  1. After 8.5 years I sold my Vmax with the idea of buying a Venture. I came close to jumping on a few first gens and also a few second gens. Had a 99 all picked out but when I made the call they had sold it... guy emailed me after and said he had a 08 with 1100 miles on it. Checked the warranty date and held my breath for pics. Made the deposit that night. 10 days and the hole in my shop will be filled. She won't be as quick but I can always borrow my old max if I wanna go fast. I am anxious to see how the comfy people live. Thanks for all the ideas the forums have planted in the last few weeks...my wallet hates you all! Frank

  3. Hey All, for a bit I have had my RSV listed and paying attention to the ones that has sold. I just looked today at the four second generations that have not sold, and all have at least 40k + in miles. All four are a very good price, lots of accessories, too me, they all should have sold already. Which leads me to this question: You guys feel that a RSV with 40k+ miles really scares someone to buy ? Just Wondering, Later-
  4. I got a new to me bike today, and I am so excited. I've been looking for one of these for the past few years, and finally found and bought a really good looking one today. It's a 1988 Honda NX250, a great little dual purpose ride. I got it from the second owner with all the original paperwork, 2 original keys, Owner's Manual and Service Manual and even a few extra parts. And it seems to be in great shape. I only rode it about 20 miles today, and it was just plain fun. One reason I'm so excited is I actually had 2 of these same bikes back in 1988. I won them on the "Price Is Right" in '88. I kept both of them for quite awhile, and then sold one and kept the other another couple years or so. Thinking back, I don't know why I sold it. More recently I've been looking for a good one for about 4 years now. This one came up on Craig's List a couple days ago, I finally had a chance to go see it earlier today, and now it's mine..... ....and my son's. He's 17 and this will be a great bike for him to start off on. I love my RSV and it's a daily rider for me, but I think I will be doing more puttin around town stuff on the little Honda. Now let's see about sharing some photos.
  5. Uechi Kid just sent this out to some friends on his distribution list (thanks, Rich) - thought I might share with all of you. I just checked my wallet - and couple of my cards do have that symbol on a card as discussed in this video. What will be thought of next? . What I don't understand is how products like this can be made - or sold. http://www.wreg.com/news/wreg-electronic-pickpocketing-goes-viral,0,1599870.story
  6. I sold my trike and the guy picked it up today and left around 1:00pm. At 1:45pm some drunk drove through my garage right where my trike was sitting. I am storing an 09 Trike for a friend that has 500 miles on it and it took a hit. Check out my pictures! What a day!!! No one was hurt!
  7. Folks, I have been somewhat struggling with a decision lately in regard to our classified section. We had a person join as a trial member and then posted an ad in our classifieds for some patches. I may end up making the classifieds for supporting members only and even then, I don't want to have people joining at $12.00 per year only for the purpose of hawking their goods on our site. The fact is, if I allowed people to start using the site and our classifieds as a store at $12.00 per year, this would end up being nothing but a spam filled site and I just won't allow that to happen. I just deleted the ad for patches in our classifieds and will be watching closely that it doesn't continue to happen. I block memberships here almost every day from spammers in China, India and other places that I know want nothing more than to spam our forum. It is a non-ending battle that requires me to be on constant lookout. Very rarely one will get through and we will see some spam posts but they are deleted quickly and those responsible are permanently banned from the site. I was also made aware today of a site in Australia that has VentureRider patches listed for sale. I don't know who the actual person is behind the site but I have not authorized that our logo be used for any retail purpose outside of our own products listed here on the site in the VentureRider Merchandise forum area. I do vaguely remember a request from a member some time ago asking if he could use our logo and put the outline of Australia in the background. I had no problem with that for one's personal use but NOT to be sold. There have been a few times over the years when I have received requests from members to reproduce our logo on their trailer or other items and I've never had a problem with that but again, that is for your own personal use ONLY. NOT to be reproduced and sold retail. If you find our logo being sold on products outside of this site, please let me know and PLEASE do not purchase those items.
