  1. Maybe down where you live you use flies and meeps But Up in these neck of the woods its a different story as you see in this photo
  2. I just got this in an email. Pretty good story. Duct tape is our friend
  3. Anyone here read the story that Zimmerman, the mechanic, in Motorcycle Cruiser Magazine, had about the Harley Davidson corporate executives? Makes them sound like incompetent and corrupt are their bylaws.
  4. I know this has been talked about many times but I'm going to bring it up again. I think it's important. The 2nd day out on our 3 week vacation this summer I picked 2 nails in the rear tire on a Sunday. The only shop open was 150 miles away, so we plugged it and took off. When I finally got there I had two choices a Metzler or an Avon, I choose the Avon. I heard all the stories about the Metzler. The Yamaha dealer in Redding, Ca. was great, they got me in and out and took good care of me. Now the rest of the story. I am a Michelin Commander guy and the combination with the Avon never felt right. This past weekend I finally got a new Commander and pulled the rear wheel off to change the tires. Well to my suprise the Avon had cracks in the center of the tire and some small ones on the sidewall. Turns out the tire was 5 years old when I bought it. I was just lucky I took it off when I did. I never saw the cracks with the tire on the bike. Emailed Avon and they agreed it was dry rot, but they won't warranty any over 5 years old. Emailed the dealer I bought the tire from, Redding Yamaha Seadoo, and they are going to take care of me. Long story short, check those DOT codes before you put the tire on the bike.

  6. -- A bear got into an empty car, honked the horn and then sent it rolling 125 feet into a thicket, with the bear still inside, a Colorado family said. Seventeen-year-old Ben Story said he and his family were asleep in their Larkspur home, 30 miles south of Denver, when the bear managed to open the unlocked door of his 2008 Toyota Corolla early Friday and climbed inside. A peanut butter sandwich left on the back seat is probably what attracted the bear, Story said. It's not unusual for bears to open unlocked doors to cars and houses in search of food, said Tyler Baskfield, a spokesman for the Colorado Division of Wildlife. "It happens all the time,'' he said. "They're very smart.'' Once inside, the bear must have knocked the shifter on the automatic transmission into neutral, sending the car rolling backward down the inclined driveway and into the thicket, Story said. The door probably slammed shut when the car jolted to a stop, he said, trapping the bear inside. Neighbors had called 911, and deputies freed the bear by opening the door with a rope from a distance. It then ran into the woods. Story said he'll need a new car because the bear trashed the interior while apparently trying to find a way out. The bear also left what Story called "a present'' on the driver's seat. "A nice pile, actually,'' added his dad, Ralph. "Something to remember.'' Baskfield said such incidents are worrisome because they endanger the bear as well as the public. Wildlife managers trap and kill problem bears that learn to scavenge for human food and garbage. "Food was left in the car. It's troubling for us,'' he said. Had to be a relative!!!
  7. Does anyone else see anything wrong with this story? Police: Man Likely Killed Self After Westmoreland County Deer Crash
  8. According to Fox News "the chicken came before the egg". According to scientist who have spent huge amounts of money and time, there is a certain protein that is in a egg, but could not be there unless the chicken came first. So there you go, now you know the "Rest of the Story" Paul Harvey's way...:doh:I can now get a good nights sleep knowing the answer to this perplexing question....
  9. More than 65 years later... they return home. STORY
  10. I know that I do not post a lot, but all of your advise got me into a 2006 RSTD and I love it. This is not motorcycle related, but this was a bad accident that involved one of the associates that I worked with. This kid had a lot going for him, and it is a shame to see this happen. This kid had a great heart for work, and please pray for his family. His wife, 11 month old and himself were killed. Please pray for his sister as she is still in critical condition. Fatal Crash on I-35 By KGNS News Story Created: Jul 3, 2010 Story Updated: Jul 3, 2010 As most people are out and about on this July the Fourth weekend, traffic on our highways is always a concern. Already an accident on Interstate 35 claims the life of three people, it's our top story. Three are dead and another is in serious condition after an 18-wheeler veered from the southbound lane to the northbound lane and crushed an oncoming Toyota. The crash happened this morning at mile marker 44 just outside of Encinal. The Toyota was carrying two adults and two children. A 21 year old male was driving with a 21 year old female in the passenger seat, both died in the wreck as well as an 11 month old boy. A 13 year old girl was in the back and is in grave condition. She was transported to a San Antonio hospital. The driver of the semi, who was hauling sand, was unharmed in the collision. Officials have not released the names of the victims and whether or not they were Laredoans. Texas State troopers are still investigating. We'll bring you more details as they become available.
  11. I had a 08 Polaris Sportsman 500 atv. It was ok and did the job pushing snow, but it wasnt quite what I wanted. I decided to start pricing a side by side instead. So after some investigating and some research, the fun began. To make a long story short, I am the owner of a 09 Kawasaki Teryx. This thing is a blast. Oh and by the way, got a good deal to boot.....
  12. So after hearing everyone say how wonderful these shocks are, 2 months ago I held my nose and placed my order. I was all ready for the 'quick' change out. Old shock off in about 15 minutes (including time to rearrange crap in the garage and get bike up on jack) and as I am lining up the new shock to put it in its place I try to slide the bottom over the part on the swing arm where it is supposed to connect and what do I find? Hmmm. The U part of the bottom of the shock is too small!!! So. I take a deep breath and get the bolt through the top one, thinking I just don't have it lined up quite right or something and now that I've got it all in place (except for the bottom) I am pretty sure that it is just too small. Has any one else run into this while installing their shock? 7 Weeks and 700 bucks later (not to mention the already questionable customer service from the guy that I put my order in with - but that is a different story for a different day) - and this is what I have. I am NOT a happy camper. I hope I am just doing something wrong though... Any thoughts would be appreciated.
  13. At some point in the future, if your helmet stinks, it's damaged and should be replaced. It will be interesting to see if this makes it to market. I can see the application. Odd how widely diversified opinions are about helmets. One drop from the seat and it needs to be replaced... I've dropped mine from the second story and it don't look too bad. Which one are you? Here's the story.
  14. installed ......and picked up bike today.....definitely gone.....
  15. I found out about this story when I was in Utah for my Moms funeral. The guy scammed a lot of people and is getting everything that he deserves. BUT can you imagine owning all these cars. By the way, there is a venture there so it is related (sort-of) I really like the classic cars, but there are some beautiful bikes and the first gen looks like it is in good shape too. Anyone have some serious cash to spend on some new toys? Go to the pictures next to the story. http://www.ksl.com/?nid=148&sid=10046613
  16. Somewhere around the end of last summer, someone posted a link to a story a young rider wrote and documented with LOTS of pictures of a trip he took on his bike from down south all the way across the country on his old small crummy bike. (It was small, like an old 500) for the life of me I can't find it or a link to it now. All I can remember were the pictures of his old bike with the fenders tied on with wire, the engine oil running out everywhere, and the story he told of sleeping on the ground next to it. Anyone remember it?
  17. I have decided that i hate snow, and any temp under 60!!!! I say we make a Petition to tell the government to stop it now! We got 20 Inches of snow here In randolph nebraska with some story high drifts, good thing dad got that new expensive:mo money: snowblower!!!! How much did you all get?

