  1. I just visited the site to get info on Star Touring for someone else on here. http://www.starmotorcycles.com/star/products/modelhome/586/0/home.aspx While I was there, I took a look at the Royal Star line up, just for laughs. They offered an on line poll about their site, so I took it, and let them know what I wasn't happy about. Here's the things I put in the comment boxes. Trying to find info on 2011 Royal Star Venture models. Instead I see you're still advertising 09 models! What's coming in 2011 for the Venture??? Found info quickly I just wasn't happy with what I found out about the Venture model line. Will the venture be around in 2011, and will it be the same as my 2005, or a new bike with FI and more power? Check it out, and give Mama Yama a piece of your mind! Later, Scooter Bob
  2. I'm looking to trade my 07 RSTD for a Road Star. I need something a tad bit smaller and lighter. What do you think my chances are to find someone or a dealer that would swap a used Road Star for my RSTD? I just posted it on eBay to try and sell it, but it would ne nice to trade straight up. Your thoughts? Thanks Mark:fingers-crossed-emo
  3. I traded my 07 RSTD for a 07 Road Star Silverado Midnight. It was in like new condition with 7200 miles. The "ole" girl served me well but it was just a little hefty for me. The Road Star is just perfect. I can firmly plant both feet on the ground and it's a 100 PBS lighter. This bike has loads of torque and when you shift it in 5th it actually feels like an overdrive. The RPM's drop like a rock and you can cruise all day at 70 no problem. It is not as comfy for my wife, but she never rode that much with me. It's what makes you happy right! Mark:bagpipes-emoticon:
  4. I just read the tech section in my October issue of Motorcycle Cruiser. A reader wrote in to ask Mark Zimmerman in the Shop Talk section about a Royal Star that has a whine in the rear end. The reader talked about proper shimming and all of his experience. Mr Zimmerman's response was "I'm not aware of any specific or generic problems with the Royal Star's final drive..... I did a quick internet search and nothing jumped out at me, so if you have info to the contrary please let me know so I can find out what's going on." I emailed him instantly, gave him a list of web sites to investigate , including Venturerider.org, If you have any information for Mr. Zimmerman reguarding a whine in a Royal Star I think he deserves an email at zimmemr@aol.com. Lets see if he can make good on his promise to "find out what's going on."
  5. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ryl6d2ucjE0]YouTube- Yamaha Royal star Venture (Custom)[/ame] Some guys winter project I came across, totally different RSV. He said it was tough getting parts, I can see why!
  6. The wife and I on separate bikes did 1200+ miles round trip for Star Days this year. Our first Star Days and we had a great time. Lots of nice people, the event was well organized, although the banquet ran WAY long and we left early to get a good spot by the pool for late night talk. We did some exploring on Wednesday and went up Signal Mountain. All the fun roads of Lookout mountain without all the tourist traffic. Went up Route 8/127, and that was fun, but the GPS found what the locals call the "W's". Actually called W road. Look it up on Google. All the thrills of the Dragon without the crazy crotch rockets, but a lot shorter. Sticky Fingers BBQ got our vote for best food of the trip, the dry rub ribs were the best I have ever had. The Tennessee Railroad Museum was a fun time, the short train ride includes a lot of history and you can run around the train, hang out on the very back of the cars outside or stick your head out the window without getting yelled at! Just don't hang out too far through the tunnel, only 15" of clearance! Best $15 we spent on the vacation. Highly recommended. Others in our group enjoyed the aquarium, and several went to the actual Dragon. Only downside was it was HOT HOT HOT. but then it is the South in July, what do you expect? We found the locals to be helpful and friendly, and plan to visit Chattanooga again soon, maybe outside of the main tourist season and when it is cooler! Hope everyone made it there and back OK.
  7. Who will be at Star Days this year 2010 Chattanooga Tennessee? Diane and I will be there, were staying at the Cho-Chooooooo:sun: Check out the Star Days 2010 calendar. http://venturerider.org/forum/calendar. Star Days http://www.startouring.org/ http://www.stardays.org/
  8. Greetings from Nebraska: Our neighbor owns a 1999 Royal Star. He kept it but started riding a 98 Harley Ultra. In the past two years the Harley has needed a new engine and Tranny and has been in the shop more than on the road. Rode with him on a three hundred mile ride today, the Harley only make it about 100 miles before more tranny trouble arose. He had to call for a truck and trailer. I lover my 2005 RSTD more everytime I ride it!!!!! Good thing he kept his Yamaha, looks like he is going to need it to finish out the riding season. Ride safe everyone...
