  1. treecol

    new pipes!!!

[ame] [/ame] I hope the link works as I really don't know what I'm doing!!! Got these as a temporary sound fix!!! Really pleased with easy fitment & sound till my Bub's arrive. Highway Hawk universal slip ons.
  2. Got a bit fed up waiting for the Bub's - they'll be 5 weeks at least. So went to my local chrome shop. These are Highway Hawk universal slip ons. They do them longer too, but as he had these in stock, I thought for the price, £110, I'd give it a go. The bracket that comes with them is long & adjustable, so that bit was easy, & they just slipped on. I love the sound! I will post a video on you tube of a drive by as soon as the rain stops. I'll also try to post a video in the right section. Meanwhile here's some pics. http://i1156.photobucket.com/albums/p567/treecol/002-1.jpg http://i1156.photobucket.com/albums/p567/treecol/001-3.jpg
  3. suzuki gsx 600 ???, on gas tank shutoff there are off, pri, on, res, what does pri stand for. someone told kid next door it was for city use, on is for the highway, doesn't sound right to me.
  4. Does anyone have after market mufflers on their trike.Tryed for two hrs to put Rk on mine ,would not slide on header far enough. I want a little more sound but not real loud.
  5. I took my 89 into mechanic. He replaced the rear bearing. Now afterward, it doesn't sound the same. There is a grinding rumbling sound that is not noticeably until the bike is about 45 mph or if you let off the throttle suddenly and brake with the engine. I took it back. He double checked everything and said it was okay. I don't know, whadda ya think? Iowa guy
  6. In a small group ride, I rode behind a set of Twin Harleys, His and Hers. They were exact duplicates right down to the last rivit....beautiful bikes. The colors were the only difference. Every accessory added they had to pay twice. They even sound the same. That was all I hear for the next 8 hours of riding. The Thundering of the Famous Harley. I could not even enjoy the throaty sound of my 91 VR, when hitting my throttle for the Harley Thunder drowned my 91VR out to liken an electric bike. Next time, I'll lead and show them what progressive springs are all about...
  7. Here we go again..............come as you are, or come fully dressed...we dont care as long as you come.....(hmmm, that didnt sound so good).....Lets try it again. Please arrive in chat safely....ok, better???
  8. Is it normal to hear ,what sounds like a chain sound, when i compress the clutch lever at a stop. Maybe that sound is there everytime i pull the lever but i only notice it when i am stopped. Is there an adjustment for the cam chain or whatever chain is inside the engine. Just want to make sure that it wont be an issue before my cross country trip. Al
  9. I recently just finished my redo of my 1987 Venture Royale and took my first road trip on it to St.Mary's Ga from Atlanta and back I was pleased with the overall look and performance but was somewhat dissappointed in the original Audio radio/CB. intercome hair lip audio sound. I am contemplating ripping the orginal out and replacing it with some current technology. Does anyone have some advice on components and installation?
  10. I got this weird rattling sound when I pull in the clutch lever on my Wing.... Listen carefully. Ya, I know, it's a "whiner" but mostly only noticable when idling and apparently fairly normal for a Wing. But that rattling sound doesn't seem "normal" to me. Can anyone guess what it is?
  11. SO I have kind of been studyin up on the Mic mute thing. I ran across an item on another fourm that is simply a in line mic mute. Made for the GW it says its a 5 pin connection. Looking around I have found them for $50. Wonder if I need one or two? Do they work? We have the high white noise static sound plus engine buzz. And I think because I have to run the IC volume so high it causes the aux MP3 player to not have as good of sound either. Sort of makes it "tinney" sounding. So far have only found one company that makes these jobs though. http://imcmoto.com/honda-goldwing-passenger-mic-mute-and-volume-control.html# http://imcmoto.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/800x600/040ec09b1e35df139433887a97daa66f/g/p/gpms_goldwing_volume_controller_copy.jpg Oops sorry for second gen if I didnt have that mentioned.