  8. My Dad has a lot of health problems, thanks to Agent Orange. He is finally on VA 100% disability for it. A while back, we sold his 2006 Road King, as it was too heavy for him to hold up. He has neuropathy in his legs, and he also has Parkinson's. After selling the RK, he bought Midnite's 1100 Vstar, because it was much lighter, and had a lower seat height. Although it was easier for him to ride, he still had problems with it, so he sold it also. We decided it would be safer on four wheels, and since he probably doesn't have too many good years left, it was time to just say "%&$@ it", and just go borrow the money, and buy himself a nice car. The car is a 1948(same year he was born) Ford Super Deluxe Coupe. It has had a LOT of work done in the restoration, and it sports a mildly built Chevy 350. It also has power steering, power brakes, front disc brakes, and cruise control. We are going to add air conditioning. He is a happy camper now.
  9. Browsing the Harley site this weekend, and dang, I might be in love! I loved my Venture, but have always loved a H-D Road Glide....now with the backseat and trunk, I may be sold. Oh yeah, the ABS helps too. What do ya'll think of this bike? http://blog.encs.com/Portals/30908/images/11RoadGlideUltra.jpg
  10. First I would like to thank Atlanta Dragonslayer for the assistance given yesterday. As I told you I am a beginner in every sense of the word, when it comes to motorcycles. I did as you suggested and as of now it seems to have solved the problem. It looks to me like I finally made a good decision when I decided to join Venture Rider. I am not usually big on joining anything, but the help given by a total stranger, although it may not have been a big thing blew me away. I am sure that any of the other Venture Rider members, who have had anything to do with Bob can attest to the fact that he is Venture Rider through and through. He sold me on the fact that this is the place to be as an owner of a first generation Venture for tech help as well as anything else pertaining to these bikes. I hope that with some guidance from the rest of members, I can someday be able to help someone the way I was helped. Thank you again Bob.
  11. Redoing the front forks on my 83' venture and need to order parts. http://www.mrcycles.com/fiche_section_detail.asp?section=198921&category=motorcycles&make=YAMAHA&year=1983&fveh=4522 Some is easy but just want input, what do I need to order and do I need to order 1 cause they come in sets or do I need to order 2 cause they are sold individually.
  12. So my 88 VR will be parted and sold to the best of my ability, as posted in the aftermarket TCI thread... It has a lot of chrome parts and extras on it. I was thinking about hosting a 1 day pick'n-pull for anyone who wants to come and 'vulture' it. this way the buyer can assist in removing the part as to not allow me to cause any damage attempting to remove it. If anything good is left I'll sell on ebay for what I can get it for or on this forum and scrap the rest. Don't want to spend the next 6 months on ebay.. Parts will still be sold indiviually but I'm hoping everyone will be fair about prices. I'm not looking to get rich by any means, just put a fraction of the $2k back in my savings... Of course, this could be a completely bad idea... Any thoughts?
  13. i picked up this awesome first gen from a friend in tenn. it belonged to his father n law who made 5 trips on it b4 he found out he had cancer and couldnt ride any more so he put it in a garage for about 12 years and his daughter finally got tired of looking at it so they sold it to me took alot of work but now it runs like new and im too short back it up so i really need to sell it it has everything you could have on a bike except reverse
  14. I'm ready to take my one last ride on my 2000 RSV MM bike. I sold it to Andy (aka: Alabamacameo on this site) and will meet up with him near Nashville on Monday. What can I say about the 2000 RSV MM? It is absolutely my favorite bike and this is my second MM bike. Such a sweet looking bike with a great ride. Sold it to Andy who will take great care of it and I will pick up my 2002 Goldwing Trike to ride back to Iowa. I will be spending a few days in the Cookeville area enjoying the roads. This site has been a Godsend. The wealth of information and advice on this site is tremendous. My membership fee is a small price to pay for the benefits of being here. I plan to stick around especially since Don added the Goldwing forum. Thanks to everyone here!
  15. I put an ad in the classified for a new set of Carbon 1 crash bar braces with chrome clamps for $45 shipped. I sold the bike and didn't get them sold.