Twas the night of Thanksgiving and out of the house Tiger Woods came a flyin', chased by his spouse. She wielded a nine iron and wasn't too merry, Cause a bimbo’s phone number was in his Blackberry. He’d been cheatin' on Elin, and the story progressed. Woman after woman stepped up and confessed. He’d been cheatin’ with Holly, and Jaimee, and Cori, With Joselyn, and Kalika. The world had the story. From the top of the Tour to the basement of blues, Tiger’s sad sordid tale was all over the news. With hostesses, waitresses, he had lots of sex, When not in their pants, he was sendin' them texts. Despite all his cryin’and beggin' and pleadin', Tiger’s wife went investin' -- a new home in Sweden.. And I heard her exclaim from her white Escalade, "If you’re gettin' laid then I’m gettin' paid." She’s not pouting, in fact, she is of jolly good cheer, Her prenup made Christmas come early this year. Phill
  19. The wife and I just got back from seeing "The Blind Side' movie. WOW! What a terrific movie. It has Sandra Bullock and Tim McGraw and a football theme, but it is a story of life and success - not sports. :thumbsup2:
  20. A while ago, we tried to do this and it was funny, so let's try again. I will start out with a beginning of a story and you all add to it. It could be fun. The VentureRider's group were planning a Meet & Eat in Nashville, Tennessee. Everyone in the area was coming to it, including Squidley and Lonna. The list of members who were coming to the event was growing bigger every day, until the big day came when the absolute worst thing could of happen, which was.............................................. Keep the story going now! Yama Mama:big-grin-emoticon:

(50 miles South of Yorkton ) saw a ball bouncing around kind of strangely in the lake and went to investigate. It turned out to be a flathead catfish who Had obviously tried to swallow a basketball which became stuck in its mouth!! The fish was totally exhausted from trying to dive, but unable to because the ball would always bring him back up to the surface. The guy tried numerous times to get the ball out, but was unsuccessful. He finally had his wife cut the ball in order to deflate it and release the hungry catfish. You probably wouldn't have believed this, if you hadn't seen the following pictures... Be kinder than necessary. 'Cause everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