  12. Son of a Bike the Venture is... DANG.!! I did the Polk401B replacement today. DANG. I ain't that much trouble with a screw since I was 18 years old. The replacement is simple technically, but DANG, getting to those nuts is tough (again, I ain't heard that since I was 18). The LEFT SIDE (clutch side) was the worst!!! It took me a total of about 5 hours (this includes numerous breaks - temps here around 98 degrees). I also installed baffles behind the speakers...and that was easy enough to do, but you're doing some stuffing. At first I hooked up (installed) one of the Polks and compared the sound...takes a LOT more volume for the same sound on the Polks. At first I even considered leaving the Clarions (stock) on the bike...but when I put the baffles in...the sound changed and the speakers sounded pretty dang good, so I changed the other side out. The RIGHT SIDE took HALF the time to install that the left side did... More of a review after I have used these speakers for awhile. Wally
  13. I just had my valves adjusted as part of a 25K maintenance. There was always a little valve chatter, but now they sound like a coffee can filled with bolts. The dealer says that the valves tighten/quieten over time; seems adjusting the valves back to spec just makes them noisier. Does that sound right to you?
  14. Hello guys and gals. I am sure this has been asked before. I am looking at changing my mufflers and want something that is not too loud yet has a nice deep throaty sound to it. It is so hard to pick something without hearing them. I have heard so many pipes on bikes that sound horrible. Not that they were loud, they just sounded like they didn't belong on the bike. Or maybe they were just crappy pipes. Who knows. And that is why I am having a hard time. A buddy of mine modified his stock pipes. Sure they were louder (not too loud). They had a deeper throaty sound however they had that cheap sound to them. He keeps offering to do the mod for me but I just don't like the sound. HELP!!!!!!!!!! My dealer suggested Bubs and (i think) Fat Boys. Again, I am looking for a good quality, deep throaty sound, not too loud while cruising. By the way, I have K&N air filters already. Will I have to re-jet if I put aftermarket pipes on? I know when I did the K&N filters and pipes on my Roadstar, it had to be re-jeted. Thanks. Any sound files would be greatly appreciated which you can email me.
  15. hey guys, My horn on my RSTC has bothered me since day one and I have not changed it because I have not found a replacement that I like. I dont like the bad boy type air worns, Does anyone have any experience with othe rtype of air horns. When i picked up my bike it had a Howards horn but it sounded like a keychain air blaster. My buddy's goldwing sounds like a chevy van. thats the sound I am looking for . i dount have the fairings or lowers so where would be the best place to mount? Under the saddlebags, By the radiator?
  16. My bike has been doing this for some time. When Im moving forward at any speed I hear a clicking or grinding sound comming from the rear wheel. To me it sounds like a rotor out of balance, but when I put a drag on the brake the sound is still there. Its not a noise that is constant . Maybe I can explain with this. Sounds like Im putting something in my spokes and taking it out every half of turn. I have greased everything . 19000 miles. PS.... Hey everybody its been a long time.

  18. Sorry for the new thread, ok I'm ready to try to drill like 5 holes thru the cone on the end then I know you have to drill thru the other piece inside, question is, does this sound good and does this make sense to do this. I'm broke after getting this bike so for nor now new slip ons are not an option.
  19. My new to me Chrsler Sebring Convertiable has developed it's first glitch. Now the Air bag dash board indicator light keeps coming on, then goes out, then comes back on with a ping warning sound everytime it comes back on. About every 30 to 60 seconds. Does anyone know why it may do this and can tell me how to make it quit doing that. The regular pingging sound is kinda a pain in the arse.
  20. I have been hearing a clunk when going over large bumps.I thought the fender or something like that was loose but a preliminary check turns up nothing loose. It really concerned me sunday after rolling through a rough part of the road.I thought something was gonna fall off. Another noise was like heard when leaning into a curve. Can't explain it but the sound was in conjunction with a feel. Are my wheel bearings dry, damaged, or could it be my neck bearings. I'm sorry this is so cryptic but I can't video tape the sound because the wind noise is too great.I am just hoping some one has an ideawhat neck and wheel bearings symptoms might be. Maybe some inspections I can preform.I csnt figure oit how to change the fork oil without removing the forks.