  16. Does anyone know of a source for a high quality 6"x9" AZ state motorcycle flag, made and sold in AZ? Lacking that, how about made OR sold in AZ? I am thinking of one like this, but I am buycotting AZ. Dave
  17. Does the Carbon One work on this year. I looked at a pic of one. I think my bike is different it has the mono shock which I think gets in the way. Any help here? Has someone came across this before. there seems no sold place to put the lift. Thanks, Kregg
  18. For those who ordered t's and headwraps I should have them out in the mail this saturday...sorry for the delay but the vendor promises me he will have them in my hands by Friday......I didn't realize that I sold all the headwraps at Christmas time and need to re-order more....my bad
  19. Ran across this while wandering around ebay. It's a Ventureline and it's pretty cheap right now. I don't want it, I sold the one that came on my bike. Just doing my public service for the week.
  20. I am a new member, having recently purchased a 2005 RSTD here in Australia. I have been looking at other members' photos of their bikes and reading all your comments looking for ideas to copy. One thing I have noticed in the photos is that my headlight rim seems to be different from all the photos of bikes owned by members in the US. Mine is just a plain round rim and the ones in the photos seem to have a built in hood that looks great. My question is: is this an accessory sold in US or do RSTDs sold in the US come standard with this rim? I am also wondering if anyone knows how I can find out if the hooded rim will fit my headlight. I know it's a big ask but a part number for the rim would be great. If anyone can provide me with this information, perhaps someone could also let me know if the rim can be bought in the US and where I could buy it. I could then contact them to find out details of the cost of the rim and shipping details to Australia. Thanks, Les.

    Sold my Girl

Hard to believe, but I sold her. 2002 Midnight with 35,000 miles and I let her go. Black Betty (original huh?, but that was what I called her). I only owned her for a year or so, put 5,000 miles on her and had a blast every minute in the rain and cold, too. Passed her on to another rider who had been without a ride for a few years as I had been when I found her. Bought a HD Ultra. A little newer and way less miles. I hope I did the right thing. But that was my goal from the start when I got back into it. No complaints. Awesome bike and it happily got my wife involved. She wholeheartedly objected in the beginning, but once she finally gave in and hopped on for a ride she was with me after that for at least half of those miles. I now own a HD but will forever remember "Black Betty". I love the open road and the Venture brought it back into my life after so many years. Best wishes to all and I hope the road treats you well. And I appreciate all the information I have gleaned from this website and all of you. I'll be around and one thing's for sure...there ain't no snubbin' the metrics when we pass on the road. We're all brothers out there.
  22. Looking to sell the chrome luggage rack that clamps onto the passenger backrest uprights. Bought it for my 05 TD. It is in like new condition, only had it on the bike twice and don't see me using it so.......$120.. shipped. Any interest? Sold
  23. Most knew of my knee problems, and passing of my Mother in-law had us in a bind $$$ for a while, And pretty much everyone here knew of Monty buying my 03 Venture the former RoadKiller. Well I sold my Gold Wing two weeks ago so I was without a ride. I could not buy a cruiser untill I sold my Touring bikes. That has changed now, I will have a new ride this coming Friday 12. it will be easier on my knee plus I'll be back in the V4 family again. I been looking at cruisers from Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Harley Davidson, and Yamaha. And I liked most of them, but it was the V4 XVZ1300 motor that I enjoyed the most. So I came back home 2006 Royal Star Tour Deluxe with only 9,966mi. Could not turn down this deal for only $6,799.00 . The Yamaha Dealer here in Duncan OK had the same yr and color and almost the same mileage for $9,999.00 and would not come down any on their price, so we Will be heading back up to Action Power Sports in Tulsa to pick up the Deluxe on Friday 12. So I hope to be seeing some of you family members down the road this year. Buddy
  24. A local has a set of BuB exhaust forsale. Who has them and what do you think of them? I'm seriously thinking about them. He had them on his bike for one season then sold his bike.
  25. Picked up my new 09 today and rode her 80 miles home , I've been on a competitors model since I sold my 04 RSV in 2005 What a joy to get back in the saddle of an RSV. I put 13,000 miles on my last one (please don't ask why I sold it , I really don't know) ... 4 years later it was like I never was without it , now on to breaking it in..
