I wanted to loosen my fairing vents up since one was frozen, and two were hard to close/open. So I decided to spray some silicon on them, and what a mistake. They started to discolor almost instantly, and washing it off did not help. I was careful not to get any on the painted surfaces, but not my black vents have lightened in sections to a dull gray. Whats also frustrating is that it did not even loosen them up. So the moral of the story is not to use spray silicon on your plastic parts that are visible. BTW- my vents are so stuck or tight that I dare not try to close them with force for fear of them breaking. What is the best way to lube them up?

When you have to ride in the rain, do you wear any type of covers for your shoes/boots, or just a spray on waterproofing?

Down here in Mickey Mouse land, we have a problem with humidity. As such, sometimes when I leave for work at o dark thirty in the morning, I hit areas on the road where my windshield goes completely white and is fogged over. Any ideas or suggestions? I do wax it with Honda spray polish but that does not seem the make any difference. Also, I don't have a windshield vent like some bikes I have seen.

I pick up the RSV this Friday -- this is my 6th bike so I know "generally" what to look for and go over. Do you have any specific hints for the RSV? I really start at a very base-line level of -- IF THE FRONT BRAKE FLUID DOESN'T SPRAY ALL OVER THE FENDER then things are pretty good! (Yup, actually happened to me on a purchase day!) Many thnx, DREBBIN

The handlebar starter button seems slow to pop back out when I release it. Is that normal or can I spray some sort of electric contact cleaner on the button to free it up? Thanks
