  1. Sure would be nice if someone could build a wedge to fit between the top and bottom of the truck to give an extra 1 1/2 to 2" of clearence. Make it semi-permanent ,put a light or reflecter on it . Of course you would have to extend the truck latch. Whatcha think? I got a big helmet for my big head and I like to keep it locked up.It fits but not so good. Why can't the antennas be incorporated into some metal acessories that look good like bag gaurds or a truck rack? When I stay awake to long things sometimes make sense until I sleep on them. Feel free to shot em down . Idea men don't spell so good either , but I see we got alot of those here so I feel right at home and let em fly. We don't need no stinkin spellcheck.
  2. The New V-4 VFR1200F Sound like a 1st Gen?? Looks a lot like one too. Got to be some way to stick some bags on it!!! I'll bet "Ugly" can't stay close to it. But not to much info on it yet. Could be very interesting!!
  3. Anybody run into this? If I set the idle to 950-1000 with the adjuster screw, the RPMS are very slow to come back down after revving. When I ride, I shift and the RPMs stay prettty much where they were when I pulled in the clutch. Running good otherwise.
  4. cant get the map and the weather to stay in signature Thanks Ralph
  5. My turn signals seem to have developed a problem, or have had it and I just didn't realize it. They flash fine and all, but only when I hold the switch over. When I release it, they don't stay on, they cancel. It should stay flashing until the button is pushed in instead of to the side, correct? Any ideas on where to start searching?
  6. So the real question here is: Would they be an interest in Riders monitoring a specific CB channel while riding that would allow riders traveling in different areas of the country to make quick, easy contact? It could be know as the VR channel by members. If there already is a desiginated channel, I appolize for not knowing. I ask because, I love to meet new Riders when I travel and I am planning my 4 week trip East for the month of September and don't want to miss meeting many of the members I have enjoyed on this site. Just wondering if there is a CB channel the VR riders frequent during travels. Years ago motorcycles would monitor channel 27 to communicate when traveling in different directions. I don't travel Interstates very often so I stay away from ch.19. I have tried to raise several motorcycle on channel 27, with no luck, guess ch.27 is old school and not monitored much any more. Please respond, I hate to miss a good place to eat, stay or just kick the tires with someone new.
  7. We are going with friends to Savannah in October and were wanting to know if there is anywhere reasonable to stay in the Historic District. We would love to be close to the water. Any helpful suggestions on where to stay and what to do and see would be most welcome. The Lady and Sons is a must, that I know. Thanks for helping.
  8. The door on the cassette deck popped open and now won't stay closed. Short of using duct tape to keep it closed, can anyone tell me how it latches and what I can check?
  9. Looks like the weather is going to be nice for the next few days in the Lake George area, I think the wife and I are going to head up for a few days, anyone know of any nice places to stay at for $100 a nite or less, less is better. Also any nice places to eat or see. Thanks for any help. Craig
  10. While we were on holidays this week our daughter was going to stay with one of our best friends. We just recieved this email. At Andy's right now, turns out we(I) couldn't've picked a worse time to visit. They're suffering something(understatement) of a family crisis. At something like 6:00-30 some drunk driver crossed the center line and killed three family members- I don't know all the names, but it sounds like an Aunt Rita, a grandmother, and an uncle. Two were killed on impact and the uncle died in hospital. I didn't think I should call at midnight, and I don't think I could've stung the words together anyways. Emotions are... running high, to say the least. Love, and stay safe for the love of God Shyrstyne End: cry Begin: rant
  11. Does anyone know if there is a campground in Marble Falls...im trying to get there on the 3rd ,but i can only stay a day or two?
  12. Hi Looks like we may FINALLY get at least a short break in the weather so I'm planning a solo three day trip that will take me from New Brunswick, through Maine and New Hampshire, into Vermont (July 09). I expect to stay overnight in the Barre/Montpelier/Burlington area, take a ferry across Lake Champlain, circle through the Adirondacks and stay the second night (July 10) in the North Conway area. Return to NB via Hwy 1. This is my tentative route: Trip I don't know much about that part of Vermont so I was wondering if someone can recommend a reasonably economical place to stay between Barre and Burlington? I'll be rolling in fairly late so I want to make arrangements before I go. Also looking for restaurant recommendations and alternate routes that might be worthwhile. I can't really extend the total distance because of time limitations. Thanks Ross
  13. planning on trip around lake superior was wondering if anyone has made the trip and if you have any suggestions on what to see and where to stay etc.