  21. time for a new headset. been using J & M for years, works good for cb and intercomb but my $10.00 pair i wear when walking sounds better for music. anything out there that has quality sound for music. I will admit my J M are about 15 years old. they may have improved much since then. thanks in advanced.
  22. I have decided to give it a go changing out my rear tire. I have the new tire and a jack, but no adapter. is there a way to jack up the bike without an adapter? Not trying to sound too stupid here, just wanted to make sure I don't get myself in a bind.... Thanks, Robert C.
  23. Well here comes another thread about mufflers. I have been experimenting with different mufflers on my 2006 RSMTD. I bought a set of HD mufflers here on the site. Got them & installed them on the bike. I liked the sound, but it wasn't as loud as I really wanted. So I read about all the mods that have been mentioned & tried here on many threads & posts. I considered all of them & decided I didn't want to mutilate what the factory had built as the best engineering possible at the time. So I found another set of slip-ons here on the site, (Thanks, Doug!! ). They are Rush slash cuts. I got them about 2 weeks ago & have been so busy I didn't get them put on until today. WELL, let me tell you these pipes are EXACTLY the sound I was wanting. They remind me of my first pickup with a V-8 motor, (1963) I put dual glass-packs on. Great sound on acceleration & not too loud just going down the road. If you want them to be quiet just back out of the throttle, & if you want some noise just give her the gas & let it wrap. Well anyway I am REALLY happy with the new pipes & will put the HD pipes on my 2000 RSV MM. They will be just right for the RSV that my wife & I ride 2 up. She's not in to the noise. Thanks for all the info I have found here including the drawings for the adapter plate for the HD mufflers & the whereabouts of the HD muffler clamps. C Ya, Patrolman46
  24. I had been looking to get helmets with headsets so that the wife and I could take advantage of the VR sound system. I was wanting to go blue-tooth but anything decent was going to be a small fortune. The forum suggested looking for Goldwing helmets on Ebay or CL. I have been looking but finding helmets in the right size wasn't working out. A friend bought the Parrot SK4000 for $46 on Amazon. I did a search on here and found 1 post. This little device is perfect! I ended up buying one for each helmet. Installation was a breeze. The sound quality is very good but it really shines when talking to someone. I'm cruising down the road at 65 and they never even realize that I am on a bike. It has a remote or uses voice commands. Other than a software bug with automatic gain control, it has worked perfect. It even has a radio. In addition to blue-tooth support, it has an analog input port for my GPS or Ipod or whatever. Now if the wife and I want to talk, I just call her up on her phone. Most of us have unlimited minutes so its no big deal. I love the thing. I especially love it for $46! http://www.raymondstacy.com/parrot.jpg
  25. I need some help. I am trying to diagnose a problem that just developed with out having to tear the engine apart looking for something that I don't know what I am looking for. Yesterday, I was on the freeway going about fifty to sixty mph, getting up to speed. While at that speed, I heard a sound that SEEMS to be coming from the clutch and/or water pump area. It kind of sounds like loose metal rattling around. Pretty loud. Maybe a sound that it would make if it was starving of coolant or oil. When I get up to 70 mph, it seems to stop, although I can't tell if I just can't hear it because of the wind. This morning I took her out and the sound goes away when I pull in the clutch. But while the clutch is disengaged, if I rev the engine I still hear the noise. I hear no noise at all when it is idling in the driveway or going slowly. It shifts gears fine. I'm thinking it could be a water or oil pump issue and/or a clutch issue. I just don't know. I know I probably haven't given you enough to go on yet... but any ideas or things that I can check would be GREATLY appreciated!!!!! 1998 Royal Star TC XVZ13AT I really thank you for your time and thoughts!!
