  1. I'm sure this has been questioned to death, but I would like some advise. I tend to feel that nobody beats the quality of factory parts, but..... I need a clutch for my '89 VR. suggestions---all stock / Barnett Pressure plate / stock or aftermarket frictions? Any thoughts would be appreciated. I intend to do normal driving--no serious abuse. Only slight mods (from what I can tell)--cams / jets. Pretty stock setup. What should I expect to pay? I priced a whole new stock setup -$270.
  2. Probably a wasted request but what the hey... thought I'd give it a shot anywayz Maybe someone out there has a pair collecting dust somewhere ... either that or maybe decided to switch back to stock or another brand .... if you wanna find a new home for those Khromewerks, gimme a shout.
  3. Is there an adapter that mates a firestickII antenna to the stock 1st gen set up. The firestick antennas have a male stud attachment and so does the antenna mount on the bike........I dont want to do the marshal mod but would love to fix my stock setup. Either that or find a new to me antenna . The top part of mine broke off just above the large round pice where you do the adjustments for the cb section. Thanks in advance David
  4. I was wondering how tall the stock shield is? The former owner of my new to me 2004 Midnight Royal Star Venture cut the stock shield down and I get a lot of helmet air when I am riding. Yamaha Canada wants an outrageous price for one of theirs. I did look at a Tulsa screen and it looks like a good replacement. It is taller and wider, something I think my wife will appreciate. Chris in Red Deer, Alberta. Please check my website http://www.elementscifi.com
  5. Well, I thought I'd like my 86 lst Edition louder so I installed a brand new set of Macs, heck they could be Jardines for all I know as they look exactly alike and boy did I have a hard time finding them. But after riding it for a few months and about 1000 miles, I couldn't wait to get the thing quieted down to stock noise levels again but I had to wait for a set of the double down turn extensions. Finally obtained those from another member here so I could reinstall the stock mufflers. She is back to being quiet. If I want noisy, I can always take my Ultra out for a spin and I really don't mind a loud sounding Harley; two cylinders of 750 cc each sure do sound differently that four cylinders of 325 each. Maybe someone here will want these Macs, don't know in this economy. I will be posting them in the Classifieds here real soon. Silence is golden.
  6. Awhile back I ran into trouble by opening up the airboxs on my RSTD and I ended up putting it back to stock because there wasnt enough vacuum to work the diaphrams correctly. Last night I had the "bright Idea" to relocate the vacuum for the diaphrams out of the air box and into the rubber tubes leading to the plenum..... WOW was that a mistake. Now it seems I have TOO MUCH vacuum and the carbs dump to fast and cause the bike to bog really bad. SO it looks like back to stock once again.... theres got to be away to increase airflow while keeping the carbs working right. Anyone have any ideas (other than leave it the hell alone LOL)?
  7. I have a 2006 RSTD I just got it has a mustang seat I am looking to put a stock seat back on it. What other models will fit?
  8. Okay been doing A LOT of reading here and have a few questions about the HD mufflers. Below are two links to modified mufflers I found on Flea Bay. What does everyone here recommend? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280591168920&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280590683985&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT Stock HD mufflers? Stock HD mufflers, Modified/punched Link #1 (Max Performance) Link #2 (Super Flow) If recommending the Super Flow, What size baffle would work best for this bike? I want DEEPER and a little LOUDER, but NOT outrageously loud Would any of these require re jetting? Thanks in Advance. Tom
  9. Hi, I changed out the stock bulb with a PIA Extreme White headlight bulb. It is considerably brighter than the stock bulb. Anyone else ever use a PIA bulb in their headlight? I'd be curious to know how you liked it or the difference in other bulbs some people have used. Thank you in advance.
  10. I saw a replacement stock antenna last week on Ebay. Someone else finally outbid me at around $60. I was looking for a headset on Sierra electronics (http://www.sierra-mc.com/products.asp?id=145) and saw a stock replacement antenna for only $40. Looks good, is a bit taller than the old one.
  11. Hello everyone. I am new to the world of Venture motorcycles. I purchased a 2004 Midnight Venture and for the most part, I really enjoy the bike, I have one big problem though. If I am cruising in a high gear and try accelerating moderately or wide open the bike stumbles bad. The harder I lag the engine the worse it is. I replace the plugs and checked the resistance in the plug caps and coils. All was within specs. The bike only has 18k miles and appears to be well taken care of. It is stock including the exhaust. I am not a mechanic, but usually I can fix things myself. This problem has me completely stumped. I have also ran two tanks with seafoam. If anyone has any suggestions I sure would appreciate it.
  12. rlyons i ordered the greenboat led driving lights....and they don't fit...they are too small for my housings....i measured them and they are 4 1/4 in. diameter......the stock ones are 4 1/2....so how did you get them to fit.......they say par 36........
  13. Just a Sportster, bike for around town, a bit of commuting and short solo rides. Kept the Venture!! I'm going to have to do something about that rock hard stock seat though.

