  1. Months back, a lighting guy installed a Signal Dynamics module and LED's on my 2006 RSTD in my rear signal lights to make the Run/Turn/Brake. Really bright and works perfect. Last week he installed the same module & LED's in my 2009 Venture and gets different results. When you hit either turn signal, the other side lights up bright as a brake. When you turn off the turn signal, both lights stay on brake for 10 seconds then go back to run. Also, when you press the brake, and let go, the brake lights stay on for same 10 seconds then go back to run. Signal Dynamics says it's due to the 4 way flasher unit of the Venture and has no cure. The RSTD does not have 4 way flashers. The tail light (a 100 light LED) operates correctly. He is going to try a Badlands module to see if he gets different results. But if it's due to the hazzards, may hit same snag. Anyone else hit this snag. Basically when you trip the turn or brake, the brake lights stay on for 10 seconds after you release. This could fool a following bike into thinking you are riding brakes or just stupid. Probably the latter. Thanks, Mike G in SC
  2. Got up this morning for a 300 mile ride & for the first time ever the bike wouldn't stay running. It started but just barely would spit & sputter enough to stay running for 20 seconds or so. If I touched the throttle or took it off full choke it died. At least 2 cylinders were firing as I had exhaust out of both pipes but was just barely chugging. Last rode it a week ago & ran fine. So then I dumped some Seafoam & new gas in. After many more tries I was just about to give up the day thinking maybe I had some bad plugs, then on about the 30th start, it chugged for about 5 seconds, then POP (an audible pop or maybe backfire), but immediately it was idling normal. Shut if off & it fired right back up. Rode all day, many stops, no further problems. Any idea what was stuck, fouled, etc? I'm thinking I should check or fix something, but what? I'd like to know so if it ever happens while 1000 miles from home I'll have a clue.
  3. Stay tuned! http://www.wired.com/epicenter/2010/09/internet-explorer-9-beta-drops-its-lean-fast-and-modern/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+wired%2Findex+%28Wired%3A+Index+3+%28Top+Stories+2%29%29
  4. That's Hurricane Earl. I hope this thing doesn't have a direct hit here. Worst part is they aren't calling for this to be less then a cat 4 when it gets close. Local news was out at Rodanthe and the folks that are vacationing are saying they aren't leaving. Kinda stupid. Once the storm gets here hwy 12 will be gone, after that they are stuck. That's really no place to stay when something like this comes through. Guess they never saw any of the news during any of our other hurricanes or nor'easters. I'm not a big fan of these things, the winds scare me. Too many trees near us. During Isabel we couldn't get out till the fire dept chain sawed it's way in to us. Plus this thing is gonna be here at night. I hate that even more you can't see anything that's happening, not that I want to see it. Well hope everyone stays safe during this. Good news is Fiona looks like she'll stay away. Of course then the next one may be forming by then. Margaret
  5. Just wanted to thank everyone for putting up with me this year. My chat buddies for keeping me laughing and company at night. The folks who sent PM's and emails as well. The folks who called just to check up on me. Rocket called every week when he could. ADC (Arthur) for helping me out when I had the water leak. Ruffy and Jean for letting me stay at their place for the Florida meet. Sledgehammer and Rene for letting me visit just for the heck of it as well as the times we all showed up to go to a meet. Blackjack and Janice for letting me stay when picking up and dropping off Muffin in June, as well as taking care of the SS bike while he was gone. Grey Ghost for all the helpful info. The Sleeperhawk's for everything this year. Now for the one person who got stuck with me all year, Riderduke. I spent plenty of weekends at his house with his wife, daughter and David. The fact that Felicia didn't mind me riding with him to all the meets. Also for letting him come down and fix my electrical problem this past year. Can't thank them enough and there are no words to express how much it meant to me. Oh and if you really miss me too much David I'm sure Jeff would loan me to you.:crackup: Now I don't want to get too mushy, but it was a great blessing when Jeff signed up on this site. The friends we've made are truly more like family. Without this bunch this year would have dragged on and been very difficult to get through. Oh and I wasn't that much trouble now was I? So big hugs and kisses to all Margaret
  6. I would like to use the front fork lock position on my ignition switch from time to time and have noticed that when I do the blinker lights come on and stay on. They dont blink they just come on. What's up with that?
  7. I have a first gen and it won't stay running. If I put a few drops of gas in carbs and it will burn that off and wont stay running. I have ordered a fuel pump off ebay. It's like the fuel is getting cut off before it reaches the carbs. I pulled the fuel line off at the carb and turned the key and fuel is pumping but when it starts it quickly dies after the drops pf gas that i put in carbs burns off. uggg very fustrated
  8. Trying to finalize a place to stay - or at least get a general idea of what I am looking at and it seems like almost anything along I-90 in MT is 100+?!?!!? Anyone have any suggestions on somewhere reasonably priced to stay? I have checked some campgrounds out, and even several of those want anywhere from 30 to 50 /night FOR A TENT campsite?! Sheesh. Since I'll be doing 1800 miles in a very short amount of time, I'd sort of like to have something softer than a picnic table at a rest area... I'm open to suggestions. I saw a thread a while back on travel hammocks which looked pretty awesome, but I certainly did not have time to order it and have it arrive in time. Suggestions are welcome. Thanks in advance!
  9. Well Folks, I could not wait on Yamaha...I absolutely loved my Midnight RSV BUT I wanted fuel injection and a few other updates so I had no choice but switch my rides. I purchased a 2010 Level 3 GoldWing 1800 with alot of accessories. I am VERY pleased with it and yes I knew I would need to get use to the foot and leg position but it is working out better than expected. Ill always stay on this site and ALWAYS be here to help VentureRiders with ANY problems and a place to stay while traveling thru. Ive learned alot about the Ventures and if Im off I will be able to assist anyone. I sold my Midnight RSV to a darn nice guy in Louisiana,Ill let him Identify IF he wants..He doesnt post much and I feel its his to post if he wants...I can say for the Big Guy that I am I had a tear in my eye when he drove away on it! Now here are a few pictures..
