did here some of that funny sounding Texas stuff. I seen a 99 RSV yesterday on 192 going the other way. I wish I could of put my scoot on the plane.
  7. This lady has a series of videos that are a real eye opener! This one is about 20 min...but I highly recommend it for anyone who might care about the world we live in. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gLBE5QAYXp8]YouTube - Story of Stuff, Full Version; How Things Work, About Stuff[/ame] There are several others....The Story of Bottled Water, Electronics, Cosmetics, and one on Cap and Trade I do what I can, but I'm just scratching the surface and there is always room for improvement. I have strong religious belefs concerning the future, but without getting political, or religious I'd encourage discussion on this topic.
  8. We dont realize how fast things change until we look back at an old ad. The stuff that has probably changed the most is the computer related stuff, so here are some old ads to enjoy. http://uneasysilence.com/archive/2010/10/15478/ Brian
  9. This stuff is really amazing and easy to use, but man does it stink until it dries! Strongly advise to mix and use it in a very well ventilated area. http://www.plast-aid.com/video/Introducing_PlastAid_BB.mov
  10. Anyone got any info on the facts that Camp Fuel has the same ingredients as Sea-Foam? Tried to ask this question at Maint Day and didn't care much for answer I got so I'll take it to the experts. If Camp Fuel has the same ingredients as Sea-Foam what is it missing? Could we make up a cheaper Sea-Foam? We don't have the 44 stuff around here and I really don't want to know about it. I have found Sea-Foam to be some great stuff but they are pricing themselves out of the market or at least my pocketbook. But I bought a gallon this spring. I have been mixing things to try to come up with something that works as good but little afraid of some of the harsher ones. Any Ideas???
  11. I like a nice shiny bike and i love the look of the amourall type of protectants on the tires to make them all nice and black and shiny, BUT I wont use it on the bike because I dont want to find out that the silicone has gotten onto the tire's tread by sliding out in a corner. I have found this new stuff that made in the US that claims they are motorcycle safe and are silicone free. Has anyone tried it? I was going to order some and try it out. http://www.renewprotect.com/main.html A you tube video on it too [ame=http://www.youtube.com/user/renewprotectvideo#p/u/6/hGmCdlGxBKc]YouTube - renewprotectvideo's Channel[/ame] Brian
  12. Hey! Clean out some of that old PM stuff man. It's full!!! Got something for you to take a look at. Mike
  13. I opened a E-Card this morning and then started getting this small window pop up, looked like a windows app. that said I nneded to up date and that I was out of drive space..it showed up as HDDLow and created an Icon on my desk top..I could not close it, it changed my desk top to all black except for what it wanted me to click. I ran a full Mcafee scan and it found and removed it, but I still did a system restore, hope its gone. I do not use this lap top for anything other then this site, email, PGR stuff, so if I end up having to wipe it clean and start over I will not be out anything. Has any one heard of this one?? I would sure like to catch these ^%$# that have nothing else to do but screw up things..Just be carefull opening up e-cards or anything that you are not 100% sure of. Kreg
  14. Dang it's wet. Too bad it's not the white stuff... http://www.cast-aways.com/images/unlucky.jpg
  15. Well inspired by Sylvester I decided to get some pillow top seats for my MM. I just went to the auto parts store and picked up some can spray paint that was close in color to the stock MM seats. The color is a little lighter but not much. If I had it to do over again I would take Sylvester's advise and have the color I want made up at a auto paint supplier and I would use a spray gun. It would probably be cheaper. The stuff I used was made to cover plastic and auto seat vinyls. It coats it well but you need to make sure that the vinyl is clean. I don't know how well this stuff will work over time but for now it seems to stick pretty well and is very pliable. I like the pillow top seat very well and this is an effort to put them on my MM. If this doesn't hold up well then I'll bite the bullet and find a reputable upholstery shop around here and have them recovered. Anyway here are a few pic's of my MM.