    Stock Horn.

Does any one have a set of stock horns they want to part with? I'm removing my steble and want to put both stocks back on.
  15. I have a discontinued piece of chrome cover that I want to put on ebay but I don't know what it's called to label it correctly. It's the piece that goes in place of the stock horn on the 2nd gen. Kinda upside "L" shaped?
  16. I amm getting ready to install two stebel magnum horns on my RSV.Do I need to disconnect the stock horns?By the way where is the second horn on an 07,I cannot find the second one. What gauge wiring do I use from the relay. What is the color of the wire on the stock that goes to the horn switch and do I tie to this wire?
  17. Thanks to fixitdude who sold me his stock mufflers, I removed my drilled out RK's yesterday and put the stock ones back on. It was a rare sunny warm day for this time of year and on the weekend to boot so I went out riding for the whole day. Took in the Harley demo days and rode a new Ultra Limited (103 cu in) ... great handling and decent power but, and I didn't notice this on previous Harley Ultra demos, the floorboards seemed uncomfortable and the shifter was up very high... had to literally lift my whole foot off the floorboard to shift. UGH ... didn't like that! It had the heated grips but since it was a warm day, my hands were getting kinda hot... I had no idea how to turn them off. Anyhoo, back to the mufflers ... gotta say it was a much more pleasurable ride with the stock pipes although I was much more aware of the engine whine but it's still no where near as bad as it was before I had the I-basket swap. Maybe it's just me but the bike seemed to have more power too! One thing is for sure .... it's got a lot more OOOMPH than that Ultra, especially when the revvs get up there!
  18. My hunt for a cheap great sounding exhaust led me to this site. I read the threads about putting the Road King mufflers on the Royal Stars and decided that's what i wanted to do. But while on a parts run to Advance Auto i was browsing the isles because all the guys were busy. When i came across the Thrush glass packs i had one of those i wonder if that would work moments. So i picked up a pair that are 2" ID and 24" long and two reducers that are 2" OD to 1 3/8" ID. When i got home i removed the trunks and then the stock mufflers. The glass packs are really close to the same diameter as the stock mufflers so i cut the mounting bracket off the stockers. I then welded the reducers into the glass packs. Now with the stock mounting brackets bolted to the bike i slid the glass packs onto the head pipes so i could mark where to weld the brackets to the glass packs. After everything was welded up i sprayed the welds with some red engine paint that i had and bolted them up to the bike. I decided the red had to go and wrapped them in black header wrap. I plan on adding some tips soon too. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HP7NazETQEM]YouTube - Royal Star Exhaust[/ame]
  19. Has anyone found a decent alternative to replace the stock rear shock on the RS Venture? This is the third one to go on me.
  20. I a missing the Stock Rear Seat BRACKET that holds the rear seat to the rear fender. Does anybody know where I can find this bracket?? I have a 1997 Royal Star Deluxe Thanks Pete ptynning@msn.com

    How to avoid a lemon

Thanks to my new found aquaintances, I have made the decision to buy a used RSV. I have located 3 or 4 in the local area, and they are all in the $7000 to $8000 range, with most being 2003 models. What do I look for, and what do I avoid? One of them has a Corbin seat that seems much harder than the stock one, and cost the original owner hundreds of dollars. Keep it, or have the dealer swap it for a stock one from one of the other bikes in the showroom? What's with the chat about clutch or gear whine? Something I need to know or worry about? I think you all get the idea. I do NOT ask that you buy the bike for me, but I know nothing about this model, and welcome any and all assistance. God bless you all, and thanks in advance.

    mufflers

Does anyone here have a set of stock mufflers that would fit 09 venture they would like to sell?
  23. I have a 08 Venture Royal Star. When I bought it I had the Baron's lowering kit transfered from our 99 to it. Since then I lowered the front of the bike by sliding the tree up. Is there a way to raise the back of the bike up without going all the way back to the stock height.
  24. I bought my Venture with Bubs, would prefer the stock setup. I really like listening to the music not the pipes. I have the baffles packed right now and greatly prefer the quiet. Bubs are the muffler pipe only and are in good shape no damage. The add on tips are flaking a bit. About 10,000 miles on them. I want stock exhaust mufflers, don't know exactly how we would trade yet, I still have a few trips planned for August. I'll post pics fairly soon Let me know if anyone is interested
  25. I am looking for a couple of items if anyone has them clogging up the garage.. I have a 2005 RSTD I am looking for stock handlebars, and stock driver and passenger seats.. Thanks Jim 860-334-5799 jime@ecomotorcompany.com