  10. My wife and I are planning our 2011 summer vacation. We going out to ride the Dragon and other sites while we are there. So where is a good place to stay? We are leaving from Northern WI. Any good routes to get there. We will have a gps also. Just looking for some good info to make it a little easier. Thanks Rich
  11. Wife and I are planning a ride through the Catskills soon. Anyone have some tips for where to go,what see, where to stay?
  12. For me , knowing, I'd didn't have to worry about money, or time, say a year off with pay. I head straight up, into Canada, and ride as much north as I can, before it turned cold again. Visit friends in upstate new york, and stay in every KOA campground, throught the U.S. & Canada I'd be one happy Camper, But for now, Its just a:draming:
  13. I am extending the use of our 'cottage' behind our home, on our two acres in Galt, California. It is currently unoccupied. There are two rooms, 1 has a double size bed and the other a single size bed. Plus, the futon in the living room folds down to a queen size bed. There is a small kitchen. And of course, a bathroom with bathtub and shower. BIll and I would love to have any one here on the site stay the night to rest your head or even stay the weekend, if you would like. Were 30 miles south of Sacramento. Feel free to contact Sherry or Bill Jarrett my email is byfaithigo@sbcglobal.net and Bill can be reached at hydrowillie@hotmail.com. we check our emails go right to our blackberry. You can give us advance notice, or even just check on short notice. We would love to share what we have with this venture rider family.
  14. We plan a trip in the first weekend of June to Windsor. Decided to stay over the night, I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for places to stay and, of course, eat. We are going to Willistead Park for Art in the Park. Thanks folks!!

  16. If all goes well in the morning I will trade my RSV for a Valkyrie. The Valk is 7K and they are paying off the 7.7K that I owe so I figure I'm getting 14.7 for the RSV. This will be my 4th Valkyrie...I can't seem to stay away from them. Maybe I'll still go to Jax next weekend for the M&E...if Hondas are allowed.
  17. I plan on leaving Wednesday Morning, and heading south through IL. I hope to meet DynoDon for lunch, and stay somewhere south of Champaign by dark that night. Hope to get somewhere near Memphis by Thursday night, and get to the Loozeeaner Meet and Wrench by Friday night. We'll see how the :snow:weather cooperates:cold:. If I fall a little short, I've got an offer from wes0778 to stay in Jackson, and head to the M&W Saturday morning. After the M&W, I want to get to Cocoa Beach by Monday night to see a Delta IV rocket launch. Tuesday I'll head up to Daytona to buy a t-shirt that says I was there and probably go camp out at the ABATE campground. From there I hope to head up the east coast for a few more states I've never been in, and head home from there. Anyone else on here go to Bike Week??? I'll be updating this thread as things progress. Later, Scooter Bob Oh ya, I've got to swing by Milwaukee and pick up Shari along the way.
  18. This summer, during last part of June or Early July, my wife and I are considering trailering the bike to Colorado, staying in a cabin or condo, and riding around to see stuff. We are looking at the areas around Estes Park/Rocky Mt Nat Park/Boulder for places to stay for a week or so. Anyone know of good reasonably priced places to stay and things to do? We are recent empty nesters and are looking forward to just the two of us. The boys and I can go some other time. Iowa Guy
  19. I took out my new tires for a spin. Big difference from the stock Bridgestones. Seemed like the bike was much easier to keep a straight line before. Now I find my self struggling to stay in the lane? Is that a pressure thing or just cause they new? I'm running 38 front and 42 rear.
  20. Earth quakes Tidal Waves What is going on Hey Annie stay away from the ocean.
  21. Welcome to the family and we hope you stick around. Things got a bit screwy when he signed up and he didn't seem to get a welcome. He's over in Afghanistan with Jeff. He's in the Army. That's how he found us. He's getting out in July and I understand he's headed back to Jax Florida. He has an 05 Warrior waiting for him. So now that I've let you know something about him maybe we can get him to stay. OH Ruffy he doesn't live too far from you from what Jeff said. You guys can figure it out though. Oh also can someone else tell him I'm not that scary. The person I married keeps telling him I am. Margaret
  22. Just got thru watching a recording of the Olympic Opening from last night. Lasted too late for this old guy. Anyway I was blown away by the production... The only thing I missed was the lightening of the torch. Did anyone here stay up to see if they got the glitch fixed? My recording chopped off the end due to the time over run. What ever happened, great job CANADA....:thumbsup2:
  23. It's time for me to plan our annual road trip. Our oldest son has picked Kentucky. We will be leaving from Iowa, going interstate through Illinois, Indiana, then starting in Louisville, KY and riding the state for a week. We like to ride on quiet roads rather than 4 lanes. We've never been there so I'm asking for help on roads that are really scenic rides. Also, if there is any places that are "must see's". We will be moteling it, instead of camping this time. We tend to stay in small towns (pop 250-2,000)and stay away from large city's. It's always fun to check in to a local motel and walk to the nearest pub/diner, so if anyone has any suggestions I would sure appreciate it. Thanks for any input... Deb & Gary
  24. Hello, having a great time on my new 07 RSMV. I use to ride a 920 Virago with back rest and saddle bags. My wife finds the new bike so comfortable that she is having a hard time to stay awake. Does anyone else have this problem? If so have they been able to stay seated upright?
