  1. I'm loving the new-to-me RSV, but I'm having an issue with storage for my sunglasses, garage door opener ect. I've considered taking the cassette out and turning that space in a storage compartment, but I would also like a set of Ponch's gauges. What are my other options?
  2. I was 20 miles from home today and we had an fine snow and ice storm roll through about 10:30am. I'm two weeks from finishing the scoot shed for winter storage. Glad I took that 250 mile ride last weekend. Winter is coming on quick.
  3. Quickstep cracked the fairing for me and removed cassette deck. So pulled said player out, and I lined the outer casing bingo, storage container:thumbsup2:
  4. Hi, Has anyone used one of these vacuum storage bags (or similar) for wintering a Venture? I have lost access to my usual winter storage, so am having to get creative. Thanks, Brian H.
  5. This project is finally getting off the ground.I put the back blade on the tractor and began landscaping for a small shed at the camp.I picked up the materials list for a 12x12 shed with 8 ft ceiling and a gabled shingled roof. This is not about building a garage or having more storage then needed. Plan and simple 2 scoots on the other side of the creek makes me happy. No electric,no windows,no heat just storage. I got a 3 day weekend coming up quess what I'll be doing over Labor Day Weekend?
  6. Just wanted to share a very positive experience I recently had with DOWCO, Inc. For over five years I've been using the Guardian EZ-Zip Motorcycle Cover to cover my RSV when we spend nights away from the garage. Well, a couple of weeks ago the zipper on the storage bag broke apart at the seam. I know that the cover has a lifetime warranty, but didn't think it would cover the bag. I went on their website to purchase a new storage bag, but did not see it for sale as a separate item. Using their contact form, I asked how I could purchase a replacement storage bag.... their reply: A free replacement is on it's way via US Mail. Three days later I had the new bag. The cover is high quality and has done a great job through years of service and looks none worse for the wear. The zippered rear really makes covering and uncovering the RSV an easy task. If I'm ever in the market for a new cover (unlikely, given the lifetime warranty) I would definitely check out DOWCO, Inc. They stand behind their quality products. http://www.dowcopowersports.com/products/motorcycle_covers/index.cfm I have no financial or other interest in this company... just sharing a story of good customer service.
  7. I don't like the look of the storage pouches on my VR, but I'm having a hard time thinking of anything to replace them with. Has anybody here installed any kind of different storage compartment where the pouches are?
  8. What are some of the things that you do after the winter storage before you take the bike out the frist time.
  9. Saw a car with one of these this weekend on my way to Canton Ga and got me to thinking. I saw another car with a similar one, different brand, but forgot the name. Anyone used anything like this as opposed to doing the harbor freight mc trailer mod. Just think of different ways to add storage for long trips as opposed to a trailer. Read some stuff on this board and other boards about bikes flipping over and such because of a trailer. http://www.stowaway2.com/ Sounds like the lowest class hitch accepted is class II. Wonder if one of those cage things would work better and then maybe a collapsable bag or if anything one of those plastic storage containers from like Lowe's. Just wondering. I would think with something like this there would be a constant strain on the frame, but curious to hear some thoughts.
  10. I thought this was kind of interesting for indoor storage. A guy in my local town has one for his HD. 11. i want to install a koso tach/temp. gauge in a 04 venture. i need to know the id in mm of the radiator hose can anybody help? my bike is in deep storage up here in mn.
  12. I have a 1997 rstd and was wondering if anyone had tried a mutazu db trunk and if they were happy or unhappy with the product. I don't want to cobble something together but need more storage and it would be much more comfortable for my wife. Any info would be appriciated. Thanks, Thumper1

    home

My oldest is home for the holidays. He has 30 days leave. The wife is already happier. All is good. It has been a rough year for us. Our daughter has abandoned her two boys here 3 yrs & 18 months and is pregnant again and living with said puke. Needless to say wife and I are stressed but hanging in there. Best thing is that he brought his new V-max home to leave it here for storage. Seems the Armys regs are becoming too strict for him to be able to ride it. So here it will sit {except for a occasional romp by yours truly}. YES!:thumbsup2:

    storage

I have a question that although it is not bike related i know someone out there can come up with the answer. While going thru Wisconsin for Thanksgiving I passed by a shop selling storage sheds. They had one that looked like a log cabin, but seemed to be out of plastice or ? It had r roll up door for access. I didn't get the manufacture and cannot find it on the web. Does anyone know who might build one, it would look great in the woods behind the house! Thanks
  15. I put the bike in storage about 6 weeks ago. I went to the storage this weekend to check the battery tender and start her up... I had to crank it a lot to get her to start and then I had to let her warm up a lot before she would respond to the throttle without sputtering and dying. Normally I just touch the start and she fires up and roars to life without a problem. any idea what is causing this? I dont want her to need major work in the spring. I did add stabil to the gas prior to storage and rode about 20 miles to get the fresh gas+stabil into the carbs.
  16. Can someone suggest the best place to buy leather storage bags for my 2006 RSTD?
  17. Asheville is almost here and I got work to do. The voyager kit is coming off the 99 this week. I'm putting the RSV on the lift for a little maintenance. I might as well remove the tank, fenders, etc for a paint job while it's down. I got scarlet (89) in storage at Skids for a while. Wonder what the storage fee will be?I need the room in the shed for the work on the 99. If this plan comes together you will see it in Asheville. It depends on how much pink it turns out to be. I ordered some new electrical test gear today for my tool kit. You never know when you might see a 05 wing smoking beside the road.Is that the sound of a venture firing up in Ivadale?
  18. First, Thanks Freebird !! You Rock!! I am looking for storage accessories for my 07 RSV, like tank bags or places to put stuff (no storage anywhere on bike) Back seat storage bags...I think you get the idea. Any help???? Thanks, Sky Pilot
  19. Does any one have a suggestion for the best wheel chock for the price that will make it easy for one person to tie a bike down. I think I need something that clamps on to the wheel and installs fairly easily into the trailer, it doesnt matter if it folds down flat ot not, as the trailer is going to be used only for storage and transport of my 1st gen. Thanks in advance for the advice everyone Brian:cool10:
  20. Long story short...I need to free up garage space this winter for my car. (Yes, I am planing ahead) I need some storage suggestions for my RSV. Has anyone used this? I am a little concerned as to how this will hold up to an Illinois winter. http://www.cycleshelter.com/ Do you have any other suggestions? Due to ordinance restrictions in my sub-division, I can't build another shed in my back yard, so it has to be a "movable structure" if it's in my yard. I appreciate any other suggestions.
  21. I just put my new (2000) venture in the garage and started transfering stuff from my 89 venture to find I have more stuff that storage. Does anyone know if there is something like the leather pouches in the front and back on the 1st generation for the 2nd generation bikes? I will need to replace the seat as my better half would like one of the pillow type thrones. Any ideas on where I can find replacement seats? Bob
  22. Spring time is here. The bike is back out. I've gone through three or four tanks of gas now, so the gas stabilizer is well flushed out of the tank, carbs, and all the lines. But I still have some remaining unused gas stabilizer in the bottle on the shelf. Is there anything I can do to keep this stuff from going bad before next winter as it sets in the bottle doing nothing? I don't want to find a bottle of gummy varnish that needs cleaned out next winter when it's storage time again. Should I put some gas in the bottle and top it off, so that there's no air in the bottle to break down the gas stabilizer? In short, I just want to know how to stabilize the gas stabilizer for the summer storage months.
  23. I was reading a article abouth the Yamaha midnight Venture...and when I checked by the Features...I noticed they said that it had a Small, dash-mounted storage compartment, that can hold up to 3 cassettes. Can someone tell me, were the dash mounted storage compartment is located on my Midnight Venture. Here is the article. http://www.totalmotorcycle.com/photos/2007models/2007models-Yamaha-RoyalStar-MidnightVenture.htm
  24. Has anyone ever seen or used one of these trailers? http://www.discount-trailers.com/motorcycle_trailer.htm I've been thinking about either building or buying a 5x10 trailer. I saw this and it interests me because it would fit through my basement door (60" width) for storage. My concerns with the design are the relatively narrow track which may be mitigated by the low center of gravity. Also, I don't know how sturdy the trailer would be without a full frame. Would the diamond plate flex? Just curious. DT
  25. I just bought 2 of these jackets. 1 XL for me and 1 WLG for the wife. For anyone looking for a great 3 season all weather jacket, I would highly recommend it. Honda of east Toledo has them at their ebay store for $239 which is the cheapest I could find it anywhere. They list for $299. New Enough has them for $269. I got ours from Honda of east Toledo and would recommend doing business with them. Here's a link and no I do not have any financial interest in them or Firstgear.-Jack http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/FIRSTGEAR-Kilimanjaro-4-0-Jacket-BK-GY-LGT_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6750QQihZ017QQitemZ270186931871QQtcZphoto Here's a rundown on the Jacket. The Kilimanjaro 4.0 jacket is the fourth generation in a jacket that has been a favorite among commuters and touring riders for years. The main things that set this jacket apart are the full-coverage 3/4 length design and the extensive storage built into the jacket. A 3/4 length style like this can provide great coverage from the elements, especially in cold weather. The main zipper of the jacket is “two way” meaning you zip it up normally from the bottom, but you can also raise a second zipper slider from the bottom which will help with comfort when sitting on a bike in the riding position (you’ll know what I’m trying to say when you try it out). The storage system on this jacket is fantastic. I count at least seven pockets, including large cargo storage pockets on front that have little organizing features built in as well. Plenty of room for all your touring needs. For cold weather, you get a removable full-sleeve thermal liner. The liner is a great design since it serves as a light casual jacket when removed. This dual-purpose capability is handy for those with limited packing space. Take the “View Larger Pictures” link above to see what I mean about the liner design. When the weather warms up, you can leave the liner out and use the zippered vents (two in front and one in back). For crash protection, you get a full set of CE approved armor. The armor is a combination of firm plastic covered in a soft foam material. It’s very substantial and should provide good protection in case of a fall. The back armor is a soft flexible “memory foam” type armor.