  9. There have been a bunch of threads lately as to the best headlight for our bikes. Those that have the SilverStar Ultra feel it is the best, those with HID feel it is the best, most of us feel that whatever we have is the best. What I would like for some of us to try to accomplish, is a side by side by side by...... comparison of the different headlights available to us. There would be a Silver Star, Silver Star ultra, PIAA, And several different brands of HID, with maybe a stock thrown in for fun. The test could be held at a MD or possibly even a M&E that ran late enough. Before the test every one would need to make sure that all of the lights are aimed to the same point. The bikes would have to be lined up across a dark road and each take turns turning on their head light. It would have to be judged by everyone as to best illumination in both hi and low beam, beam patterns and even by someone a few hundred yards down the road looking back to see which was most visible and or was blinding oncoming drivers. That person down the road may even have a photographic light meter to get some actual non-subjective data. This way it will be as scientific as possible. Well at least as scientific as we can be that late in the day. What else needs to be added to this and how can we pull this off? This thread is not for the "I like what I have posts" but to try to determine what really works without 1 person having to go out and buy all of the systems to test.
  10. Just wondering anyone had any power issues while pulling a trailer in high altitude? I will be riding 2 up with the trailer some spots over 8k ft up to almost 10 k. 96 Royal Star has less hp than the newer ones. Thinking premium gas wouldn't hurt either., usually just run regular Kregg

  12. Hello folks. I saw this listed on Ebay today and thought maybe someone on our site may be interested. Its a 1983 Venture that looks like it could be new. Just look under Royal Star. It was listed on 6/28. I tried to put a link to the page but for some reason it didn't work. Sorry

  21. Thanks again for the input on a trunk rack. I'm getting one. Now, what about bags for it. Had a trunk rack bag on my GW 1500 way back when but can't remember the brand. I'm looking at the Star model but wonder if anyone has something they like better. Any input appreciated.
  22. I'm brand new to the fourm so I thought I would post a quick note to introduce myself. My name is Kyle and I'm from the Richmond, IN area. I ride a red/white Royal Star XVZ13A. I've been riding my Royal Star (named Tanto, cause he looks like an Indian, but he's not!) for about a year now and I can't believe I've never found this site before. I'm still pretty new to the whole moorcycle community (I've been riding for about 5 years, but I've never been involved in any clubs, charity rides, poker runs etc..) and I have lots of questions, but I'll try to pace myself so I don't annoy you guys too much. I would post a picture of Tanto, but I don't have a clue how that would work. So anyway I just wanted to let you guys know a little about me. I hope to see you around! --Kyle
  23. Hi all, I'm looking at a 2008 Venture for 10,900. Has 3,600 miles so it looks brand new. I borrowed a friend 97 Royal Star and rode it around. The ride is great and it handles nice, but the performance is very sluggish. I'm pretty sure his bike is WAY out of tune though. I currently ride a Honda VT1100C2 Sabre twin. I'd kind of like the same passing ability I have now along with the smoooooth ride the yahama has Question is, does any one know the 1/4 mile time and top crusing speed for the 2008 Venture? I don't need a hot rod but I need something that will pull better than the friends Royal Star. Thanks Rich
  24. Hi guys. I have a 2005 Royal Star Tour Deluxe and have just ordered the Complete Bub 4 into 2 exhaust system for it. This system replaces the head pipes as well as the slip-ons. Bub doesn't say anything about re-jetting, but my dealership has told me that I don't need to re-jet unless i change the head pipes, which I will be doing. Because of what my dealership said, I contacted the guys at Baron, and they tell me that I shsouldn't have to re-jet unless I change the intake. I told them that the only change that I planned to make to the intake was to use K&N elements. They told me that even with the change of elements along with changing the whole exhaust, they still would not recommend re-jetting. Also, I can't seem to find a jet kit out there for a 2005 Royal Star Tour Deluxe anyway. I am a little un-easy with the conficting information. I trust the guys at Baron because they have alot of experience with the Royal Star, but at the same time, I want to be sure my mistress doesn't burn up from running to lean. Do any of you guys have a 2005 or newer RSTD with the Complete Bub 4 into 2 system? If so, what did you do or what has your experience been. Regards, Tony 2005 Royal Star Tour Deluxe
  25. Will the full size engine guards from a Road Star fit a 96 Royal Star? Thought I'd ask, I know someone selling the guards really cheap. Thanks, Jon