  14. When I turn the signal on (seems like mostly left signal) and start downshifting, I notice that the signal is off before making turn. If at a stop light then I just turn them back on, but when I stop (or slow down) and it happens before I turn, then I fumble and try to turn them back on. Gives me a bad feeling that someone's going to plow into me. Is this a time thing (seems like they stay on until after I turn no matter how long I'm at a light) or something about downshifting? Any ideas? Thanks!
  15. We are planning a four day ride around Lake Michigan. Looking for anyone else interested in going or people that can recommend some good routes. The plan is to leave on June 26 in the morning and get to Mackinaw sometime that evening. Stay there for Saturday and then head to the U.P. and over to Wisc.. Stay somewhere in Wisc. sunday nite and finish the trip on monday. We live near Joliet Illinois. Let me know if you would like to join us somewhere along the trip or if you have suggestions on routes. Thnx. Kevin and Deb

  17. I bought a pair of these riding pant cause they were low priced ie:$50.00 and had alot of features. Like hip pads, knee pads, quilted removable liner, zipper for jacket etc. These pants are warm down to the 30s and lower with the liner in. The knee pads don't stay put well thou. right side stays for me left one doesn't want to stay over the kneecap. Material looks and feels good has extra heaver mesh on skid zones. Reflective piping is very bright and it had ankle zippers to help getting them off and on. All and all these are a good part time cold weather MC pant. They are bulky and alot of the stitching of little thinks like the liner stays and belt straps are weak. One belt side has broke already, I guess I can sew it back on. For the money, I think they are worth looking at if you just want a pair of warm and padded pair of waterproof pants in your collection of gear. That you can wear every now and then when its nasty out. I don't know how long the will last. But they are very comfy except for the knee pad moving around on you.....
  18. I need to get rid of some parts that have been sitting around in my garage since July. These parts are for the 2nd Gen's. and they are the folling: Two saddle bags, Rear tire(including rim), Rear Axle and nut, Disk Rear Brake, Caliper Assy for the Rear. Saddle bag guards, Stay for muffler, Stay for muffler (small) As you can guess they are the result of triking my bike. Any one interested let me know and I'll send you pictures of the article you want. I have the price of what these things cost new, but I know I'll never come close to those prices. Make me an offer that I can take to the bank. I need a "bail out"! Actually I need the room in my garage back. Ken
  19. For those of you that live in and around this area there are two events you might be interested in. MOTO 400 is sponsoring Triumph Days, both at the store in Dawsonville, and at T.W.O. in Suches, where you can test-ride any of the new Triumphs: http://www.moto400.com/custompage.asp?pg=upcoming5 Additionally, there's a grand get-together of BMW Riders in Hiawasse. The event is actually free and open to the public during the daytime, with a camping fee should you decide to stay over: http://www.bmwmoga.info/2009gmr/ There's a good chance I'll see you at one, if not both, events, but I'll probably be on the V-Star, so you might not recognize me... If you make it to either event, give me a call on my cell at 678-480-8569, and we'll see if there's a way to hook-up. TERRY
  20. I have a 08 venture. The frunt blinker lights stay on all the time like clerance lights. Do the back ones stay on like that or did some thing hapen when I hooked up my driving lights? I checked the wires they are hooked up the same as they were. I don.t rember if the back lights were on all the time or not. Have only had the bike 2 weeks. Memery isn't that good. Thanks

  22. during fork seal replacement.when you begin to reinstall all the tiny parts that go into the lower leg of the fork and onto the dampening rod, what is the secret to make sure all the little parts stay where they belong while trying to put the lower section on?
  23. I found a half can of lubriplate 3000 (3% moly) in the shop. Any reason it wouldn't be good enough for drive shafts??? Hate to toss anything if its got any good to it. And I've seen this stuff in a covered but not sealed environment stay wet for 2 years.
  24. Had a buddy sale a 2000 honda 1100 tourer yesterday, as part of the deal he took a 1978 wing as trade. the radio does not work, no rear breaks, 75,000 miles, and a few other probems. He wanted to know if I would be interested in it for a few hundred bucks. Don't know much about the old wing, so give me your thoughts:think:. Should I consider it, or just stay focused on getting back into a RSV. Oh my the way I didn't mention I have a 77 kz1000 in the garage with only 11,000 mile on it that just needs a battery.
  25. My wife and I are planning a trip to Charleston and Savannah in May with another couple. I'm seeking advice on things to see and do and places stay and eat. Thanks, Dennis