  16. Hi Guys and Gals... I have a holes in the chamber thing and I cannot get it a patch to hold for anything. I have tried muffler patch and the clay stuff that turns into metal, even a screw and the clay/metal stuff and that still blew out. It is annoying but I just want to make sure it won't affect the engine in any negative way. I prefer a nice quick ride but I can put up with the pseudo Harley sound. I do not know what the chamber is called but it is connected to the pipes from the engine then to the mufflers. Help I am going nuts with this. Thanks, Mark '86 VR
  17. My neighbors husband past away recently and she asked me if I would help her price and sell her husbands tools. I have found new prices for most of the items but I do not really know how much to mark them down. Can anyone give me a general rule of thumb to use. All of he stuff is in great condition and 3 years old and up.
  18. Just was not my day today. Got a call from the owner of the repair shop where I dropped of my semi to have some work done. He said someone had broken into some of his trucks and also got into mine. Now on top of them busting out driver side glass to get in they stole my GPS,Laptop, truck manuals,TV vcr radio combo went through all my stuff and get this THEY TOOK ALL MY T-SHIRTS AND SOCKS BUT LEFT MY UNDIES NOW GO FIGURE. :rotfl::rotfl: Now I have to call dispatch and have my load picked up and deliver it to Wi. another week with out work and money DANG.
  19. Just wanted to give you all a heads up that I posted some 1st Gen stuff in the Classifieds.
  20. After re-organizing the garage...........I realize I used 75w90 Valvoline synthetic - Limited slip gear oil. Almost 3000 on the stuff and no problems what so ever. Should I change or just let it ride?
  21. I wanted to share with the members a product I purchased yesterday at a thrift store. While wandering around a thrift store yesterday I came across a table of cleaning products called "LA Totally Awesome". A bottle of the stuff was only a $1.25 so I thought what the heck and bought one. This morning I washed the shower doors with the stuff and it did an okay job so I thought I would try it on "Old Blue" my 96 RSTC. I started with the front tire whitewalls and I couldn't believe it. I sprayed the stuff on and the dirt and grime just ran off. I have found very few products that clean whitewalls to my satisfaction and with this stuff they came out perfect with no elbow grease. I then went to the back tires that were very dirty with grease, grime and exhaust carbon. I sprayed it on and used a toothbrush to lightly scrub. The tires looked like new in minutes. I then continued to wash the entire bike with the stuff and I have never seen it shine like it does now. I am talking showroom.. All for less then a $1.25. If you guys ever see this stuff give it a try. I am going back to the thrift store tomorrow and buying all they have left.
  22. Looking for any info on riding in the state. How are the road conditions on the road up to Mnt Washington. What are some other good senic touring routes and stuff to do. Thanks Nyjerry
  23. If you like ice cream and we all know that we do you owe it to yourself if your ever down Florida way to seek this brand out and try it. I know we all love our DQ but this stuff beats DQ hands down....... http://www.workingcow.com/ Me and Jean have two shops we make a special ride to. One is in Fernandina Beach FL right in the middle of the downtown area. We get our Waffle cones and hang out on a park bench watching all the strange tourists. The other one is a roadside stand on the north end of Flagler Beach. Ocean view as well as bikini view. Just downright good stuff....
  24. There is an article in the First Gen Tech Library on how to dry the desiccant on your first gens. Here is the link: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?p=9009#post9009 I just added a little tidbit of information to that article though that I received from another member here. He reported: "I came across the mention of refreshing the desiccant for the Class and the high cost for the stuff from Yamaha, and I wanted to mention that you can get it relatively cheap from any place that sells dryer for hearing aids. It is the same stuff and you can get a whole can of it for under $10." He told me that he found it at Walgreen's.
  25. While we're thanking people for stuff related to the International, I want to thank our dear friends Aussie Annie and Quickstep for sending stuff for the raffle. I got first pick. (First out of the "fish bowl" - wasn't even paying attention yet - they had to nudge me.) Got myself a nifty 'roo patch. Irene picked the red shirt. Thanks a million for sending 'em!
